  1. Thanks for the kind words guys. I am happy how this one is turning out. I have left off some of the detailing that should be done, like the rubber gaskets around the windows. I tend to mess that up pretty well, so I purposely didn't try them on this one. I may try to fully detail the other one I have. Body is now on the chassis.
  2. I have found that if I do not shake it well before I use it, the finish is more silver than chrome. I get good results and it is often hard to tell where I have touched up chrome pieces (as long as I have shaken the pen well).
  3. There is still a source button, first one on the left. I have never used these buttons, so I do not know if that does what you are asking about.
  4. No. It looks like the links were broken somehow.
  5. I used Zing Embossing Powder. Can get it online or at places like Hobby Lobby & Michael's. If you look at the photo of the painted body, you can see a few jars on the shelf.
  6. John Wick 2!
  7. Had to stay around the house today waiting for a phone call (2 clubs had meetings today that I could have gone to), so I finished painting the body today. Got a bit of over spray on the front that I am hoping I can touch up or hide with the bumper. I will give it a week before I detail and clear it.
  8. Glad that things are falling in place for you Russ.
  9. Decided to paint the interior the same as the secondary color of the body, Tamiya Pearl Light Blue. Mainly did this because I really need to use some of the paints that I already have. If I get some time this weekend, I hope the finish painting the body.

    '70 Cuda T/A

I did a quick Google search for Swede Savage's 'Cuda and found this video of the restored car. The poster did a complete walk around of the car and very quickly put the camera under the rear of the car. I think I saw a bolt heads/nuts on the rear. Could be that it did have a Dana. Checks the rear at about 1:13. https://youtu.be/NHXrGEO4GWM
  11. Of course, now that I read my post I really meant to type horizontal. I blame the paint fumes
  12. Takes up less space and cost less than the fingernail polish stands that I use. Any issues with storing the paint jars nearly vertical?
  13. If you use enamel, they better already be mounted and installed on the car. You will never be able to touch them again.
  14. You could pick a shade of red you like and finish it off with dullcote. Maybe leave a bit of texture in the color coat.
  15. That glue is going to be a more permanent solution. I like the wire tie idea. This allows you to easily remove it from the case later if you want to take it to a show or club meeting. I would also worry about the glue having an adverse reaction to the tires or the case.
  16. I do too, but it can get expensive. I always get at least 2 bottles when I order a color. Better to have a little left over than to come up just a little short. Remember that you have to plan ahead when using some of the automotive paint suppliers. It can take 4-6 weeks to get sometimes.
  17. I like that better than the poorly chopped Chevelle we trashed a while ago. All those blown Chevys have to go in something. Actually, I wonder what that started out as.
  18. I have had the same problem with automotive paint and Tamiya primer. Now whenever I use automotive paint, I prime with Duplicolor primer from the auto parts store.
  19. The function that let members delete the threads and posts has been removed. You can ask a moderator to remove threads if you want them taken down. There is often still good information in those threads, even if there are no photos to go along with them. The magazine does have a Facebook page.
  20. Amazon must have some weird packaging agreement with the carriers. I got a single 1/2 oz jar of embossing powder from Amazon that came loose in a 14"x12"x4" box.
  21. I have not had the chance to see it, but have heard about it from several people and it sounds impressive.
  22. Everyone has already given great advice. Since model cars are stationary subjects, the tripod will be your best friend. I use a wireless trigger on my camera when I shoot, so I do not have to use the camera's timer. The timer and remote triggers are just ways to get your hands off the camera before the photo is taken. I use my camera in aperture priority, set it to f36 and let the camera do the rest. I generally get pretty decent results without a lot of effort. Once you start getting nice photos, you will soon realize that you just picked up another hobby....photography.
  23. Gran Coupe convertibles are pretty rare. I owned a Gran Coupe...Coupe for a few years. Thanks for sharing these.
  24. Yes, both of the kits I bought had straight bodies. I had my LHS bring them in for me when they first came out. I mentioned that there were issues with warped bodies and the owner told me to go ahead and check before I left the store with them. He wasn't going to let me leave with them if they were warped.
  25. I hope you didn't take that wrong. I say it as someone who has a model (Porsche 959) sitting in view of my work bench that has a bad paint job and a fingerprint on the glass, to serve as a reminder of the time I should have stopped and started over.
