  1. I build both ways, i'll take a poor kit to work and do a build start to finish in a night like the terrible mitsuawa golf cabrio, brush painted it and threw it together. At home I'll spend more time and try to make something better than the last build. I'm quite happy to spend hours adding stuff but sometimes that bites back too, I spent a month wiring a heavily customised kennmary skyline, then put it on a race style bellypan and hid a months worth of work never to be seen again. I also enjoy making aircooled dub models have working suspension. At the end of the day I enjoy both ways of building
  2. Theres been an incident in glasgow, my sister is there for an ambulance training course and it took well over an hour to get hold of her. I was starting to panic
  3. It's a scottish thing, its called celtic know work and its on some of our stone age monuments. Pretty simple to draw really. I've been doing it for years and use it to hide words. This is just a doodle but it follows the same rules, it says rowdi in case you cant make it out. Unlike the roof this is one line though
  4. My current fav of mine, the roof was hand drawn with an architects pen before a coat of hok hot pink
  5. I think they are all excelent but this one stands out to me, i'll be using it as inspiration when i get ot my razor edge ghia
  6. A fairly mild abrasive cleaner (on this side of the pond its called cif) and someone elsesonly leaves very mild scratching on the surface (or an old one, lol) toothbrush. It can then be polished back to smooth plastic fairly quickly as it
  7. I've seen it done with diesel tractors, mostly the ones i saw were home conversions
  8. Yes, this one is a circuit racer, I've not really done a good comparison between the 2 yet but i believe the engine has some differences too. I think it might end up getting a cossie turbo engine when i get ot it. Also it has bbs rims
  9. Cool plan, i like the look with the fuchs on
  10. Arrived today. This is my second of these but this one is complete (my other had flaking decals and no tyres) I was lucky to get it for less than half the price they normally go for as it was listed as ertl with no mention of esci. Does anyone know if this had 2 releases? this one is molded in blue, but my other is molded in a very dark blue/almost black. I could possibly let one of them go if someone has an ertl farm plough or trailer kit (built up or unbuilt) as I have a few tractors to build and the scale difference wouldn't be so obvious with farm stuff
  11. This vw santana arrived today, it was listed as 1/24 but in reality its a chunk smaller. I'll be lowering it and changing the wheels to something more euro look, possibly some scale production snowflakes
  12. Bestmodelcarparts have great service, when i found out he produced the vw heb he didn't have them listed so i sent him a message asking and he replied straight away that he did produce them but had none in stock so give him a few days. i missed the first one he listed as someone else got there first (the joys of timezones, lol) but he made me another. the price was very fair too for the amount of parts it included. I will definately be buying from them again.
  13. I think i prefer the memphis street outlaws, they seem to have more sportsmanship than the oklahoma lot but that could just be down to how the shows are edited. Going purely from the shows some of the oklahoma lot seem quite happy to cheat where as we've all seen the memphis lot not take the cash if someone crashes or breaks and mostly they seem to give as many chances to other team to line up as possible. Its something you rarely see in the other shows. They also seem to be enjoying themselves more than the other lot. I do enjoy the no prep series too but that probably because there is more variety of cars there. I'm kinda surprised with how popular all these series are that none of the companies have done kits of the cars yet, seems like something that could sell well, and still be released as non branded kits later. I'd buy most of them if they were available
  14. thats awesomly cool
  15. if your red isn't bright enough a coat of tamiya clear red might help.or if you want it really bright use it over flouro pink and it will almost glow
  16. You should be able to find the tyres you need from some of the aftermarket suppliers. I've seen them with and without the bulge at the bottom. Unfortunatelly I dont know which suppliers carry them but a search for scale drag tyres should bring some up, and I'm sure the other folks here will be able to provide sources.
  17. Make friends with the banger racers if you can, i've found most are happy to swap parts with folk to keep cars on the road and especially body panels. If they have a good panel and yours is rusty they will usually be happy to swap since they know they will be destroying them anyway
  18. Very cool
  19. the polar light harley quin bug has 3 sets of custom wheels, uscp do a number of aircooled wheels such as brm,s, finks garage do a few resin pieces including an engine(theres a post by mdlbldr i think that shows them in what did you get today) sometimes resin porsche 356 engines pop up on facebook, highlight model studio have a wide range of vw photo etch, bestmodelcarparts do some really nice transkits for the tamiya bug that would probably work with the 1/24 revell with a little extra work, scale production also do aircooled style rims. I'll have a look through my parts boxes to see what else there is cos I think I have most of them
  20. you can buys those conversion kits, theres one for the vw golf/jetta to that looks pretty smart
