This site works perfectly for me and many others. Funny how that works. ? What mother board do you have, bet it is different than mine. How much and what type memory do you have, bet it is different than mine. What ISP do you use and what are all of their settings, bet it is different than the one I use. What browser are you using and how many other programs/scripts are running in the background? Clearing cache worked for some, but not you. Do you know why that might be? Yeah, neither do I. Do you see the problem we face when trying to diagnose issues like this? It is looking like we may need to do a major software update, that will add, remove, relocate many functions and will probably change the overall look of the forum. How happy is everyone going to be when that happens?

Dave is working on getting an update to the software ready to go. No guarantee that it will fix the problem. I do get a chuckle with these reports though. It wasn't that long ago that everyone was complaining and didn't want us to implement this feature. Now everyone can't live without it. We'll see what happens after the update. For those that are wondering, it isn't as simple as hitting the "Update" button. Dave needs to backup the system, which is rather large and time consuming, needs to schedule an outage, needs to set aside a large chunk of his time to monitor the update (it isn't all automatic and requires input), and then he needs to troubleshoot after the update to fix minor settings issues. When that is all done, and the board is live again, he needs to be available to look into all of the complaints and bug reports you guys will be sending over the following weeks. Add to that, most updates force us to use something we don't want to or removes something that we like. Which always leads to the "Why did you do away with ?????, that is why I was coming here in the first place" or "OMG, I can't figure out how to do ????, I hate change and am never coming back here again" or something like that. That is why we hate updates, thanks for attending my TED talk.

Within the first couple of pages in the magazine, it tells you what to do when changing your address. Not sure if there is an online way of doing it or not, so I would mail the change to the address shown in the magazine.

We allowed the one on the car, as it is part of the model, even though we didn't like the fact the op drew attention to it in the original post. We removed the person who posted the giant rebel flag and only the flag. We also removed the person who complained about how the mods do what they do and once again broke a forum rule.

We will need to lock the forum down, it will make it slightly more inconvenient for the regular members, as well as new (actual) members looking to join. This current attack is still ongoing.

Not able to go to switch pages on individual topics.
Xingu replied to GMP440's topic in How To Use This Board
We have repeatedly looked into this and there is nothing on our end that can be done about it. We will continue to apply the updates provided by the software vendor (we do not install every update) and hope it sorts out some of the compatibility issues that members have. I have mentioned before that with all the different computers, browsers, modems, switching hubs, routers and other equipment used by individual people or by their service providers, each with any number of customizable settings, there are going to be bugs or glitches in the system. Most of these are very minor inconveniences to individual members. Please keep reporting issues that you have, but keep in mind that we cannot fix them all. -
I wonder if similar discussions were had when they decided indoor water and plumbing should become mainstream or maybe when cellular phones came to market and ruined the landline phone industry. Maybe when video killed the radio star. Things change. Some things you have no input to whether they change or not. We will probably all be dead when they outlaw IC engines in cars. Before they are outlawed, it will be very expensive to own or run one. They need to squeeze that last dollar out of it.

We get a lot of spiders around the house, including Black Widows. I don't mind them when they are outside. The orb weavers are cool.

If you are following a specific section of the board and have notifications on, the spam posts will register just like a normal post and you will get notified.

People complain that they are on moderation when they first signup, so we relax the restriction and then the spammers hit. This, like the fight with the ads, is a never ending struggle.

Artists that should be in the Rock n' Roll Hall of fame.

I have heard of ONE of those bands. -
Artists that should be in the Rock n' Roll Hall of fame.
Xingu replied to Mike C.'s topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
The question that should be asked is: What should Hall of Fame (Rock and Roll purposely left off because that is no longer what it is) induction be based on? Long career, number of hits, number of albums produced, number of albums sold, first to do something, first to have a (whatever)in the band, first to use a (whatever) in the band, number of concert tickets sold, etc... -
FYI and for others. You don't see all the posts. Many are removed very quickly. I also don't care how old you are and what shows you watched on TV. This board has rules, in place for a reason, and you are expected to follow them. It is what you agreed to do when you joined this site. I should also point out that we had been lenient with this thread, as the policy is if we remove your post you are automatically put on 30 day moderation. We had not been enforcing it here for the more mild offenses. That has now changed.

Final warning. This thread will be locked and future ones deleted. Do not post anything that goes against the forum rules. If it seams a little political, it is political and will be removed. Many of the current world events can be taken as political, so stay away from those too. We are removing more and more of these. Several members have been placed on moderation and at least one member has been banned from the site. We like to allow you the ability to post freely, within the rules of the forum, but some of you like to push the boundaries. With all of the warnings that have been given, both on the forum and through PM, I can only assume you are doing this on purpose. Is losing the ability to access, view and contribute to this site worth the risk?

What did you see on the road today?
Xingu replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Please remember that we have a separate section for car show photos. This section is for cars that you come across out on the road. -
Is There A List Of JDM And Euro Parts Suppliers?
Xingu replied to oldcarfan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
@ctruss53 many posts ago, you said you said Shapeways was to expensive and that you were going to leave it at that....you didn't leave it there at all. Stop hijacking other members threads or you will be placed on moderation and/or temporarily banned from the site. The last thread got locked because you were beating a dead horse, stop looking for new horses. Not everyone shares the same opinions as you. -
Fair Warning - Some of you need to stop posting memes that are political, religious, demeaning, sexist or just in poor taste. We have hidden a lot in recent weeks. This thread will be locked and the offenders will be removed from this board permanently as it is clear limited bans and moderation do little.
-
If you don't want to support Shapeways, then don't buy from them. Some use them for the convenience, some use them because it is the only place to get the part they are looking for. Most people realize it is not the cheapest place to buy from. If you want to support actual 3D modeling businesses, then buy from them, post about their awesome parts and service. It is all about personal preference. Stop arguing when people do not agree with your way of thinking. State your case/reasoning and then let it be.

I did the same thing to my ankle...drunk playing basketball when I was 20. Tried to "walk it off" and when I went to the doctor 3 days later my leg, half way up my calf, was swollen and had turned black. Took a while but it finally got better. It was the same as yours, torn ligaments that pulled pieces of bone off when they broke away. Doctor said it would have been better to have a clean break. My ankle still "clicks" when i walk, 35 years later.

I have not had problems. Will flag so Dave can look under the hood and see if he can find anything that might cause this.
-
One last reminder: We have language restrictions here. You need to look at these memes closely before you post. I have just been hiding the posts and not issuing warnings. I will start handing out 30 moderation/bans going forward. Some of you have been warned before, so I know you are aware of the rules, yet you still continue to push the limits or outright break them.

Blanket statements like this are not entirely true. Some ads are directed to individuals by their search habits, but a large number are directed to the site via bot searches of this board. The bots have a field day with key words like "Models" and "Drag Racing." Luckily, we are able to head off most of the really bad ads, but occasionally the ad companies force adult content thru by using extremely generic descriptions. Every few weeks the ad companies change how they deliver some of the ads, that is how we often get ads that cover content. It is a tiresome job for Dave to continually have to tweak the settings.

We don't force people to use or not to use ad blockers, it is a personal choice. Unlike what Chad thinks, the ad revenue is enough to help keep this site free. Please keep in mind that there is also a point where it isn't fiscally possible to continue to provide a service for free. Gregg (and others) have given a lot of time and money to keep the magazine and this site going, scrolling past a few ads isn't that bad. We let folks post when the ads get out of hand and start covering content (which is out of our control) and Dave does his best to reign them back in.

Unfortunately, if everyone used AdBlocker you would either have to pay for this site or it would go away completely. Ads are one of the very few sources of funding for this board.
