New Project for 2017!! 1957 Fairlane 500 Sunliner
Sledsel replied to Fast Floyd 2's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The body line on the 1:1 does fade away. There is one in my dads garage that I can see. Now, 4 door cars are deceiving because the door follows that body line This interestingly enough is the only part Revell got right on their 57 Custom body. The remainder is a mess IMO. -

New Project for 2017!! 1957 Fairlane 500 Sunliner

Looking good. One day I will do one also. Love 57 Fords and the AMT is a great looking kit 2 bits of advice to do what you want with. The continental wheel needs lowered, All the ones I have seen are dropped down and stick just above the decklid. The only flaw on the AMT body is in front of the rear tire. Some shaving and sanding fixes it in no time -

Good job on a tough kit. -
I use those credit cards and phone type cards sent in the mail. Trim and use like a little bondo squeegee.. https://youtu.be/yEp5r5t_Os4 also, Bondo spot putty is nice for minor filling, but keep in mind, it will shrink with time, so do not use to fill major gaps or holes. Bout $5 at Walmart and will last a long time. Another tip is to get self adhesive sandpaper and trim and stick onto small pieces of flat wood or plastic to be sure areas sanded are flat with surrounding areas. The foam finger nail file boards are great (and cheap) also. The cardboard ones, not so great Keep up the good work

Very cool, built a lot of these over the years

Great color combo. One of these is in my stash and I think I may "borrow" some of your ideas.

I built one a few years back, cool old kit. Will get another someday since it was destroyed in a move. If I could make a suggestion, on the future one(s) try trimming out the panels between the bars around the engine. Makes a world of difference

Round 2 January 2017 Product Spotlight
Sledsel replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Well, my wallet is saved for a bit. What I hope to see in the future is the '64 Galaxie (even as a craftsman kit) the Ohio George Multi Maverick and the AWB 67 Comet. Those are on my Round2 wish list. -
Looking great! Love '62's

Looking great......as usual.

Those wheels look to be the standard AMT or Monogram NASCAR wheels from the 90's Car kept looking familiar to me, then I saw my son playing with his Hot Wheels and noticed this.............

Looking great!

Looks good, Don't see the roofs on these chopped in this manner much. Usually the rear window area in tilted forward to make up the length difference and the window does not change in size. The photo is a build by "Fletch" As good as you are doing this way, maybe try the other way on another and see how they compare. I vote loose the scoop unless it is a drag car of sorts. The era's do not mix

Love the lower valance under the grill. Fabricated from flipped over grill pieces I assume. My 48 had similar headlights, but I had smaller rings from a 56 Ford truck. The "V" butted glass is nice too

Thank you for the info, I will be watching for sure. For the chopped car, I an sure you will do it justice no matter what! Yea, the Revell 57's are really bad IMO. One day I will have to mail you a corrected one and let you do your magic.

Looking great TĂșlio!!!!! I will be watching progress on this. Been wanting one and the box art looked odd around the windshield area, but I was hoping it was an "art touch up" issue. From what I see on your build, it is. The issues I see on the art photo is the windshield looks curved and not flat and "V'd" as it should be. Another issue is the windshield seems too tall, but I know the trim is molded to the windshield. I hope this takes up the space. The Chopped version was bad for this flaw and mine has not been built due to it. If you look at the pics posted you will see what I mean by the windshield looking off. I used the door frame as a point to judge the windshield height. I also posted a pic of the chopped car and it shows the height issue pretty clear. Opening is above the frame and drip rail If anybody's build will verify how it really looks, yours will. Your builds and photography are excellent.

1966 Ford Fairlane 427 Compitetion Coup
Sledsel replied to Reeves Racing's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Good start. Love the frame set up. Quick question, is that a lacquer based putty? If so, after awhile it will shrink on you, and you will have sink marks. If that's what it is, I'd dig it out and fill with epoxy first. Just sayin, been there and have some showing where I filled on the shelf.
