What cars interest you in resin 1/25
stitchdup replied to 5.0man's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
My list has a little vw bias but here goes, 1. Bay window vw van , bus and pick ups 1968-79 2. type 3 vw in notchback, squareback and fastback bodies 3. mk1 + 2 ford escort wagons 4. vw sp2 5. vw mk golf/rabbit with USA spec (I kinda want one of the westmoreland ones with the ugly bumpers and square lights) 6. mk6 golf trans kit for the fujimi mk5 7. 3 door mk3 golf 8. mk4 golf wagon -
Does anyone know if the pinto engine is the same as the engine in the euro mk1+2 escort rs2000 and sierras? I know the engines in them were called pintos

changing the bulbs on one of the renault laguna's is a major job. A load of parts from the engine bay need to be removed just to get enough space to get your hand in, and removing the headlight means taking the bumper off so there's no time saving. The local renault garage ended their contract due to how bad they are to work on

Now THIS is ridiculous!

One of my previous employers had a land rover 90 wheelbase. He worked as a house builder and owned a couple of hotels where i worked in the kitchens. The one day he came in for his lunch (he always came to the hotel I was working in that day as i gave bigger portions) and i noticed the window of the landy was smashed on one side. I asked him if he'd annoyed someone in a slightly jokey manner and he went a little red as he said he had taken a different ladder to usual and didn't notice it was a little longer so when he slammed the back door it left through the front window. He said its only money and it would teach him to take more care next time. A couple of weeks later after getting it fixed he did the same thing again -
I think I’m done with Duplicolor
stitchdup replied to Brutalform's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Could it be the plastic at fault? I've had the same thing happen when I haven't been using duplicolour and it seems to happen more on tamiya and revell kits. I found giving a couple of coats of duplicolur plastic primer first stops it -
I use enamel paint in the same colour as the flock, but the flock i use is also shorter than most of the hobby packs (longest strands of flock I have is half a milimetre). I can also get it colour matched to paint if anyone is looking for matched colours for anything

one of those toyota 2000gt cars would be pretty unusual, and I think there is a race version as a kit but for the life of me I cant remeber who made it, possibly fujimi

If I Ran Revell....

I'd re-release the vw corrado kits and tool up a bay window bus, pick up, and camper. I would look to having one of the big audi sedans or even the TT in the line up since the under 30s seem to have them as a bit of halo tuner. Some euro engine sets would also be in the line up along with some wheel sets. I would also have some drift cars such as mad mikes mazda's instead of the dtm race cars for a year, then do them alternate years so one year would be drift and the next year would be dtm. I would look to time attack cars too given how popular they are with the younger croud. I would have 2 or 3 vintage kits in each years line up based on the most popular requests on my web site and throw in one vintage oddity each year in a limited release to give the collectors something they think is special at a premium price but really isn't. I'd also have some truck trailers for the semi builders in 1/24 and 1/25 as there really isn't that big a selection and the resin stuff is expensive. I'm sure I can come up with more -
WW III, the war on plastic.
stitchdup replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
the expanded polystyrene can be used as a good filler for models when mixed with poly cement and it melts down much faster then chopped up sprue. I would think that it may be able to be used in a modified mold to make model kits. I'm thinking some sort of heated metal mold in 2 parts that molds the bulky stuff down with heat and pressure. -

Is that one person the same one that thinks global warming is a myth by any chance? -

They are cleaning up the mess though. I'm getting an error when I try to post a link but google ocean clean up and you can see the technology being used. There is hope, but personally I dont use plastic bags anymore. The only plastic I use is my kits and model stuff. If you ask in stores they usually are happy to give you cardboard boxes for your shopping and as a bonus to the retailer they save on recycling the boxes and you help save just a little bit of the enviroment -

do you live near a beach? if you do pop down with a bucket and spade and see how many colours of plastic you can find, it might shock you how bad the seas are now -
I suffer from CSBM too!

This last couple of months I think I've added 50 kits to my stash though some of those were ones I've been searching for, most were just kits that caught my attention or were too cheap to say no to. In the same time period I've finished nothing. I think moving forward this year I will try to only buy kits if they are vw's i dont already have. I dont intend adding many kits to the stash this year but like any addiction relapse is always a high risk -
water? you mean mixer for whisky I assume

Isn't Ru Pauls Drag Race the same thing

the aoshima and fujimi wheel sets are a good source too, but a lot of them have stance tyres
-
look for hobby design, loads of modern tyres in sizes from 14 to 22

Thanks folks, I had'nt even considered the fire aspect but its usually pretty wet where I am.

Can someone explain to me why you folks in the US spend so much time raking leaves? (seen loads of passive aggresive notes posted online on this subject) Where I live in scotland we just leave them where they fall, though I do mow the ones off my mothers lawn, but even that gets spread out again in the spring as free compost but that could be cos I'm cheap. Even when I worked for a gardening service when I was younger, out of about 50 customers we only had a couple that wanted them picked up but they were both hotels so that made sense to me as it would save cleaning

I've ordered from clearly scale at least 4 times now, and while I hear nothing until it arrives then I usually get an email to check my items have arrived safely and I will be ordering again once he's well and back at it. It may take a while to arrive but I think the parts are worth it. I know I'll be getting more of his vw engines and probably the bumper conversion for the olds 442 chow car.

The future of offroading?

The cab area of the rivian looks really familiar, does anyone know if its sourced from another manufacturer? the second one looks like a knock off defender -
Aoshima wheels, but no tires?
stitchdup replied to fiatboy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you want non stance tyres look for hobby design, they have a decent range that fits the aoshima rims though they cost the same as the rims. -
Modelhaus Offical Update/SA
stitchdup replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm not so sure Snake, in the us your cars may be over 50% . Look how many trans kits there are for every ferrari and lamborghini, they must be selling and they are $80 plus each. Its the same with a lot of the tuners. They might not get posted here much but possibly thats due to how many comments start with "not my style but" which would put people off. If its not your style keep that to the end instead of starting with it, if you start with something positive people are more likelly to keep building. I know I've posted tuners here and no comments but post something US and you get comments. Hopefully this reads as constuctive criticism of the hobby in general.
