Hey Sam with a Subie picture icon, I see where you're going..... been there done that but with a mid engine car to begin with. Look forward to watching your project. I see discussion about the roll cage, trying to make it less obvious. I haven't gotten that far, but was considering darkening the windows. I never had success with the Tamiya smoke, was thinking of trying Scale Motorsports carbon pattern decal that is only the black weave on clear background, something unusual but might be more effective. The race seats are another tipoff. This car has a race instrument pod that is over the stock gauge hood, plan to ditch that so it will have a speedometer. ? Since it's a small car, the trunk will be filled with a fuel tank (cheating with the filler on the deck lid) and spare, so it will have a modified Thule cargo box, with one of the rally lights. Yea those aren't street legal, that's why it will be retractible. I'm planning to have CB and scanner antennas mounted up there, that will retract horizontal when going through cities. Also considering a telescope with a screen for the co-pilot, similar to what These Guys Just Drove an E63 AMG Across America in a Record 27 Hours 25 Minutes tried (5th picture down). I look forward to weathering, like it went through a thousand miles of bad weather.

Vintage Top Fuel FEDs, 1:16 brass chassis

Amazing workmanship. I'd like to see the jigs for holding all that together. Funny, I just fabricated a very simple and not a replica, roof rack. I think making a jig would be half the time in construction. Is a mini torch used? Thanks for sharing. -

Thank you for letting me know you posted this! I thought it was really well done, and it's different. Doing a project like this is constant trial and error fitment. Have to ask, isn't it something like a 700SL now? ?

I was just looking at pictures of this car. Very impressed you pursued this. You now have the only model of this wild concept, very cool.

Thank you. He has made several subjects, very limited production. He does sell just wheels. If one does Fakebook, check out his page. Thanks!

The Ugliest Corvette Ever?
89AKurt replied to stavanzer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I kind of dig this one. ? -
Thank you. Made the roof rack. Used a punch to flatten the connection points, clamped down, and soldered with the stained glass iron. I channeled someone who builds mountain bike frames the old school way. ? First used the cutoff disk on the Dremel, then files, sanding stick, Flex-i-file and finally steel wool. Should be good enough in flat black. After looking at these pictures, will cut the feet down a couple millimeters. Started back on the engine, minimal cleaning up a few parts, and glued on a few parts. Could start painting next.

Thanks for the explanation. I should try using their two part primer again, not rely on the Tamiya primer.- 46 replies

Thank you very much for the poetic praise. Yes, I marvel that he could cast those parts to begin with, certainly an art. The wire wheels are especially nice. Once it was put in the display case, I forgot about the struggles. Thank you! Was it like watching bull riding at a rodeo? ? Appreciate it very much! Newsreel, you're dating yourself. Thanks!

?? Used Milliput to fill the front of the box. Fabricated a hinge using wire, and aluminum plate. I'm hoping this will be adjustable when glued in. I know there are issues to cram the engine in, namely the suspension mounts. I'm thinking of relocating the front ones. Look at those gaps! ? And cat hair. ? I made paper patterns, cut plastic, and think this works with the hood. This was actually easier than expected.

Airtrax 1/24 Ferrari 330 GTC - The Beauty and the Beast
89AKurt replied to Italianhorses's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Yes, basic parts came from the Fujimi Daytona, I made several tools during my NART project. Back to your topic, I ordered one of these this week! I have an Italeri 250 SWB that is missing the chrome tree and horrible tires, and the interior "tub" over the rear wheels, so it could work as the donor chassis. I really need you to make all the mistakes of conversion, so I won't. ? This transkit will allow me to go banshee on several projects. Now with the left-over SWB body, I can cut the roof and put on the Testarossa to do what master model builder David Cummins had drawn. Then I could do a 250 SWS (Spyder) resto-rod. Anyway, sorry to hijack your topic. -
Thanks! Appreciate that. I pulled all the stops on that. Thanks man! ✌️

I can't imagine doing those decals on the crazy bodywork. Good job!
