Hi Paul, I love your diorama and the saw mill is a great addition. It reminds me of the one we had when I was a kid, it ran on an old flathead Chrysler 6 cylinder engine. Nice work on your scratch building for the thresher. I was on ebay and found this auction that might work for you for your wheels. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-3D-printed-wheels-for-1-64-antique-Tractors-Wide-Rim/202998234740?hash=item2f43a33e74:g:Sg0AAOSwLY1exzB0 Here's some pics of my Model A Buzz Saw, you need one of these for your farm too.

As for the chains, I'm with you, if you can't hold it in your hand it's hard to tell if it looks right. The chains hook to the bottom of the tow bar. There is a hook welded on each side of the bar for the chain link to sit into. The hooks on the top bar of the tow sling is for the slack of the chain so they don't drag the ground. Picture 2 of yours shows Luke taking the chains out of a storage hole in the back of the body. If I'm not explaining this right check out this pic. The tow bar is folded up but you can see what I mean. Here is a couple of mine too but I let the chains drag on mine. I hope this helps. Mark

Your painting it? Man, I figured some weathering on it and you would have a nice looking work truck. Nice work so far, keep it going. -

What did you see on the road today?
mchook replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice, you don't really see them that often. That was my first car (well, the first car I drove legally on the rode) Mine was a 2 door baby blue with a white top and a 289. Fun little car, too bad I totaled it drag racing a friend on a back road. I was on the wrong side of the road next to my buddies 70 Fairlane 500 going about 75mph when a lady backed out of her driveway. It turned the bumper on her van blue on the corner, knocked out the tail light & bent the back door a little. It caved in the drivers side of my Fairlane from headlight to tail light. With a new fender, door, quarter panel & a lot of time I probably could have fixed it but I was 16 and it was just not old enough or cool enough of a car back then. Thanks for the memories! -
Beautiful car & beautiful work.

That's sharp, I like it a lot!

This is great work. I've been thinking of doing something similar but I have too many projects started now. Keep it up, I can't wait to see the end result.

I don't have much luck finding the good models at ollies, but yesterday went went & they had shelves full. (Middletown N.Y.) They had the newer corvette kits (not interested) 55 vette, escalade, camaro, cutlass, t-bird, K123, Diamond Reo, Flatbed, Tanker, and Pumper Fire truck, some planes & ships. I looked at the shipping boxes on the top of the shelves and saw they had more to put out but they were the same kits. If they were different I would have torn into them, the nice thing about being 6'8" I can usually reach the top shelves. I have to travel about 40 miles to get there but we were going to other stores so it worked out. They have another ollies in Kingston but that's a little further & I think I have enough right now.

Thanks guys, it's always fun to get one done in a week just for the heck of it. Not worry about how much detail I do under the hood or if the paint is just right, just having fun doing it.

Patina’d 34 Pick Up
mchook replied to OldNYJim's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
You guys are right, these old trucks were built to last. My father had 4 34 Ford 1 1/2 ton trucks when I was a kid and a school bus full of parts for them. Man I wish we had them today! But I remember most of the old sheet metal was good on them. Here's a pic of an old Chevy he had that took a pretty good hit way back when & still never rotted it just got rusty. Great work on your truck, it's coming along nicely. -
1976 Chevy tow truck

Thanks guys for all the great comments. Yup, the only thing I did was cut the 10 off. This kit had a lot of nice decals in it. -
Quick build for fun & to hang off my newest wrecker. Tried to sell it on ebay for $4.99 as a rebuilder with no bites, so it turned into one of my junkers.

Built pretty much out of the box. Added a Midnite Cowboy wrecker body & built a different wheel lift. Nothing great but it was different for me because it's not rotten & rusty.
