  1. I have no answer for you, Rich. Just be thankful that you do.
  2. So, about 75% '32 Coupe then? Could the bed be from the AMT '40 Willys? Or maybe one of the Lindberg Model T Pickup kits?
  3. I've actually got the AMT Coupe kit, so there is that to start with. Looking at the picture, it looks like Chrome, Small Block Headers. So, Maybe the Coupe's Engine? Those Salt Flats discs on the front are in some versions of the AMT '32 Roadster, as well as many old Lindberg Hot Rods.
  4. Richard, that is exactly what I thought, too. Although I pictured the '63/64 car.
  5. I saw this page in another thread. On the bottom of the page is a rear view of Smitty's Deuce Coupe Pickup. It says that instructions are available for build# 2325 for only $1.49. This is from 1963. I was born in 1963. This thing has captured my imagination. Now, I want to try to build it. Caption says that it uses the AMT '32 Coupe as a base. That's all the info I have, so far. Could that be an AMT '34 Ford Pickup Bed? Was the '34 even around in '63? I do not remember the history of the '34 P/up kit. I like the Wide White Slicks in the rear. Can't see much of the engine. Looks like twin carbs, on some kind of highrise manifold. 409 mebbe? Do you think it uses the Coupe Chassis? I'm on the hunt for a copy of the Building Instructions mentioned in the ad. Also looking for ANY more information, Pics, Ect. that might help with building a copy of this.
  6. Steve, I've been told by the girl stocking kits in Bakersfield (Central California) that you have it correct. Despite being 2.5 hours from the docks in San Pedro, we are almost the very tail end of the distribution.Personal observation over the last 3 years, has proven this. We get kits 4-7 WEEKS after the Mid West, and 3-6 WEEKS after the East Coast. And some kits that show up in other stores, just NEVER get here. I've never gotten a good reason for this........
  7. So, What are the chances that the last Two, (Cobra Chopper & Black Max) will see the light of day? The Black Max is the only one of the 6 that moves me.
  8. The same thing happened to me with the ' 60 Chevy Truck. I saw it once. went back to buy it later and it was gone. I've never seen it again.
  9. I wish my H.L. still had the '40 Sedan kits..... They've been out of them since February. Maybe, with re-stocks happening, I can get one now.
  10. Snake, what a great story, and such great efforts to save two genuine survivors. I always appreciate reading your build threads on survivor cars. You share your reasoning and motivations with us. That is, in many ways, the primary reason we build models. To Capture (or attempt to re-capture) a feeling we had for a kit, or a feeling we want from a new kit. Ultimately, Model Building is an Emotion Driven Hobby. How we Feel when we are building, or when we complete a kit, is the payoff for the time, money and effort invested in each build. Your work is ALWAYS, fascinating, and is a Must Read, anytime you post these type of builds. Thank You for sharing these with us.
  11. Ah, Hollywood.
  12. I just wish somebody could scan and save those Kit Pics, to the forum, so they don't get lost.
  13. That Camper Shell, looks about like the ones I remember seeing. I sold some in the late 1990's that were almost that swoopy, so I don't think there anything at all "Odd" or "Funky Looking" about. In fact, I will guess, that Not only is it patterned after a real one, but a Popular Real One.
  14. For Concrete lain in 1986, it is in very good condition. Almost no weathering at all. I'm still at a loss as to how to fix the slippery finish.
  15. Two Members of the Action Team Available at the same time! That has not happened since the '70's! I've got the Fire Chief. I'll be getting the Bond Fords. All is good!
  16. I Love this car! Awesome Period Correct, Banger!
  17. Beautiful Build. You really convey the feel of the era. Good Show!
  18. Awesome Racer! Nailed the Look.
  19. Nice Build. You did a wonderful job, building it OOB. Matching the Air Cleaner to the Body is a discrete, subtle touch. I like it.
  20. Yes, but AMT did restore some parts to the Pro-Shop version. Blower Scoop, and some other small bits. Not much really.
  21. Awesome Resto! I'd have never chose the colour Orange, but it looks surprisingly good in it.
  22. George, I'm the OP. I applaud your reasoning. But the '68 Cornet is DOA. The ONLY reason IMHO, that you are seeing the More-Door Impala is the Sci-Fi crossover appeal. Frankly, this kit was not created or intended for us. It is mostly a creature of the TV, Sci-Fi community, and was made for them. That we Car Modelers get a new kit, is a nice Bonus for Round2, but not the reason for the tooling. Like much of the Coke Tie-in Kits, Builders are not the primary market. Collectors are the Primary, with us a nice secondary. When a huge TV/Movie franchise stars a '68 Coronet, then you can start agitating for one. Until then is (sadly), just another 52 year old, mostly forgotten, car. (one of many 50 year old forgotten cars, I might add. I'm still waiting for my '68 Jeep Pickup)
  23. Arghhhhhh! Yam-aha.... I'm done
