  1. I have an old vise my parents got me for Christmas in the 80's I think. It has a nice heavy base so sits on the bench and has rubber on the grip part that can be removed. I use it just about every single day.

    Ice T

No issues building this kit. Everything had obvious mounting points and fit well. About the only thing was getting the chassis mounted to the body. It has curves and waves so all that needs to match up. Maybe just me but I fiddled with it a lot.
  3. I really really like what you've done. Great job!
  4. Very well done! I built the Heller version many years ago and experienced the exact things you mentioned.
  5. Started with the Tom Daniels Ice T kit and let my imagination go from there. Scratchbuilt the roll cage and push bars, then dug through my parts box for the tires, fuel tank, dash, steering wheel, and whatever else I needed to make it look like a dirt track racer. Wasn't going for a proper replica; just attempting to have some fun and see what I ended up with.

Nothing special but decided to do a simple kit for some fun. Interesting build. Tamiya paint.

A nice Revell kit that went together well right out of the box. Decals went on without any problems too. Testors dark blue paint.
  8. IndyCar officially announced they removed Portland from their schedule which would've been in September. Not a surprise but when you get the email with the official announcement it's just a kick to the nads. Had my seats reserved since last year and knew we wouldn't get to go but thought they might still come and race without fans. I don't know, maybe that would have been worse knowing they're on the track and I'm home.
  9. Always entertaining to listen to his stories. Seemed like a genuine nice guy. His wife was enjoyable to look at.
  10. Cool! I had to glue that stupid spoiler back on while putting on decals. Not much of anything holding it there. Thanks for showing us your old build.
  11. A couple more colors I really like from Model Master are Steel and Jet Exhaust. Don't know of anything that look like these colors. I mostly use Tamiya bottle paint but there are some Model Master ones that fill in the gaps nicely.
  12. A lot of work you did there but well worth it. Very nice! Now you can start on the trailer (caravan) he had.
  13. Very nice model! Lots of paint and decal work done well. The good ol' days of Pro Stock.
  14. Never heard of this brand but appears to be for the railroad modelers? Saw it at Hobbylinc but "unavailable".
  15. Black Chrome Trim is what I use all the time. It fills the gap between flat black and semi-gloss black. Not sure what I'll replace it with.
  16. Lance Stroll is Canadian right? He has struggled for awhile but seems to be improving.
  17. Very nice. Mine has been 3/4 done for months now but thanks to you I think I'll finish it now. Those are nice kits and I reached out to Revell to make more. They answered me but didn't sound promising. Wanting more aftermarket decals and can approach it that way but haven't seen any.
  18. Thanks for sharing your great work. As much as I like to build race cars, I would never attempt this one.
  19. Nice! Can't tell what is paint and what are decals.
  20. You did a nice job. Built about 3 Wendell Scott cars myself. Really admire what he did on and off the track.
  21. This is a great forum. So many people and subjects for me to enjoy every day. Entertaining and informative. Keep it up and I thank everyone involved.
  22. Yep, this sucks big time! Funny thing is I just started a subscription to Fine Scale Modeler. With more and more print magazines disappearing I decided I needed a little more to read so subscribed. I'm a big fan of reading magazines, not digital.
