  1. Exactly! Folks are getting lazier and lazier to do a simple job done right the first time.
  2. Look in their website and show me where pieces of furniture are running $200. Most are under $20. But yeah.... it adds up buying different pieces of furniture for a single dollhouse. They certainly don’t look like they’re from a yard sale. As far as dollhouses goes, they are a kit too. No different than a car model kit except more expensive. LOL! Had I had a daughter, I’d build one for her. The most expensive one I saw was $549, the cheapest about $90. So... no, I don’t think Hobby Lobby is in the business to cater to car modelers. They cater to everyone in all forms of hobbies from sewing, crotchet, art, quilting, decor, etc...
  3. I don’t see any optical illusions you speak of. Perhaps the banks of the tracks is what got perplexed?
  4. Yeah... I've seen that on eBay not too long ago. It has been decades and decades since I saw that kit. I wasn't a fan of VW kits back then but my sister did do the Baja Beast VW Van kit when we were kids. LOL!
  5. Hmmm... I get my inspiration from a lot of sources. Pinterest (oh yeah... you definitely need to look in there), magazines, Jackson-Barrett / Mecum Auctions on TV, internet....
  6. All the more the reason why I will not buy or own an electric automobile. Now imagine if it was your own electric car’s lithium battery starts to burn unbeknownst to you while you and your family sleep, inside your garage. Imagine the devastation it can cause. But hey.... never say never but it could happen though.
  7. That’s true when there’s no real LHS in their area. Heck.... LHS are few and far in between and scarce nowadays. As far as purchasing items online especially models and supplies - we don’t always have a choice but it is what it is. eBay is the same thing as online purchase when you think about it.
  8. Junk that filled the other 99% of the store? ROFLMAO! You do realize Hobby Lobby is an Arts & Craft store not a LHS, right? ???
  9. I don’t see the point in that. Nobody is gonna see it when you bring a sealed box to UPS or FedEx to ship it out.
  10. Good luck with that; especially today. Look around you at every store you go to. Even private sector businesses are looking for help. Nobody wants to work anymore. Hence the reason unemployment rate is so high. They’d rather sit home and do nothing because they’re making more on unemployment checks than when they were working. Stupidity at its finest with these young folks today. Just wait til they reach retirement age. They’re gonna find their monthly pension and social security checks are gonna be pretty dismal. Even if they do get back to work after 2, 3, 4, or more years after being on unemployment, they’re not gonna be able to retire at 62 or 65 as they hope to. They’ll have to keep working til they’re 70 or 75. The trouble is young folks today aren’t worrying about retirement or planning for retirement. Their mentality is “I’ve got plenty of time to worry about retiring”
  11. I disagree. Better hobby online stores (Scalehobbyist, Hobbylinc, etc...) get new kits first on a weekly basis. Hobby Lobby aren’t even at that level with the big boys. That’s why they always get the same old, same old Revell/AMT/MPC/Bandai stock restocked on their shelves. Keep in mind.... Hobby Lobby is an Arts and Craft store, not a hobby shop. Hobby Lobby very rarely get new / different kits. It’s always the same old kits every time. Michael’s is the same way.
  12. I’ve got a few kits from my youth/teen years I’ve been wanting another shot in building again - auto and aircrafts. When I do start on them, I won’t rush on it like I did in my younger years. This time around, I’ll enjoy the build and take my time.
  13. Yeah they are. I was lucky to have the California Vette in a bundle purchase from another forum member at SPAM. Now the same kit are selling for stupid money - $150 and up. I did the Tijuana Taxi as a kid and loved it. Then again, I’ve done a lot of Tom Daniels Design kits back then. So many I’d love to have another crack at some of Tom Daniels kits now.... Cherry Bomb Vandal/Vanbulance Tijuana Taxi Rommels Rod - I think you can still buy their re-issued kits Bad Medicine Red Baron Trantula And so many countless others. There were quite a few I have never done too. Fun times back then.
  14. Not really. Just saw at least 5 Badman kits on eBay up for auction. Auctions and ridiculous bidding is what’s driving insane, stupid money in the hundreds. Sellers are getting greedy. There is one offered for sale for $44.97 with free shipping https://www.ebay.com/itm/304366200543?hash=item46dda3a6df:g:DFQAAOSwnAJiEujR
  15. Folks will bid stupid money to get it. All the reasons I don’t like eBay auctions. Too many robobidders. I prefer the Buy It Now feature. It never hurt to contact the seller for a counter-offer.
  16. Theft? Not really. My guess the seller is reusing/recycling boxes he has in his disposal. I’ve reused USPS boxes in the past and never had an issue shipping thru UPS or FedEx as long as you black out the USPS banner on the boxes with a marker. What’s the difference what box you use?
  17. Or order them from Scalehobbyist, and other online hobby stores. I wouldn’t trust ordering anything from Hobby Lobby.
  18. Easy...I was in my early 20s dating a girl (who I’m married to now) sitting at a stop sign. Looked left and turned left. Unbeknownst to me, I had pulled out in front a town police. He immediately pulled me over. Well BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH! Neither of us had seatbelts on too. Anyhow, the cop gave me a ticket for seatbelts. I guess it’s better than a moving violation. When my mom found out after I told my dad, she flipped. I thought.... what is she so worked up about? She don’t drive either! LOL! The car I was driving when I got my first traffic ticket was a ‘78 Chevy Monte Carlo. Never received another traffic ticket since.
  19. Great tips! I use Model Master Turn Signal Amber. I know they have it in the little square Testors bottles too.
  20. Well..... you can’t fix stupid. Young kids nowadays don’t know diddly squat on car care. Thankfully my 18 year old son wants to know simple everyday car care - oil changes, check radiator/fluids, change tire, even as far as a desire to learn how to change brake pads on his car, etc....
  21. Typical cheap USPS cardboard box. They’re never were that great. Were there any packing materials inside? Foam, bubble wrap, packing peanuts?
  22. Easy....1965 - 1967 Chevy Station Wagon with woodie style panels dressed as a muscle car. LOL!
  23. Well that’s pretty stocked but alas.... it’s a typical stock for Hobby Lobby. Never anything new but the same old, same old.
