Unfortunately, most Pro-Mod trucks or Road-racing trucks will have to come from your ability to craft them from whatever stock truck kits are available. There are many pieces that can be kit-bashed from car kits to build any style truck you wish. Not a very rational option for the kit manufacturers, since there are very few 1:1 organizations promoting these type trucks, such as NASCAR with their truck series. A NASCAR truck kit bashed with a stock kit could be formulated into a rather believable road racing build, as could using the chassis and parts from some of the Pro-mod kits under available truck kits. Just use your imagination and build your idea of what one should look like.

I have built a couple of these and have more in my stash. If you can figure the front clip issue out, you will be considered a modeling genius.

What do you drive?
TarheelRick replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is my daily driver now, since this picture was taken I have added a bull bar and a topper shell. It has a 5.0, 10 speed 400 hp, 410 lbs./ft torque: This is my other than daily driver, 16 ft. 50 hp: -
Beautiful work on this one. I love the custom pieces in those old AMT kits, have a couple I want to attack. Looking forward to more updates.

Well it’s finally announced.?
TarheelRick replied to NYLIBUD's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, we will be able to continue driving our ICE vehicles, if we can afford the $10 or more/gallon of fossil fuel. Which will undoubtedly be heavily rationed and nearly impossible to find. As has been mentioned there is a place for EV, but not a nationwide mandate. -
Thanks for the information. I have seen several pictures where some of the cars were four door cars and plenty of the cheaper body styles (Fairlane rather than Galaxies, or Belairs rather than Impalas) so I can understand the suspension pieces.

I continue to find more details I missed every time I look at this one. It is so simple in concept, but so well finished. Whereabouts on Rte. 66 is this, I happen to have an empty right seat in my F-150.

Not much into the Rat Rod look, but you have definitely recreated a beauty. Nice Job.

Johan 1962 Oldsmobile Super 88 --built from NOS kit.
TarheelRick replied to rsmodels's topic in Model Cars
That is one mighty pretty more door Oldsmobile. Excellent work. -
Cool build, really like the paint scheme. What differentiates it from a NASCAR, other than the ARCA decals? I'm asking because I want to build a mid 60's ARCA/SCCA stock car.

Just happened to pick up one of these at the show and swap meet last Saturday. Haven't opened mine yet but looking at the earlier post it appears this kit comes with two-piece tires. If so, what glue is recommended for them.

Went by Wally-world looking for a couple of things, surprisingly they did not have everything I was looking for. However, as I was walking down the aisle in front of the store, I walked past a display of model cars. I am an addict so couldn't help myself. Picked up the Grump Vega and a 59 Cadillac Ambulance called the "Surf(er) Something". Rather disappointed in the low parts count, not really sure all the parts are included. It is basically a stripped-down version of the Ghostbusters car. But looking through my stash I notice I have an Escalade, so maybe somewhere down the line there will be a Northstar powered 4WD Ambulance - just thinking out loud. If I think inside too much it makes my brain hurt.

Inexpensive paint booth recommendations
TarheelRick replied to WizPorsche944's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
They all work pretty well inside; however, they all have to be vented to the outside, usually through an open window. -
At today's Show and Swap Meet I made a pretty good haul. Won an AMT '36 Ford Coupe in the raffle (5th year in a row I have won raffle prize). Scored a Gurney Lotus, a restorable Johan 62 Plymouth Fury, some Revell '67 GTO parts, some wheels and tires, a nice chrome tree from the Revell 49 Mercury. But the piece de resistance was a '64 Pontiac Bonneville convertible, a bit rough but very restorable also scored a '64 Impala kit so I can transplant the hardtop onto the Pontiac. I have been wanting a 63/4 Pontiac for a long time, just hoping AMT will find the molds and reissue it. Until then I will be satisfied with this one.

Great looking scene you have created. Some really nice detail work. The only thing missing is a rattlesnake hiding somewhere,

1969 RANCHERO GT "ONE OF A KIND"
TarheelRick replied to TooOld's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Are you sure you didn't sneak in some pictures of a real 1:1 Ranchero. Have always been a big fan of the Ranchero. Your build is beyond amazing. The detail around the taillight area is mind-blowing. In case you haven't realized, I really like this build. -
Looking forward to getting back into show and sell mode. Got my table reserved. Ya'll come on down and help an old man pare down his stash before the dumpster gets them.

Mooneyes Volkswagen Bus
TarheelRick replied to Dan Hay's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Excellent build, I love VW vans (beetles, Ghias, all the air-cooled models). The paint work is beautiful. What happened to the "D" in speed on the passenger side? -
Will watch this build, that is one beautiful Fairlane. Wish I had the cash to buy it. Those wheels, or some very similar are in the '53 Ford Convertible kit from Lindberg. As for the continental kit, I have seen one, but cannot recollect where, maybe someone else will chime in.

The original Allison/Merlin/Rolls Royces sounded a bit better, but that is an amazing piece of engineering and craftsmanship. It's just my guess, but on the original the cockpit area was fairly tight, so on a 7/10 recreation to make room for a pilot that particular area would have to be a bit out of scale.
