  1. This thread brings to mind the Trumpeter Pontiacs and Monte Carlo. 5 peice radiator on the Pontiacs, 6 if you count the shroud. I don't need a 5 peice radiator for good detail. Way too many parts and the engines looked like carp.
  2. Well,, actually, no. While it is true all Canadian built Pontiiacs had Chevy engines , Firebirds and Camaros were never built in Canada until the 4th Gen cars starting in '92. Also all 1st gen firebirds sold in Canada had 100% Pontiac engines. They NEVER came from the factory with a Chevy engine. That was just a lie the team owner Terry Godsall told the racing officals to let them race the car.
  3. Cool, I'll look forward to them. Here's one I've been working on .
  4. Nice save. Cool to see some love for a 3rd gen Firebird.
  5. I found this thread on the '69 Firebirds. Pretty interesting stuff. http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=7815.0
  6. I don't usually do race cars but that's mostly from lack of kits that interest me. I'd love to do some Trans Am cars though and if they could also be built street stock, well all the better.
  7. MCW also does resin '68 and '69 Impala SS hardtops and Biscane 2dr sedans. The '69 hardtop is even available in formal style roof like the kits were and the sloped rear window style.
  8. 4 MIGHT be '60 Edsel, I'd have to dig mine out to check. 2 is '64 Ford. Note the humps to clear the seat backs, not on the 1/1 car.
  9. Here's a link to the Drastic Plastic club's fotki page with the instructions for the Blackbird. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/mpc-instructions/1-sort/mpc-turbo-charged-f/#media
  10. You wouldn't need to reduce it down to 1/25. Just need it smaller than what's available right now. 1/6 or 1/12 or maybe even 1/3 would be fine . I did this one back in the late '90s. I guess you could get smaller stuff back then. But, you could always do a google image search, find a pattern you like and print it on clear decal sheet like I did with these seat inserts. You could easily peice sections together to make longer runs like down the full side of a car. Don't know what color you need Snake but here's a quick example of what I found with a simple search,,
  11. Also good to keep in mind it dosen't have to be black. As far as I can see, the gold decals were available with almost all the body colors that year with the exception of silver, charcoal grey and orange. You could even get gold decals on a gold car. I have an unbuilt Blackbird. If I ever get around to it I think I'll do it in either dark blue or burgundy. Just with I had a clear set of glass for it instead of the dark smoke set.
  12. There's one in the AMT '63 Corvette kit on the chrome tree. Pretty common kit.
  13. Got the hood almost finished and added the missing rain gutters and weather stripping to the side windows. Also glued on the nose and side skirts. As you can see from the pics, I still have a ways to go before paint but I still expect this one to be painted before the 1/1 is ready. LOL
  14. Those look more like Pontiac RallyII wheels than 500s. Is this the look youre going for?
  15. The Revell Foose version of the '67 Coronet R/T has a set of the big billet Magnum 500 style wheels. Maybe too big, they look to be 22 inch or larger. I'd go measure them but I already traded the ones away I had. To big for anything even I build.
  16. Scale Finishes has it listed. I have used a few of thier paints and they work well. Thier "outside USA" distributor is my local hobby shop here in Fredericton and Scott's a good guy to deal with too.
  17. I was just wondering because the ones in that pic were done almost 2 years ago and don't show any yellowing at all yet.
  18. Just out of curiosity ,, How long until it starts to yellow?
  19. Exactly. And the foil mold doubles as the reflector if you want. I use a soft pencil eraser to press the foil down on and around the kit lens to get as much detail from it as possible. I made about 3 dozen in about a 1/2 hour one afternoon.
  20. Thanks for the advice David but I think you misunderstood what I meant about the paint. The Honda color blue on the spoon is exactly the paint I'm using on my 1/1 when I repaint it in a few months. It just doesn't show the true color in the pic I posted. This pic shows the color pretty accurately on my monitor.
  21. Looks great Steve. Black really suits those cars and the chrome makes it pop.
  22. I'll be using 1/25 MPC kits. Not much to show yet. I'm using the body from an '82 kit as it's a hardtop and all the other MPC 3rd gen Firebirds are T-tops. Other than that, the body from the '82 and '85 kits are almost identical. The only difference I can see it they added the small triangles in the front corners of the side windows on the '85 that were missing from the '82. Mine has the common vented hood that came in every MPC Firebird kit after '85. I used the one originally in the kit on another build a couple years ago so I pirated one from a '90 kit. Unfortunately, these hoods aren't exactly "square" so the vents and creases aren't centred and don't line up properly with the front bumper cover. You can see in the pic how I added some material on the sides and files some away in places to get it lined up properly. I'm also adding the peak down the center that is missing from the kit parts. My car also has the "Aero Wing" on the back instead of the regular flat wing. This is another part that isn't exactly correct so I'm adding a strip made from the flat wing to correct it. , , And color test shot. It's a current Honda color called "Dyno Blue" . A bit more green/grey tint in real life than in this pic. Close to traditional "navy blue" and very similar to the original paint on the car but in pearl instead of a solid color.
  23. This is not the Wraith ,, it's the "Black Moon". from the movie "Black Moon Rising". This is "The Wraith" ,, actually a PPG Indy Pace car with a highly modified Dodge 4 cylinder engine.
  24. It should be fine. The only colors of plastic I've had bleed through the paint are the hot colors like red, orange and yellow, I've never had a problem with black.
  25. Wasn't AMT still owned by Racing Champions last time those two kits were reissued? That was 2000 and 2004. I never thought I'd see this kit reissued but I can't wait to get one.
