  1. That is very nice, thanks for the info on craft acrylics and how to use them. Very clean build, nice color choices.
  2. That is looking spectacular and the details are so well done.
  3. Incredible build, the details and accuracy render me speechless. I am in awe of your scratchbuilding skills and ability to see this to the end. That is modeling to another level, for sure!
  4. Thanks for sharing and I agree, looks very nice and crisp. Now if they would only get around to re-issuing that SWB Landy I would jump at one of them!
  5. Not the most accurate looking models but they did pick some overlooked vehicles to tool up. I just wonder why they couldn't get them more precise, I remember the Monogram bodies being closer to the 1:1 they were modeled after.
  6. Actually, the California market is probably larger than all of Canada and considering the early smog rules were developed in California and it represents the largest market for non carbon fueled vehicles, there will be a demand for them. There is a worldwide demand for these types of vehicles and development is continuing to bring new types of powertrains.
  7. This resin conversion was mastered by Brian Croft and it is a beautiful piece. Kris Morgan is casting them and they run $15 plus shipping and I have a couple set aside for future builds. I have not tried one on the Revell kit to see how well it may fit, but would hazard a guess it will be off due to scale differences.
  8. Nice work, but then that is what you do! Love those two, especially the extended cab!
  9. Wasn't there a model kit that featured the Sweathogs of Welcome Back Kotter?
  10. The only way to minimize dust is to have a clean spray area. Static electricity will contribute to the problem as well. Back in the days when I worked at a dealership with a body shop, the painters would wet the floor of the spray booth to keep the dust down as well as limit who could come into the booth. A suggestion I have seen some utilize is to line the spray booth with wax paper or saran wrap to collect the dust and overspray that comes with painting and to change them often to keep the dirt to a minimum. I too am looking at a spray booth and this topic is timely!
  11. Going back about 5 or 6 years ago, I had placed an order with Norm and among the items was a resin copy of the snow plow set up that MPC put in some Jeeps back in the early 70's. I had a couple of Jeeps laying around and thought it would be cool to get a plow from Norm. It was around this time that Revell came out with the GMC Pickup that has the snow plow in it. When I got my order from Norm, he wrote me a note saying how the plow in the Revell kit was a much nicer piece and that he wasn't going to cast his any more because of it and he included a check for what the plow cost. Now most people would have tossed the plow in and called it a day, but Norm went out of his way to steer me to a better piece and write a note detailing why. If that alone doesn't speak to his integrity and the quality of his product, not sure what does. Going to miss his products when he retires, much like Don and Carol.
  12. Looks pretty good for an old plow truck! Nice job on the weathering.
  13. Not sure, but maybe someone like Chief Joseph at Fireball Modelworks will develop the wheels/hubcaps needed to turn this into a plain Jane.
  14. It would definitely be a better starting point than the Trans Am motor. I am not sure if that Trumpeter had a generator or an alternator, that would be the only thing I can think of that would need to be changed. I think MCW had a Chevy L-6 resin engine available.
  15. It's about an hour in good traffic, I'm lazy, I'll order it online if necessary. I've been to that store in the past, everything is MSRP and the staff seems more interested in R/C than anything else.
  16. Gregg, any chance they can be ordered online? No hobby shops in my area for at least 100 miles, unless you know of one in the Charlotte NC area.
  17. That is why I have several of these kits- to steal parts from! I have used the 50% off coupon at Michael's to grab one and also the 40% off coupon at HL. Nice work on this, that paint job is awesome!
  18. I thought those got caught up in some licensing snags, no? I would love to see them, someday! If that Land Rover kit was the shorter wheelbase I would be all over it. One can hope that they bring it back some day soon.
  19. I saw some stuff on eBay and might actually make a purchase but was wondering what the quality is like on products from HoppersBazaar? They show some resin wheels that look ideal for a build I have in mind and before I make a purchase, thought I would ask here what others have experienced? TIA
  20. Yes, thank you to all who have defended our country and freedom. As the father of a deployed soldier, I can honestly say that I my child heard a calling to serve and is doing so proudly in a part of the world that is not the friendliest towards the USA. I also am glad to see our soldiers return from service to a nation that welcomes them and shows appreciation. There was an ugly time in our history where citizens and celebrities treated our soldiers with a lot of disrespect and as a result, there are many veterans out there who had to endure abuse that was uncalled for. We have many Vietnam veterans here on this forum and to them I say "Welcome Home".
  21. Still waiting on that 1 ton dump bed............................................just sayin! LOL!
  22. Nice work, love the color and details. The Holmes wreckers would be nice to have in any version- 440,500,600,750, & 850!
  23. Hobby Lobby will likely run their usual 30% off of kits after Thanksgiving thru Christmas. Don't expect any resets to happen during the holiday season, maybe January or February.
  24. I had been going through my PM messages and ran across the ones we sent back and forth as he was fighting for his life. Gave me a chill and brought a tear to my eye to read those words from him and think about how he fought so hard. I miss his contributions he made here and elsewhere to better the hobby. A fine man gone too soon who is dearly missed.
  25. Always a great show and the host club does a great job with all aspects. The hotel is really nice and the room that the show is in is HUGE! Don't miss this show!
