Some excellent work on this one. Sure wish Round 2 would reissue this one or the 63 Bonneville.

As always I am completely impressed with your ability to make something out of nothing. That is some beautiful scratchbuilding. Looking forward to more updates.

Old '97
TarheelRick replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Beautiful weathering work, overall nice build. My first reaction to this generation truck was, "Wow, Ford has really outdone themselves." Thanks for sharing it with us. -
Very nice build. Paint looks great and you have really nailed the stance: not too low, but down and nasty.

Got my issue yesterday, will hopefully get some time in the next couple of days to really look through it. Like what I have seen so far.

One suggestion if you do decide to scratchbuild your own. Use styrene tube and slip a piece of floral wire into it, makes it stronger and will not sag.

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
TarheelRick replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Got really silly yesterday and decided I needed to go aquatic. I have wanted a fishing boat for many years, but my late wife would not go for it. Seeing as how I am a bit older and my balance is sometimes questionable, I decided against a narrow fishing boat. This one should serve my purposes. The picture is from the net, I do not have possession yet. The dealer I bought from had to get the boat transferred from another dealer. It is 16' with a 50 hp Mercury 4-stroke engine. I really wanted it in black, but blue is the only one in stock. Could have ordered one but it would take almost three months to get here. -

Not trying to start a flame war, but your answer lies within your comment. -
Just completed stock '51 Chevy Sedan delivery
TarheelRick replied to traditional's topic in Model Cars
I cannot add any more than what has already been said about this beautiful build. You sir are an artist/craftsman. Really enjoyed all your subtle, and not so subtle changes to get this build the way it is finished. Simply outstanding work and an excellent end product. -
My favorite era of drag racing. You have done a masterful job with this build. Really enjoy everything about it. I have a resin '62 Falcon Sedan Delivery, will have to get it on wheels and throw down a grudge match.

I was going up into the higher foothills to visit a friend. While rounding a slightly hidden curve, just a "bit" over the center line I met a NCHP. His lights came on immediately, I pulled over to the side of the road and waited for him, no use in trying to evade him. As he was writing the ticket he said, "You drive like that up here, crossing over the centerline can get you killed." So, I guess it is alright for the locals, but not for the lower foothill patrons. Cost me $25 plus $15 court costs., lot of money in 1967.

Custom parts from the trash; what's old is new, etc.
TarheelRick replied to W Humble's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
There are always the popsicle sticks cut down for bed floorboards in older pickups. Another use for ink pens, especially those large round ones, is to split the barrel down the center and use them as headrests on roadsters (sporty types); similar to the D-type Jaguars. I have also used packaging trays from cheap cookies to make a sleeper bed for my 1/32 race car hauler, simply sprayed it with photo cement than flocked it, looks quite impressive. And yes, I do have a large selection of clear plastic packaging in multiple shapes. -
Weathered Tyres & Rims

Most of those are models within themselves, very nice work. -
Got my issue late last week. Haven't had time to really read it, but a quick scan looks to very interesting.

Beautiful work of an amazing piece of nostalgic history. Just have to believe the torque-steer on that front drive axle would be overwhelming. One thing I would like to mention is that you may should have switched the exhaust manifolds from side to side on the two front engines to allow the openings to point toward the rear. Still, some very masterful modeling.

If this kit is a true repop of the original there will be cut marks inside the roof A & C posts. There will also be a cut down glass piece that replaces the stock glass. It is a "simple" process of cutting, gluing, puttying, and finishing. Instruction sheet covers the process. Looking forward to your build. I have a couple of these and am planning on a "salty" one, probably the only part of the kit will be sheetmetal.

Very nice-looking decal work and a neat overall build. Must have just rolled off the trailer, don't see any dirt on it. -

Need some suggestions
TarheelRick replied to TarheelRick's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Solid solutions, are there any more? -
I really hate to throw my empty coffee cans into the recycle bin, so I am asking for some suggestions on how you use them. As you can see this is a good size container, just over 9" tall and almost 5.5" across, and they have really neat handles molded into the side. So far, I have a couple full of various nuts and bolts: one is stuff I have scavenged from things I have taken apart and the other is for left over pieces, you know when you buy six and only really need five or the muffler bearing you ordered came with some extra hardware. I have one attached to the side of my spray booth, I keep it full of wadded up paper towels and spray into it when I am cleaning my airbrush between colors. Now, I will only empty one in just a little short of three months, so my basement is not full of them - yet. I just emptied one and have one other on a shelf waiting for some miraculous inspiration on usage. So, what say you - How have you used them?

American Racing Daisy Spokes and spindle mounts
TarheelRick replied to DoctorLarry's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
The spindle mount spoke wheels are available in the AMT Double Dragster kit and many of the AMT '56 Ford kits. Not familiar with the daisy spokes, so can't help you there. -
