The 1/24 scale was a limited production resin from SMP24. Their runs are typically 50 kits and priced starting around 24000 jpy. They usually sell out very quickly but I have seen them on eBay. There was also a motorized kit by Nakamura in around 1/28th. Detail was not very good but I seem to recall the wheels and tires werent bad.

How about using one of those "Air Eraser" sand blasting air brushes? Use it to strip the paint then light touches to get the brushing effect.

The Milano has long been one of my favorite Mustang show cars. Its do-able but alot of doing needs to happen. Rex - I seem to recall they shortened the wheelbase also to make it a pure 2-seater? Another shot of the grille

I was working with this kit recently also. If you plan to add the heater hoses you will need to create the connections on the front side. The other thing I didnt like was the bumpers glue straight to the body so I wound up creating mounts from rod and tube. I haven't decided on the carbs yet. Either hide the kit ones under the air cleaner or find something on the aftermarket. Good luck with your build and I'll definitely be following this one,

3D printing is definitely here - I get some great parts from vendors on Shapeways and many are in my choice of 24th or 25th scale. Prices are alot less than buying extra kits just to get the one part I'm looking for. My idea for Revell was they should resurrect the Monogram name (if they own it) and use it as the banner for hobbyists that want to order custom kits, or parts of kits like a body only. I'm guessing they already have a wealth of CAD files from the tooling that could be converted to print files. To the posts Ace had put out on desktop manufacturing, Formlabs has been sending out links to forums on how to use 3D printing to create injection molding tooling. So thats already here as well.

There will be whats being described as a 'throw-back' livery to celebrate in part the 50th anniversary of IMSA. No one was saying much about what its supposed to look like though.

Corvettes are some of my favorite race cars so I will definitely be watching this one. I had a similar project in mind but was also thinking of using the Burago die-cast as a source for parts. This print hangs over my desk so I have a source of inspiration.

I simply referenced the idea that Porsche took their rear-engine car and turned it into a mid-engine one. No argument that very little remains of the rear-engine chassis (not sure of the driveline) and its a 911 in name only. Enough of the original car must remain somehow as this car runs in the IMSA production class. To change a DMC to mid-engine you likely would wind up with something near the Lotus Esprit that carried a V8 in its final variant. Again, only the concept is the same - back bone chassis, mid-engine V8, obviously different engineering required. Not easy, certainly not cheap, but I wouldnt be surprised if at least one mid-engine DeLorean exisits somewhere.

This is the car I was referring to - mid engine '911'. Definitely not air cooled.

Better idea is to follow Porsche's lead - flip it around and make it a mid engine. If you can make a 911 a mid-engine car, why not a DeLorean?

Hey Dann, thanks for posting pics of this kit. It actually looks quite workable - good basic shapes and all. is it close to being on scale? Some of these LS kits kinda ran amok. Now to find one will be the task.

A detailed engine bay conversion is another possible use for 3d printing. I sent some suggestions to Randy for his start-up 3D printing business, engine bays being one of them. How many of you would buy a conversion kit - inner fenders, subframe, suspension, small detail pieces, and driveline (possibly optional) - if offered for the Pantera?

I'm curious if one of those UV light pens (or UV fixtures) could be used to fix the yellowing of the decals without drying them out like being in the sun might?

Definitely been using the Eye Ball process on this one. Part of the goal was to keep the shape of top the Pontiac fenders as it was to maintain the styling - the distinctive downward curve from the door shutline to the taillights. I didnt want a box grafted on the back end of a GTO.

The issue I had with the '64 GTO was the rear bumper has a v-shape to it following the center line of the body. So it wouldnt work with either the ElCamino bed or wagon tailgate. The Chevelle wagon bumper is straight, but the ends are vertical, while the Pontiac has angled ends to the bumper. Had to cut the GTO bumper ends and splice them on the Chevelle bumper.

is this what you had in mind? Its supposed to be a mash up of a GTO and a Tempest wagon - resulting 2-door GTO wagon. I did a '64 GTO-based Ponchomino that used the bed from a '66 El Camino. I 'm going the do the Chevy version of this and put the Malibu wagon roof on the ElCo body.

Share all you can, I'm sure I'm not the only one that will want to see it. Your methods for adding and enhancing details are some of the best.
