  1. I can top that (for once). There's currently a thread down in the Diecast and Resin Models section on a Lego submarine. It's not diecast. It's not resin. It's not even really a model. Wassup dat?
  2. I need to build a black Mustang. RIP, Lee.
  3. Do you have either of these in green? I want to do a black one with the green trim. That thing was just badass looking. (The '80 stripes look like the ones I want.) I want to restore/rescue/re-do this one. The markings on it are stickers.
  4. Yeah, same basic body. I recently picked up one of these (the Pro Street kit) for (IIRC) $15 at the local toy show and am looking forward to building it as the Motown Missile, as soon as I can figger out how the fix the headlights.
  5. Great color, and looks like a good match for the pics above. Drive on!
  6. What I see above doesn't look too bad. At least the color is solid and even. Here's how I'd proceed at this point: 1. Lay on one coat of Testor Wet Look Clear lacquer--not quite wet, just enough for the next coats to "dig into." 2. Lay on two or three more coats of WLC, just barely "wet," each 24 hours apart. 3. Let dry 24-48 hours. 4. Sand the WLC starting with 3M #1000 WetOrDry, used wet to keep it cutting. 5. After the #1000, wet-sand again with 3M #1500 or #2000 , again used wet. 6. Polish with Wright's Silver Cream, a silver polish available at Walmart. Your Novus might work equally well at this point so I can't vouch for it. I KNOW how the Wright's works.
  7. My boxing said "Hollywood Wheels" or something of the kind. Nothing about Route 66. I went looking for it on google and couldn't find another box like mine--every single one I saw was a Route 66.
  8. I've seen worse. Much, MUCH worse. Lots of it. Am I now wondering how I could possibly kitbash it? No.
  9. Good to have you aboard, Sam! Looks like we have five in already. Just three more needed, and then I'll jump in and it's Game On!
  10. They did build two 429 Cougars. One went to Nicholson and the other to Schartman.
  11. Very nice!
  12. Thanks so much. I"m just glad that we're able to encourage each other to get these long-suffering Shelf of Doom projects done. I took a count from the rosters last night and it looks like since we started, we've finished 25 models! Plus, there's two more I want to recognize as "Honorary Completions." CanCon finished the nice '67 Pontiac he had in Round 2, but didn't sign up for Round Three. Nevertheless, he GOTTER DONE! Similarly, SuperbirdMcMonte completed a project this round that he didn't "officially" register but would have qualified if he had. What was that, SMcM, a Nova, I think? (Special Thanks also to Superbird for the resin Riviera hood, without which I might not have been able to complete the project on time.)
  13. July Display: Calendar Mustang is billed as a ’70 Boss 302 but I think it’s a clone—no stripes, and a Mach I type hood scoop—in Grabber Blue. Diecast is a Maisto ’70 Boss 301 in Grabber Green. I matched make, model, and year, but not color. Pretty close. Calendar Corvette is a white ’60 with silver coves. Model is a Revell diecast kit ’62 in Fawn Beige, closest I had—right make and model, wrong year and color. I have the same wheel covers, though!
  14. I don't believe that would work for you. You might want to go right to one of the "real paint" suppliers like Model Car World or Scale Finishes for what you need. Another idea--it wouldn't be perfect, but would be in the ballpark--would be Model Master Olive Drab 34087, clear-coated. Testor might also have a gloss olive green in the small bottles that might work if you airbrush--I know they used to but can't remember if they still have it in the line.
  15. Very clean build! That's probably about as good as you can get this kit to look without nasty body corrections. Well done and model on!
  16. Musta been bad. I heard on the news that the Pride Parade was rained out. (Gotta be a rainbow joke of some kind in there somewhere, but I'll let someone else make it.)
  17. That is EXACTLY the idea, SL59! And I'll have to make an exact count, but I think that since we started these things late last year, we've seen somewhere between 20 and 30 models FINISHED and on the shelf that probably otherwise wouldn't have been. Way hella cool! Got a project picked up for Round 4? Meanwhile, here's a couple quick pics of The Riv (only 50+ years in the making). Will do a full writeup Under Glass at some point, I hope. Long story short, was going for sort of a musclecar/NASCAR-ish badassitude spin on a street custom. Not 100% sure how I feel about the blacked-out front fender "pods," but it's something I've wanted to try for a long time. I can always re-do them some other way later.
  18. Very cool! If I liked '58 Chevies at all, I'd have to have one.
  19. You should see what the rivet-counters have done with various kits of the P-40B at Hyperscale!
  20. That is VERY cool! (I wonder if the molds for this series still exist?) Well done and model on!

COMING RIGHT ALONG! I just finished up the '65 Riviera and hope to have pics up soon. The clock is ticking! If you get finished by midnight tonight, post so stating, and then get one or more pics up in the next couple days. Who's up for Round 4?
  22. WOOHOO! Good for you! And I'm coming down the home stretch on my '65 Riv!
  23. Far and away the finest model junior fueler model I've ever seen. Drive on!
  24. You just reminded me, I have TWO '55 Nomads on the Shelf of Doom--one a clean street cruiser, the other an old-school box-stock gasser. Maybe I'll drag one of those out for Round 4, too.
