Dodge Ram 50
stitchdup replied to crazyjim's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Cool, I like the sorta japanese style your build has, it works well with the colour arches and rims -
This is the UN version of this kit and just to warn you all the glass in this kit is awful and doesn't fit. The front lights took a lot of work to even look this close while the indicators are unusable. Anyway on with the details. I fitted the interior from a jag xj220 trimmed down to fit. The chassis is a hybrid between the audi and the vanagon and uses all the audi running gear including the 4x4 and v10. The body has also been lowered over the chassis by just over 1/4 inch. Paint is tamiya ts51 with duplicolour clear.

Revell California Wheels Rabbit Question
stitchdup replied to stitchdup's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thankyou sir, thats some good info, I assumed the interiors would be the same. I might see if a can find a grille from something else to do the square lights, and i think i may be able to alter some big rig rear lights for it. -
Cool, I remeber watching this car race on grandstand? saturday afternoons as a kid. There weren't much car shows then so my parents made sure i could be homw to see it. Thanks for bringing back some old memories

Revell California Wheels Rabbit Question
stitchdup replied to stitchdup's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm sure amt will rerelease it, and I'll get one or 6, lol. They did the scirocco recently and its a pretty nice kit for its age. Needs a little work to correct the engine bay and engine mount though. I should really finish mine. I would like to see a jetta transkit for the mk1 and 2 kits too. I'm sure if someone did a grille for the westmoreland mk1 it would sell too cos I'm not the only fan of these kits. -
does anyone make a 60's D100?
stitchdup replied to wrenchr's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I'm sure I've seen one in resin but since it wasn't something i was after at the time I didn't save it -

Wheel arch adhesive question
stitchdup replied to br67's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use humbrol or revell poly cement for stuff like this, and if my cuts aren't quite right i'd fill them from behind with the 2 part acrylic nail filler for the extra strength, then normal filler to finish. If you decide to use the nail filler i'd recomend the 2 or 5 min activator as the 10 min stuff softens the plastic around it until it resets, while the others dont so much. It is tough to rub down but where you need extra strength without too much thickness i find it good -
Cool, I have one of these to build so seeing this has given me some inspiration

Revell California Wheels Rabbit Question
stitchdup replied to stitchdup's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
thankyou sir, guess i need to add one of these to the stash. I think the rear lights might be wrong but i only know the us version from 1981 onwards so the earlier ones might have had the euro lights. thanks again -
how many of the driver aids have we seen fail in recent years. There's toyota deciding acceleration should be completely random, teslas crashing into anything and the lane assist/colision avoidance software just plain not working. I'd rather have someone we can blame behind the wheel instead of a computer that has no gray area that a driver would recognise and do something about.

Can I just say all of them? they provide plenty inspiration for colour, style and customising and are what got me into interesting cars

theres a few vws I would love to have. Well in reality its more than a few but these are the less common ones, i'd have anything from the vw family None of these pics are mine

Just my luck, I bought a tamiya to rob the engine from

As I'm sure many of you have noticed I'm a vw fan. I have the 76 and 83 euro golfs already but the california wheels version has caught my interest. On the box it shows the USA bumpers and side marker lights but are those parts actually in the kit? Also does it have the much larger rear lights that the USA versions have? I like the idea of having a USA version in the collection and since there isn't a westmoreland version this may be my best option

thats the one sir, I believe he is a member here though i could be wrong about that -
Over the last couple of months I've found many of the vw kits I was searching for. As it happened, I found most of them at one time and was especially pleased to get the corrados as they were near the top of my list, though they might be a little under scale compared to the revell mk1. Since the corrados have the hoods molded onI'll probably leave them curbside so I can build a g60 engined kamei mk2, possibly using some of the zender parts to build the ultimate 80s golf with modern stance. The resin ghia body is from airtrax and looks pretty nice so it will be getting the chassis and running gear from a tamiya porsche gt3. The kubelwagen will probably be done with a cal look style as i made a drag car out of my last one. The celica was a mystery wrapped kit from a store over here and the mk1 racer I had to get from the us as i couldn't find one over here. The new beetle was to replace the one i turned into a coe pick up.

It will be some day Curtis, I've been gathering /hoarding vw kits so I can build the oldlocal vw garage (long since closed) as it was during the mid 80s, though I'll have a few newer cars from the vw family in it. It should be fun as the building itself is pretty old and has some decent stone work to model

There is a resin 356 engine on the german auction site that looks pretty decent if thats any help for you -
I built this from the pirelli edition kit. I swapped the engine for one of the clearly scale 16 valvers (I hope Jeremy is back selling these soon, I need more) and changed the wheels for something a bit more racey looking for a clubman hillclimb style. The rear wheels are front wheels from an esci escort and the fronts are narrowed rims from the tamiya jeep cherokee fitted with some fujimi turbo-fans, and used 2 lots of the esci front tyres. The only change to the interior is the option steering wheel from the amt scirocco and a replacement gear stick as the kit one went ping into oblivion. I removed the trim molding from the drivers side wheel arch and drilled out the mounting holes. I used a mix of ak and citadel washes to weather/dirty it up and then used a front spoiler from the fujimi mk2 race car kit under the front bumper. I snapped this and taped it back together to go with the racey look of being duct taped back together to keep racing. I need to repaint the exhaust agin it seems, it didn't look bare in the flesh. Bonus points if you spot the 80s music reference

its neep and tatties mashed together (turnip/swede with mashed potatoes) I'm not surprised with the haggis though, its not allowed in the us, (apparently its classed as offal) yet you can purchase chicken thats been washed with bleach for some reason, lol. And haggis is awesome IMO. If you are ever in scotland you should try it, as long as its made with a sheeps stomach cos otherwise its just a lie/fake news, lol (Thats just a joke before anyone gets twisted over it)

Wow, thats a work of art
