VERY nice! Gonna have to keep my eyes open for one of those. It is 1/24, right, not 1/18?

Yeah. I like the sit of Randy's. I might do that to mine someday. Was is much trouble to get the wheels off the axle? I've had a lot of trouble with that on diecasts. On at least one, I've had to cut the axle itself with a Dremel.

I keep getting the stupid 404 error trying to post this, so I'm gonna do this and post the pics and then see if I can come back and add one sentence at a time until I get all the text back, or find the problem. Sigh. I’m not a big fan of convertibles, and I already had an original AMT annual ’65 Impala survivor on the workbench, so why did I buy this thing? I liked the color, that’s all. The (prepainted) base emerald green is gorgeous, and the light green flames are tastefully done and very eye-catching. Had to have it! (I think they also released it in at least one other paint scheme, too.) Decided to Snake-slap it together as quick as possible, you know, the way we all built models when we were kids. I wasted no time building or painting the engine, exhaust, or random underhood details (I might go back and add all that stuff someday). The chassis parts got stuck together with Tacky Glue. You can build either the front or the back or both in either raised or lowered position, giving you four variations of sit/stance, and they don’t mention it but I imagine you could built one side raised and the other lowered, giving you two more stances. Strangely, there doesn’t seem to be a stock ride height option. I went with the parts for lowered. Didn’t spend much time on the interior, either. Just painted some gauge faces black and hit some of the chrome trim with Silver Sharpie. Didn’t even paint the white carpet—hey, it’s a “custom,” it could happen, though at some point I might go back and paint the carpet green to match the prepainted seat inserts. And here it is with the original AMT annual survivor I just restored/rescued. Thanks for looking and, as always, comments welcome.

Here’s another one I didn’t even know existed until I saw it on the $10 rack at Rite Aid. I have another diecast ’69 Judge, but it’s 1/24, orange, and has aftermarket wheels, so of course I had to have this one too. Like several other Wellys, this one is a hair undersized, maybe 1/26. But it actually seems to fit in better on my 1/25 musclecar shelf than the Monogram 1/24, which looks huge. Paint is nice and looks like a passable match to ’69 Pontiac Matador Red. Overall shape looks good, and it features the non-hidden headlights, unlike the Monogram and original MPC promos and kits. It only required 1st degree Snake-Fu—detailing the Rally II wheels, the grille, and some minor Silver Sharpie touchup. I like this one a lot, and it looks great in company with either my original MPC ’68 and ’70 GTOs, or its Welly sibling ’68 4-4-2, ’70 GSX, and ’71 Chevelle SS (all of which are about the same slightly undersized scale). Thanks for looking, and as always, comments welcome.

Hmmmmm. Might be worth waiting for the DVD and bonus deleted scenes.

That's pretty cool. I'm trying to get something similar together in 1/25.
-
That's pretty cool. I bought a couple of the '72 GTOs for parts donors for other projects but it might be fun to build a T-37 or GT-37 just for something different on the shelf.
-
Yah, I'm not hearing good things about it. I'll wait till it comes on cable.

Well there ya go. You should have told us. Nice work!
-
Very pretty! Is this a kit or pre-built? Did you do anything to it? It looks good!

The closest commonly available might be AMT '67 Impala glass, though your '68 sounds like an MPC. But as espo said, you might have to resort to making your own, which shouldn't be a HUGE deal, as it's all simple curves (not compound). In fact, the backlight is probably darn close to flat and thus VERY easily replaced with almost any reasonably thin clear plastic.

Round 2 says the TTs should be in there: https://round2corp.com/product/1969-dodge-country-charger-rt/

I use old gun bore brushes (bronze) just 'cause I have a bunch of them around.

2018-2020 Dodge Challenger and Charger
Snake45 replied to johnwitzke's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'd love to have a late model Charger, but it's only available in diecast. I might break down and buy one anyway--I want to convert one to a 2-door, THE WAY IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. -
Thanks! Thanks! Thanks old friend! Yeah, common problem of the time. I did some like that myself. Makes a nice "survivor," don't it? Thanks for the kind words! Thanks! I thought so, too. Thanks! Interesting idea. Black might be too dark but I might see if I have a dark gold or something that might look good there. Thanks so much!

Only thing I remember from that movie was the line, "New things are no good."

AI will kill us all, first good chance it gets. When the UFO people come back to check on us, the machines will be running everything. Maybe that was their idea all along. I heard someone say that the only way to be safe is to load Microsoft Outlook into it so sooner or later it will have to crash. Sounds like a plan. -
My son is a C-17 driver. I'll have to ask him if he's ever "lit 'em up."

I'm tellin' ya, for your purposes, you might be as well or better off starting with this. It's been looking good on my shelf for over a decade now, and the Lindberg keeps sliding farther and farther down my "must build" list. https://www.diecastmodelswholesale.com/1966-chevrolet-chevelle-ss-396-blue-1-24-diecast-model-car-by-maisto/

You have a '68 Impala kit/model? Tell me more....

The best part was the opening with Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock, and Dave Chappell. They managed to resurrect Mr. Robinson, Gumby, Velvet Jones, and Buckwheat. Some of this was funny. And Eddie managed to say the S-word on live TV. Best line of the night was Judge Janine's "Merry Christmas."

Sounds like the work I had to do to build the MPC '67 GTO and '69 Camaro, and the Revell '67 Corvette roadster. I don't enjoy it, but it has to be done. BTW, you asked me about fixing the roof and I dug up pics and post them and you don't even comment, good or bad? How rude!

What an interesting and cool interpretation. Thanks so much and model on!

Beautiful, both of them! Very well done and model on in a productive 2020!
