  1. I built the Testors version of this a while back and now have the Academy re-box ("European Classic Car") which is unchanged, but the quality of molding seems better. Fit of the body parts that have to be attached (front/rear valence, headlight buckets) can be a bit fiddely but are ok if you do some test fitting. The kit shared parts with the 250 GTO so some aren't quite accurate for a California Spyder - door cards and seats are the most obvious in need of replacement. The carbs also if you plan to detail under the hood. Alex Kustov (a frequent poster here) has a great build-up on his Italian Horses website http://italianhorses.net/Gallery/Italeri/Ital250Cal/250CalSp.htm Bill - I cant wait to get my hands on some of those MBW wire wheels - where did you get them???
  2. To respond to your original question - my interests lie in 24th scale (or 25th if the right subject) but YES, I would want a kit of the Esprit GT3 if it were done in 24th scale. Based on the pictures you posted, that Healey would be another. The list other desired subjects keeps growing but I dont think posting them here is what you were asking. As for 3D printed parts, to date I have bought from several vendors but all through Shapeways. They range from engine parts to bodywork. So far I have been verify happy with the quality them - virtually all are equal to or exceed what I might have been able to get from kits (ie. plastic blob carbs) More important to me is they allow build options where I don't have the mad skills at scratch building like you do with plastic or Randy D has in metal.
  3. I have heard of this but never tried it. Have you had any issues with shrinking or cracks over time? Do you use this instead of other fillers in certain situations only or most all of the time?
  4. Wow - amazing sounds. Having that and those screaming Ferrari V12's racing each other had to be fantastic. And talk about irony. I was just opening the box of a Wave (Heller) 917K kit that I picked up recently and the first thing I see when I open the site is this tab. So cool - Thanks Bill.
  5. Tamiya has their release of the McLaren-Elva 1/24 slot car body on sale on the Tamiya USA website right now for $5.00 (same with their Lola T70). It looks alot like what I remember of the Monogram release but I havent seen the Monogram one in years. You can find all three of their available slot car bodies on the plastic models - accessories page. https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/plastic-models/model-accessories/page/2/
  6. Hopefully this will mean better, more stable production and distribution. Heller always had some interesting subjects but seemed like they could be hard to get some times.
  7. I have the same kit that oddly enough has the same issue with the roof (I wonder if it was a shipping issue?), but now will have to go and look at the decals and carpet piece. Too bad they did this as a curbside, but at least that open front chassis area invites all kinds thoughts for engine swaps. LS or supercharged Ford perhaps? Will definitely be looking for your work on this one.
  8. There was at least one pretty good resin kit a while back, but they are really hard to find. I have seen a good looking built up based on a slot car body and an AM Grand Sport chassis and driveline.
  9. Excellent! Thanks for the help - I never think of cars from an older model year for having more complete detail. My mind always goes to newer is better. Thanks again.
  10. Excellent !! There are at least a half dozen cars I want to build from this kit. I am also really glad they decided to add driveline detail - thats half the fun of building race cars.
  11. I recently acquired one of the AMT Styline kits of the Ford Galaxie and was looking for a more detailed chassis for it - something with separate driveline and suspension hopefully. Any suggestions on kits or aftermarket that might have something appropriate?
  12. Depending on how much work you want to put in, there is this option as a 3D printed body from the vendor Custom Vinyls on Shapeways.
  13. The chrome is definitely too much for those wires, especially on that car. I was thinking of using the pe wires from the 250 SWB but will see when I actually get my hands on the die cast. I suppose a driveline could always be added but I'm not sure how much cutting I'll want to do.
  14. Thanks both of you guys. I never realized these were BBurago based - surprising (and somewhat disappointing) that they dont have any engine detail, but they do seem to look good. That 250 TDF is one of the cars that got my attention. I might swap out the pe wire wheels from one of my Gunze Ferraris once I get my hands on some of the 3D printed ones I have seen previewed on this forum.
  15. Fireball modelworks has a great set of GM door handles. You get 4 pair for $3.00 - almost too good to pass up. He also has them for GM trucks and two Mopar styles.
  16. I have been seeing more of these available on places like ebay, but have never seen any pictures out of the box or reviews. They have several variants that are not available as kits or from other diecast company. Does anyone have any information about the quality of these and level of detail provided?
  17. Does anyone know of good replacements for the tires in the Italeri kits? I have it noted the replace them in both the SWB and NART Spyder kits I have.
  18. The eengine and driveline are molded almost as if to display them outside the car. (Picture of the box). There was also a driveline in kit #g211, but I have never seen it anywhere.
  19. It looks very similar to the one in the Gunze kit (#G215) I have. So far its the only one I've found with a complete driveline.
  20. Definitely great paint work - love that color combination. I've had thoughts of building a convert in that scheme. (It will have to be the sportsroof body though as i haven't seen a kit of a '70 drop-top.) Nice build of a kit with somewhat goofy breakdown - who thought of separating the floor pan and 'frame' that way??? I know people comment on the windows but that front-end still bugs me. Maybe if someone does a 3D print conversion for the Revell '69 kit, we can get a correction for the 24th scale out of it.
  21. What about the AMT kit? That supposedly is 1/24.
  22. Quick question - does anyone know if this is the same mold as the Lola T70 spider that Tamiya was selling as a slot car body? (I believe they called it the type "LT")
  23. Not sure if you can still make use of these, but 3D Model Specialties has this set of 3x 2bbl carbs available on Shapeways. They look pretty good and you get 5 sets for $11.00
  24. See if you can get Motorsport.tv. They have just about every type of sportscar racing you can think of - lots streams free, annual cost is 40 gbp. The Bathurst 12hour ran free on there.
  25. One of my favorite cars - traditional front engine Ferrari GT. So disappointing there's no engine as that's a focal point of Ferraris. Oh well - I guess you could always do this:
