  1. Thanks for the information. I have seen several pictures where some of the cars were four door cars and plenty of the cheaper body styles (Fairlane rather than Galaxies, or Belairs rather than Impalas) so I can understand the suspension pieces.
  2. They also make pretty good dirt track tires. I used a set on my Skeeter build and they worked very well.
  3. I continue to find more details I missed every time I look at this one. It is so simple in concept, but so well finished. Whereabouts on Rte. 66 is this, I happen to have an empty right seat in my F-150.
  4. Not much into the Rat Rod look, but you have definitely recreated a beauty. Nice Job.
  5. That is one mighty pretty more door Oldsmobile. Excellent work.
  6. Cool build, really like the paint scheme. What differentiates it from a NASCAR, other than the ARCA decals? I'm asking because I want to build a mid 60's ARCA/SCCA stock car.
  7. Just added another vote.
  8. Just happened to pick up one of these at the show and swap meet last Saturday. Haven't opened mine yet but looking at the earlier post it appears this kit comes with two-piece tires. If so, what glue is recommended for them.
  9. Went by Wally-world looking for a couple of things, surprisingly they did not have everything I was looking for. However, as I was walking down the aisle in front of the store, I walked past a display of model cars. I am an addict so couldn't help myself. Picked up the Grump Vega and a 59 Cadillac Ambulance called the "Surf(er) Something". Rather disappointed in the low parts count, not really sure all the parts are included. It is basically a stripped-down version of the Ghostbusters car. But looking through my stash I notice I have an Escalade, so maybe somewhere down the line there will be a Northstar powered 4WD Ambulance - just thinking out loud. If I think inside too much it makes my brain hurt.
  10. They all work pretty well inside; however, they all have to be vented to the outside, usually through an open window.
  11. This fellow has way too many beautiful toys to play with. Got to love the Ford Econoline.
  12. Love that yellow Datsun B-210, oh yeah, the rest are pretty cool also.
  13. At today's Show and Swap Meet I made a pretty good haul. Won an AMT '36 Ford Coupe in the raffle (5th year in a row I have won raffle prize). Scored a Gurney Lotus, a restorable Johan 62 Plymouth Fury, some Revell '67 GTO parts, some wheels and tires, a nice chrome tree from the Revell 49 Mercury. But the piece de resistance was a '64 Pontiac Bonneville convertible, a bit rough but very restorable also scored a '64 Impala kit so I can transplant the hardtop onto the Pontiac. I have been wanting a 63/4 Pontiac for a long time, just hoping AMT will find the molds and reissue it. Until then I will be satisfied with this one.
  14. Great looking scene you have created. Some really nice detail work. The only thing missing is a rattlesnake hiding somewhere,
  15. Are you sure you didn't sneak in some pictures of a real 1:1 Ranchero. Have always been a big fan of the Ranchero. Your build is beyond amazing. The detail around the taillight area is mind-blowing. In case you haven't realized, I really like this build.
  16. Looking forward to getting back into show and sell mode. Got my table reserved. Ya'll come on down and help an old man pare down his stash before the dumpster gets them.
  17. Excellent build, I love VW vans (beetles, Ghias, all the air-cooled models). The paint work is beautiful. What happened to the "D" in speed on the passenger side?
  18. Will watch this build, that is one beautiful Fairlane. Wish I had the cash to buy it. Those wheels, or some very similar are in the '53 Ford Convertible kit from Lindberg. As for the continental kit, I have seen one, but cannot recollect where, maybe someone else will chime in.
  19. The original Allison/Merlin/Rolls Royces sounded a bit better, but that is an amazing piece of engineering and craftsmanship. It's just my guess, but on the original the cockpit area was fairly tight, so on a 7/10 recreation to make room for a pilot that particular area would have to be a bit out of scale.
  20. Nicely done MOPAR, that yellow really pops. I have never really understood the exhaust system on these cars, why not under the axle and out the back?
  21. Really enjoying watching this build take shape. Full on customs are one of my favorites - right now I have three in the works. Just a suggestion is to narrow that bumper and cut it into the fenders or make it fit within the grille opening. When this was in putty the rear 3/4 view reminded me of the '59 Chevy aircraft carrier look, but once you put it in primer that went away, and the design became much cleaner. Build on and keep us updated.
  22. I would like to have one also. But what would be great is to just print the pieces as the original kit, then cut the kit body just as the original modification was done.
  23. When I built mine several years ago, I did my hinge just as you did, except, I reversed the process. I glued the two pieces to the top of the frame rails and the single piece on the lower edge of the nose piece just below the grille opening. Either way is much better than the AMT way. Looking forward to more progress on your Willys. I have three kits with various parts missing but sufficient pieces to build at least three more versions of this kit - one of my favorite kits.
  24. That is one wicked Rambler. Really like the overall build and the paint is over the top. Good Job.
