  1. What did you expect from teenage girls and women? BTW, a majority of HL employees are female. Asking them about a certain model kit in stock is like asking them if they carry a certain type of nail at a hardware store or certain type of spark plug for your car or power lawn equipment at Walmart. Nope, not lazy. Just clueless and she’s already told you that on the phone since she has no idea what she’s looking for. They have zero idea what or where the model kit aisle model kit is or what they have in stock. They all look the same to them.
  2. Thank you for the kind words. David G.... very nice work on your Chevy Proton! Those are mad skillz! Well done!
  3. Some progress made tonight for the bed portion of the build. Looking at various parts within this Nomad kit, I spied something that would be perfect to extend the bed of the Nomad "El Camino". This is actually the back piece to the rear seats. This is lightly glued in place to test fit. Yeah.... that's gonna work just fine. But.... I need something that's gonna give me support to hold it place. So... I sawed off a front section of the "folded rear seat option part and sanded a curve with my Dremel to conform with the tranny hump. Here are the results of the "chop job". :giggles: The folded seat optional part sawed off... The test fit and glued on with satisfaction... Top portion glued in place. Oh yeah... that's definitely gonna work. :lashed: The test fit of what it looks like with the Nomad body on....
  4. Surgery about a week or so ago is a success!! Test fitting my idea what I'm trying to achieve. With a little bit of work to attach it, I think it's gonna work out just fine. There will be some body shaping on the attachment to make it work. This will be a long term project because I'm not planning on rushing through this one. I still have a lot of thinking and plotting on how to make this a solid build. If you have any advice, ideas, & suggestions, by all means I'd like to hear them.
  5. I got this kit on eBay earlier this year and it lacked decals. Plus this kit is an old re-pop of having hinges to open doors on the kit. I remember having one of these kits in my youth years and hated them. Never could get them to open / close straight. Instead of trashing it, I decided to create a Custom Restomod Nomad "El Camino". So here are a couple pics of how I'm planning to turn this into an El Camino. You can see the lines I'm looking to cut.... The rear portion roof line marked will be used to merge somehow to the dotted line up front. The rear front seat door post will remain to hold in place. I haven't figure out the bed portion yet. My thinking is repurpose the rear interior section and sand smooth, floor included. All doors will be glued shut. The other challenge is the back portion to create the cab and cut the rear window to size.
  6. His "copyright?" Since when? Did he get exclusive license that no one can replicate his car design? Probably not. If anything, the guy should have been honored, not flip off on some 3 year old throwing a tantrum. Over-react much?
  7. Since he's no longer posting, responding or acknowledging this thread, might as well lock this one down. After all, he did take his ball and gone home. ?
  8. Yup. Same here. Not everyone think of leaving the upright at work/home. It’s a matter of habit 99% drivers leave them down. As far as heated wiper blades.... only available for semis, buses, plow trucks, municipalities, farm implements. None for cars. Basically an add-onset up. https://www.everblades.com/about-wipers/
  9. Streaker Vette!?! I’ve been waiting to get another one for years
  10. Hell yeah!!!!
  11. Absolutely true. I think the OP took it the wrong way and doesn't want to hear the reality that most of us do this hobby... well that's just it - a hobby to relax and enjoy to pass the time. Nothing satisfies ones soul when you finally finished a kit youve worked on for days. But hey, if he can make a small profit building model kits.... good on him. Is he really breaking even? Not really IMO. But who am I to judge? I know a couple of guys that do commissioned model kits on occasion but not as a career.
  12. Stopped by my local Walmart this past Thursday night and found there are no model kits at all in the Clearance aisle. They got cleaned out pretty quick once they found out they were $7 a pop. No surprise there.
  13. I definitely want the Charger Funny car or two. The Mustang Mach 1 is another good one.
  14. Who knew?! Now only he played guitar, he can sure can pick a banjo. I used to watch Hee Haw with my parents and grandparents back in the day. My grandmother was a big fan of Roy Clark. That would be a nice build if you can find decals for it. What about making your own decals?
  15. Wow... somebody got his underwear in a knot thinking we’re “pissed off” ? Seriously dude, no one was pissed. If you can’t accept everyone’s opinion, so be it. Quit being too sensitive and quick to judge everyone’s opinion. I’ve been building model kits of all genre since I was 5, 6, or 7 years old. That’s over 30 plus years. No way I’ll sell my built model kits. I do it for enjoyment and relaxation. It’s a hobby to me, not a business to make money on my builds.
  16. Not that uncommon to find a Tamiya tank kit in Hobby Lobby. Most times they disappear pretty quick if you're not around to pick one up.
  17. It’ll sooner than before Christmas. I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes out before Thanksgiving.
  18. I’ve got the Tiki Trike in my stash. Still deciding on the overall color. Thinking either some hot pink, turquoise, or some purple shade.
  19. Talk about a Blast from the Past! I, too built that kit when it first came out back in the very early 80s. I’ve been wanting to get another one for another go at it for years. Same thing the Clydesdale Budweiser beer wagon kit. Well done, sir!
  20. You won’t find it the kits on clearance in the Toys department. The clearance aisle was located near automotive and seasonal. The clearance aisle has a variety of stuff on clearance from minor housewares items, masks, to knick knacks and other item excess items.
  21. I agree. I call BS on this one too. Define “affordable” ? Certainly costing them more than a mere $8200 plus to build a replica Superbird. Body parts, LS engines (not cheap by all means), tranny, roll cage, interior components, etc.... The list goes on and on. Don't get me wrong, it is a cool project and all but I’m surprised a reputable auto magazine would actually believe building such a iconic automobile as “affordable”. ?
  22. Cashiers nor store managers at Ollie’s really don’t know exactly what they’re getting until it shows up at their store’s receiving dock. It’s same thing in big box retail stores. Only home office knows what they ordered for their stores.
  23. Really? LEGO is a model kit? Since when? It’s a building toy, not a model kit. Sorry... LEGOs in my eyes don’t fall in the category as plastic model kits. Sure, those are cool to see yet they’re priced much higher than most model car kits on the market.
  24. Nothing in the newest flyer here either. I get text flyer messages from Ollie's weekly.
  25. Check the Clearance aisle at your Walmart stores. All kits are now $7 each!!!! Even the Coca Cola kits!
