  1. Picked up this at Hobby Lobby for $25 since kits were 40% off.
  2. What is up with that grotesque first pic?
  3. If you had 2 sets of cylinder heads from the AMT 50 Ford you could make some finned heads. The Monogram 40 Ford heads would be closer in scale but the water outlet area would need to be reworked.
  4. The fifth one from the right almost looks like the axle
  5. Nothing for truck builders
  6. Where is Chad?
  7. I have the old LP here and that was my first thought also.
  8. Was at Harbor Freight and ended up with a mini hack saw. Works much better than my hobby drag saw and is was only $4
  9. Agree on all points.... luckily it is pretty hidden
  10. The trim should not be tough, and if the bed sides and floor are separate they will hide the seam. If you feel up to it, a little reshaping on the tail light bezels and quarters will help the look of the rear. For some reason Revell made the rear of the bezel flat and the bezel and top of the quarter lost its body curvature. I was able to fix this with some knife trimming and a small sanding stick. Below are some images showing the correct shape and look. Now, I am just sharing info.....
  11. Really sharp! These 1/32 kits can be built very nicely as you have demonstrated
  12. Nice conversion. The rear window looks really good. I love 57 Fords and I have a Ranchero build that got boxed because of time restraints. I went about it totally different and used the body from the Revell '57 Ranchero and partial roof from the Del Rio. The roof/doors on the Ranchero kit is too short and the body on the wagon needs to much correcting for me to do again. It is one of those "I am only doing this once builds."
  13. Toothpicks will probably break IMO. Go to Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, or somewhere like that and get some finishing nails. I know Home Depot has them on display on the front of the rack so you can see the length diameter ect. 2 lb box will last you forever. Besides this application, I have found many modelling uses for them.
  14. Went from this....................... to this in 2 (working) days...
  15. Sure something is not missing? All the marks seem to line up. Seems with the length they would need to be supported as in this pic...
  16. I am really liking the looks of this build. Colors and execution are excellent. On another note, for being a newer tool, it cracks me up that the rear end basically sits on the frame rail.
  17. Well, I thought I was going to just fix this body after reading all the opinions because if I had a donor 55 I'd probably start swapping the chassis and anything else better and that defeats the purpose of building something similar to what I did as a kid. All that is out the window. Whomever had this trimmed the rear and front valances. and nothing fits. If the valance is on the front, the grill opening is too small and if the rear is flush under the trunk, it needs almost an eighth filler at the wheel well. Both valances are even with the trimmed rocker so I think they were trying a psuedo channel job on it. Well, going to take a chance and watch ebay for a body and pieces. So much for my cheap quick reminicent build. UGH Thanks for the input.
  18. Definitely a thought to ponder
  19. When I opened the kit, it sure brought back memories. I completely forgot about the old flathead small block Chevy!!! I will update this on my build.
  20. Well, I bought this 59 (60...) off ebay at a low price. Built one as a kid and liked the box art and as a kid it came out good from my recollection. Knowing that I was getting an old kit and the simplicity of it was nt a shock, I knew what it was. Also, I am and was pretty sure it is a later release in an older box since it was molded in red, no biggie, it was cheap and complete in the cool box. Well, received it and started on it from the bottom up, then came the issue. I never noticed by the ebay pics that someone cut most of the rockers off. Now what? Easy enough to repair and get looking like the way the kit was because the rockers were squared off and did not roll under like they should. Now this adds to my dilemma, choices being: Replace body and build Repair and build Repair and correct it a bit and build I am sure I can get the plentiful 55 Corvette body and cut the rockers off to make it more correct. They actually roll under as they should.
  21. A little silver added to the body would make it look really sweet and bring it all together. Maybe something like this with Red and Silver?
  22. Cool kit but the engine is more of a Chevy big block, not a 428. Now, swap the intake heads and valve covers and it would look more acceptable as a 428. (FYI) I'll have to watch this one since I have not started mine yet. Build on
