  1. Repair guy came today to fix our washing machine. Needs a new mother board or some-such electronic part. Not very expensive but he doesn't have it so ordered it. Gonna be a couple of weeks! Meantime we're running out of clean clothes. Sister-in-law lives about 8 miles away and my son offered to come to his place which is farther away. Nice to have that available but still a pain. Meantime my mother-in-law appears to be dying. She's 95 so it's time. Oh, and I'm taking my wife in tomorrow for a steroid shot in the spine. Just a lot of happy happy joy joy.
  2. Turned out great! Your engine detail is impressive and you're exactly right in describing the terrible kit this is.
  3. Now that the USPS has found your package maybe they can look for my July Motorsport magazine.
  4. Wow! Great engine detail. Ahhh yes, the Eddie Hill days with lots of white hair. πŸ˜€
  5. The look on their faces is great. Concentration and focus to get the job done.
  6. I didn't know crows would attack a living thing to eat. Thought they were scavengers and just scrounged for food that way. Guess I learned something.....but it's sad.
  7. I agree but it paused a few times at the end of a cycle and flashed it wanted to run a "self clean" cycle. Does seem stupid and reading the owners manual I decided I'd go ahead and do it. Big mistake! I hope to learn a couple of things from the repair person. Sometimes they can give you some tips about these bells and whistles with these new machines.
  8. Another irk today. Washing machine wants to do a "self clean cycle". Set the dial, close the door and hit the button. The display is lit but nothing happens so I turn it off and try again. Waiting and nothing happens but now I get a "door" message. No idea what that means but can't open the door. Long story short; read owners manual, look stuff up on the Internet and can't get it to work. Unplugged the thing a few times. Door is locked shut. Have to have a repair guy come out on Tuesday which is $115 charge just to come here. Oh, previous irk above that I lost a model part; I used a shop light and found it so there's that I can be thankful for. Rather have the washing machine working.
  9. Losing a little tiny model part. Working on a couple of race car models and decided to attach the little parts to both of them this morning. It was going very well and I even thought to myself how well it was going and that's when it happened. Heard it hit the workbench so know it had to be there somewhere. It's well lit but after looking for the longest time, I couldn't find it. Even used a flashlight to make it even brighter but no luck. Looked on the floor too but can't see it going that far. Really irked!
  10. There's a traffic signal where a side street meets up to the main 2 lane street. It turned red at 6 AM and I was the only car there. Coming back it did it again. Couple hours later I came through there and it happened again. The next morning it happened again so I emailed the "Transportation Maintenance Manager" and he replied right away and said he'd send a crew to have a look. Next day he told me the pedestrian button was stuck on so it kept sending a signal telling the light to change. He thanked me for bringing the problem to attention. Pleased at the quick response from all of them to fix this.
  11. I am amazed you got those energetic dogs to sit still at the same time and get their picture taken. Well trained!
  12. Your finished model looks excellent with the weathering. Thanks for the review. Always amazes me when certain parts were designed completely wrong, as you pointed out. Makes me wonder where they got the idea to design it as they did.
  13. A very nice clean build after all that work. It's an MPC kit and I find they are a pain so I get what you're saying about your struggles.
  14. Whoa, that thing is trashed! But in a good way. Nice job.
  15. I am amazed at the challenges you take on but really appreciate looking at your finished model and the obscure racer you chose. Great work and it's good of you to tell us everything you had to do otherwise we wouldn't have a clue.
  16. I was thinking this exact thing. It would be a natural reaction to avoid hitting anything that suddenly appeared.
  17. We've been lucky with our dogs when it comes to fireworks. Our Westies used to look out the window and bark at what they saw acting like they were excited and if to say "knock off all that noise". Otherwise they were fine with it. Our 2 rescue Terriers don't really care at all. But when a delivery truck comes down the street.......we'll have none of that!
  18. I've tried peanut butter, dry dog food, and chicken with no results. Today I put a bit of canned dog food in a trap. Real frustrating when the rats aren't drawn to any of these things. I don't get it. They're rats. Thought they would eat anything.
  19. Too bad about the quality of the figures but your work paid off. They look great. I remember watching them as a kid also and had a couple (or was it one?) 45's of their music. Thanks for the memories.
  20. Excellent! The figures, weathering, all the painting in general is fantastic! I'm a car model builder but always in awe of figure painters and other model types because of the talent they show in the finished models.
  21. I spend a ridiculous amount of time saving pictures from the Internet as reference during building. Engine colors, interior, decal location, etc. When I finish a model I have a log book where I write down the month finished, paint colors used on the body (I paint with cans) and any modifications done. The color of paint helps sometimes when I look back and think the particular color is what I want to use for a current build.
  22. Your finished model looks great to me. Now that I've built a few 3d models I find good and bad things about them. The complete chassis can be a pain with detail painting but I like how it's already put together. I think your shocks look fine.
