Dodge Ramcharger
stavanzer replied to Hmann68's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
All this needs is the Monroni Window Sticker, and it could be fresh off the showroom floor! Really Great Factory 'as built' Model. -
Dang, George, I would If I could. The pic is on the Round2 Website in their blog and over 10 years old by now. It might be in one of the threads discussing the '64 Olds convertible kit, when it was first confirmed. I am not Autist enough tonight to read them all and look it up. Normally I would but It's been a 60 Hour weekend, and I'm toasted.....

Yeah, Raoul, it is. I believe that these kits date back to AMT's "Bad Old Days" when they needed to produce new kits to sell, without having the budget for new tooling. Hence, they scrounged bodies from their Tool Bank, added the generic tube chassis and hopped up engines, plus decals, and had "New" kits to sell for a comparatively small outlay for tooling. I believe that this helps to explain the clearly 'Ad Hoc' nature of the kits. They look 'thrown together' because they were Thrown Together....... Meant for the kits and teens who were the major market at the time, they did not have to be right as much as be "Cool". And they were, as the series continued for quite some time, apparently. At least, the above is my theory. I could be completely wrong. John Mueller, Dennis Doty and Tim Boyd, along with other who know more can probably give much better answers.

'78 Ford Bronco rode hard.....
stavanzer replied to pack rat's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great work. Looks like a lot of cars did in Phoenix AZ, after one of the famous "Monsoon" rainstorms. Out in the desert around the city, this is what many of the cars looked like on the muddy, dirt roads. You've done well. It does not look 'Heavy-Handed' to me. -
Here are a bunch of the Cars with those Chassis. I cannot find Directions for the Streaker itself. You can see that AMT used a similar Chassis with two different Front Axle configurations. One with tiny leaf springs, and one without. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-1958-edsel-unre/?view=roll https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-1965-afx-falcon/?view=roll https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-chevy-ii-funny-/?view=roll https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-mercury-psyclon/?view=roll https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-mustang-high-ro/?view=roll https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-super-boss-funn/?view=roll These are all very simple kits. Fun to build, but not really accurate or very detailed. You can see that the engines and other parts are sort of 'Mixed & Matched', with Injected and blown engines put in kits with no real plan. I really like these kits, and have several of them. The Streaker or the '65 Chevelle would be Awesome to have back.

Aw, Dang! My First Crush!

I suspect that the Original "Hanger Shot" that started this whole adventure had the Altered Wheelbase Body from the Streaker on it. Round2 Might re-create the Chevelle/Edsel Chassis, or just use the one in the Mustang with some kind of "Newly Tooled" parts hack to make the body and chassis work together now, even if it is not quite how it worked in the OG kit. We will know eventually.

1/24 Revell '79 ('81?) Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
stavanzer replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Well, now we know for certain. It is the Revell Snap-Kit with better decals. I still want one. -
Without being able to see the Streaker instructions, I'd guess that everything except the chassis, has been found. So, this might be a pretty safe guess.

Volvo F12 Low Roof

To judge from the "Kit Contents Pics" on the Italeri Website, they threw in one sprue from of of their accessory kits. Makes a nice bonus. -
