1966 F350 Ramptruck
Atmobil replied to fairlane1320's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That is a really cool project. I want to do something similar to the resin 65-67 Dodge D300 cabs that I got. I just bought the Revell 68 Dodge Dart Hemi as a christmaspresent for my self. That would look great on a similar style Dodge truck. Great job you have done on this -
In the latest episode of Dirt Every Day they drive a Unimog.

Thank you for the pics on that kit. It is great to see how old AMT kits looked when they where fresh. I have the 66 Falcon in my stash and looking at your pics and my Falcon kit and I'm just blown away at how crisp the details are. I have seen how much detail is lost over the years in a Revell Mercedes 190SL, I had the issue that came out in 2010 or so (anniversery edition) and I have the original from 1962 (or is it 60?) and the details on the early issue are so much better. Old issues are always better

Thank you for that one, looks like a simple trailer that one
-
Anyone got a piture of the trailer in this kit?
-
The kit portrays a 68 but you may be able to fool someone in to thinking it is a US spec 67 (Hasegawa has a US spec 67) since the US bugs got the standing headlight one year before the rest of the world. If you want a 66, go for the Tamiya kit, a 67 you would go for the Hasegawa kit and for a 68 and up you can use this new tool Revell kit and kitbash with taillights and bumpers from the 70 Cabriolet. They have made a strange way of designing the chassis for this kit as it has "double floors" but I do belive that it goes togheter very nicely. I think it would look great as a "late looker", if you don't know what that is, google it. Basiclly a "cal look" style bug but later than 67 modelyear. A traditional cal looker must be a 67 or older.

I have written about the new tool 68 from Revell AG before but I can write it her also. This kit (released in 2013 or 14) was when it was announced incorrectly said to be a 68 1500 however this is not a 1500, it is infact a 1200 "spar käfer", that means it is very much and entry level bug. It has the older style bumpers and taillights. It also has a simpler interior with a headliner that only covers the middle of the roof as one example. However, the engine is a double port and is most likley modeled after a 1500 of a newer year than the 68. If one wants to build a 68,69,70,71 or infact newer than than that one has to combine this kit with the drop-top 1970 cabriolet kit. Here you can see some photos of real "spar käfer"s: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=138698&postorder=desc

Sweet looking Bronco. Really dig the wheels, I have to get some of those for my self. -
Fun with Foose

That looks just so right and the decals suit that so much better than the old revell kit. -
Esci/Revell Mercedes 500 SLC
Atmobil replied to PowerPlant's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have all 3 versions pictured above and some years ago I started building one of them and starting a conversion job to make it into a wagon. It is my phantom Mercedes SLT project, as I have a strong belief that the SLC would have sold better as a luxury 2 door sportswagon. Anyway, I also have loads of refrence photos of a 1:1 79 450SL that I did some work on some years ago so I did start to detail the engine and enginebay. It is lacking quite a bit but I think it can be a true gem if detailed the right way. -
History of MPC's Fifth Generation El Camino Kits
Atmobil replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Why exactly would the nose fit badly on the real cars? The Monte Carlo SS is built on the same platform as the El Camino, Malibu and others. Would not a simple "nosejob" be an easy thing to do? -
That is a really great job on that kit. Must be one of the best that I have seen. And welcome to the forum from Norway aswell

need to understand (( Update 11/15 ))
Atmobil replied to rel14's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When I built the Monogram Mercedes SL in my avatar photo some years ago I had managed to get hold of two mirrors for it (not sure what kit they came from but I had one left and one right hand mirror that looked correct). I attached the driversside mirror and was then going to attach the passengerside one. I had it between my fingers and it dropped to the floor. I have never found it, I built the Mercedes in 2013. -
Nice one, modeled after the FMT?
-
Cool, I have thought of buying one for a long time and at the Norwegian Challenge show this September I bought two of the original releases (one with and one without continental kit) and I paid only 100 kroner (about 12$) for both. But maybe I will get one of these aswell

Yeah, I got t mail aswell and my Plus 20 account was a reccuring payment and was paid last now in September. That means that I have paid for a Plus 20 account untill September 2018 and I only get 30 days to pay for another more expensive account now. No way......bye bye Photobucket. They have shot their own foot in this case.

"Holy Grail" Models?
Atmobil replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can't really think of a real holy grail kit for me personally. The only things "holy grail" for me are of cars that don't exist as kits. I do want anything 60s Dodge pickup, I got the Modelhaus 65 D100 to replicate my own 65 D100 but a plastic kit would be great (come on Moebius or Revell or anyone else for that matter) I want kits of so many cars that there are no kits of such as a 60s Mercedes Benz 190 or 200 sedan I made this fake boxart some years ago. I have also managed to get hold of the kits that where my first kits such as the Monogram 53 Chevy Bel Air and the 40 Ford pickup street rod. I guess that maybe I could see a sort of "holy grail" in the first plastic model kit that I had to glue and build my self. That was a Academy 1:144 Junkers JU88 bomber. This one is on Ebay right now for 20$ https://www.ebay.com/itm/ACADEMY-MINICRAFT-junkers-JU-88-A-4-/231027113806 But I'm not really that interested in building planes anymore would only get it if I found it at a swapmeet or something and I would build it for the nostalgia and nothing else. I have however over the years collected many of the Heller 1:24 and 1:43 car kits in black boxes and would love to complete the collection one day. I have searched out and paid good money for many kits in the past 12-13 years (many trough Ebay, I have been on ebay since April 2005). Myabe this is a sign that my model collection is big enough and that I'm satisfied with what I got. Maybe on thing that I can think of now is more accesories and figures kits, I got some but I'm sure there are more of them out there. -
Camp Crystal Lake Truck
Atmobil replied to dig's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great looking truck, I really love your take on it. This is almost the same idea that I have with mine. Make it look "stock" and wheathered and the body modifications are so subtle that many would belive it to be a stock truck. -
Here is my take on the 50 convertible that I built some ten years ago. I also started a 49 Coupe some years ago that I have not yet finished: The 49 is an old gluebomb from the Tournament of Thrills edition that I bought on Ebay. The 50 is the issue that came out about 2005/6 or something like that.
