1974 Dodge 100 Adventurer Pickup
stavanzer replied to jsc's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Restore it! It looks great as is. Use Molitow pen on the molding, use your favorite wood graining method, and tell folks that ron got a good deal in 1975 on a leftover High End truck. -
I remember reading the Kit review in SAE when this first came out, in 2010-2015 or so. I believe Bob Downie built it. I seem to recall that there were stacking/spacing issue with the Front End Frame/Radiator/Chassis interface, there was even a photo. Does anybody have the issue, and can they tell exactly what to look for, and how it got fixed? Thanks. Alan

Watching Game One of the Stanley Cup with the family. Kids and Grandkids, and Pizza & Chips. Im taking a break to keep the Amazon Parrot company so he does not freak out.

4 AMT Kits and One MPC go on my list. The Three Big Rig Trailers are of interest, and the '64 MOd Stock is a treasure trove of parts. The Switchers '32 Is a decent Kit, and has lots of good parts.

John, I cannot speak to all versions, but mine had Steel Wheels. The engine in the kit is the Willy's "Hurricane F-134" Four Cylinder. This was the older flat head, with a new OHC "F-Head" to get more power. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willys_Hurricane_engine

Review of Revell's new chrome spray paint
stavanzer replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Why in Tarnation is there such a rush to Clearcoat your Chrome? Clear Coats yellow, and dull, after time. Too Many coats of finish begin to Blur and Obscure. 17 Layers might be fine for real 1 to 1 cars , but I think that many of today's Modelers have an obsession with finishes that might be a bit obsessive. Spray, your chrome of choice, install it, and be done. -

Odd Place to Find Models
stavanzer replied to Calb56's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have been buying things at Re-Sale stores (Goodwill, Salvation Army, and others) for 30 Years. Goodwill seldom lets Model Kits escape to shelves, now that they have the 'shopgoodwill' online store. Other stores get them some times. Estate sales have been a loser for me, but a fellow member of our local model club, goes every weekend. Most times he is skunked, but when he scores (4/5 times a year) he hits it big time. Last haul was 75-80 car kits for 50.00 bucks. Most were 1990's trash, but a good dozen or so were worth listing on eBay. He made about 300.00 from those. He has found at least 2 Pocher kits, and those sold well too. Model kits are every where, but finding them second hand takes time and luck. -
Great Build! I really Like how you are building it.

Scalemates is a crowd sourced website. It is very bad about kits and timelines. I refer to them, but never trust them. The issue is that somebody will post accurate info, and then the next guy comes along and changes the good info, for his (poor) understanding of the same. Revell/Monogram, and AMT/MPC kits seem to have the most errors. Monogram kits in Revell boxes, and MPC kits in AMT boxes seem to collect the most mistakes. It has gotten better, but I would not take anything on the site as gospel with checking someplace else first. Regarding your specific question, I suspect that the 2014 Falcon is this kit. -

Very Sweet. With Today's building and finishing techniques, I have no doubt some very sharp models will be built from this kit. -
Will the rear bumper for the '69 Falcon work for you? I have the Mod Stock '69 Falcon, and would gladly send you the bumper, if you want it.
