Roads were quiet - very little traffic, stores quiet, weather is great in the mid 80s. Went to cemetery to place flag on my dad's grave since the Legion didn't plant one. Came to find out why.... Darn flag holder was hidden in tall grass. Cemetery hasn't been mowed yet. Hopefully by next weekend when I can plant flowers on my parents' grave. I'll bring my weedwacker just in case. LOL!! My son made Memorial Day dinner of turkey burgers and chicken burgers on the grill. I cooked salt potatoes and broccoli and the missus cleaned up. We're heading out for ice cream later tonight. Ordered a replacement canopy for my outdoor swing and should be in by the end of the week. Oh yeah... I'm also off from work tomorrow and have plans to head out to Syracuse area to a LHS to pick up some supplies. ? Too bad the missus and son have to work tomorrow. ROFL!!!

I don’t know. It depends on the rarity of the kit that’s never reissued. ie: I loved to get the MPC Dodge 4x4 camper with motorcycle- you know the white Dodge truck camper kit. I rarely find it for sale anywhere, even on eBay. When I built it back in the 70s, I loved it. Oh, it doesn’t stop there. There are a lot from my youth and early teen years I’d love to acquire again. I was fortunate to find a few from a member in another forum I belong to. Some I’ve done as a kid, some I wished I had gotten then now have them. Remember those vintage Aurora dinosaur kits or those monster kits? How about those super hero kits. Let’s not forget those Tom Daniels Design kits or the vintage Monogram armor and aircraft kits. Sure some are out as reissues - Patton tank, P-61 Black Widow, USS Arizona, New Jersey, Missouri, etc... The problem with those reissued Monogram kits, the molds are so old, the amount of excessive flash are found in them. The Black Widow Kit is one good example. Horrible fit issues, figures looked like they’re so skinny, they don’t even look like a human figure. Even rarer are the vintage motocross and custom bike of the 70s are very hard to find. Try finding the old Evil Iron trike Kit. If you do find it, they’re going for stupid money. I can’t blame the seller for his prices but they are so hard to find. As one poster mentioned- maybe to a collector, maybe not to the builder.

My son watched Good Fellas last night on DVD. I’ve been meaning to watch it again. My suspicion thinks he may have had a heart attack or massive stroke.

Ok... here’s my take on these electric vehicle fads. First, I have zero interest in electric vehicles. I see too many problems with these EV automobiles. 1 - They are too expensive to own. I mean come on, who can afford to spend $50k plus for them? 2 - It takes an average of 4 hours to fully charge them. What if you have an emergency that you need to go somewhere and your EV has not enough charge to use? You’re screwed. 3 - There’s no way anyone can afford to have home charging stations in their homes. houses are averaging 100 x 150 amps. Imagine what your m9nthly electric bill would be. 4 - Battery replacements will cost you more than what the car is worth. Heck, South Africa are currently having issues dealing with copper thieves and Russia has lithium mines. 5 - Winter. They’re useless in cold climate. You’re more likely to have hard starts or no starts at all once temps hits below zero. Not everyone has a two car garage in a multi-family household. While I’m not steering this into a political issue but these New Green Plan zealots don’t think logically on the other side of of the spectrum - the negative issues. They are the ones trying to change the way to live and use alternative energy and ban gas powered vehicles. They’re too concerned with pollution and carbon footprint on the ground and air. Heck... I’d be afraid of flying in an electric aircraft. Imagine an EV aircraft losing battery power over the middle of an ocean? While I’m all for alternative energy like solar power and wind power, but there are protests in communities across the US against seeing solar fields and windmills constructed in their backyards. Windmills kill numerous bird species and can drive certain species into extinction. Don’t believe me? Google it. I do know there are signs all over my community saying “No to Solar Power Fields”. i’d rather have solar panels installed on my roof than a solar field nearby. in a nutshell, don’t ram the EV down our throats because everyone, including those green environmentalist nutty zealotsthinks they’re a great idea. They cost too much and nobody can afford them nor the upkeep. I’d rather have internal combustion engines than an EV. They’re cheaper, affordable and easier to maintain.

I hate them too. One day a few weeks ago, some punk kid in a Civic rolled up on my rear while I was on the passing lane. I braked and he backed off kinda quick - but not for long. Now, I'm already speeding up to pass another vehicle on my right and I see the idiot jumping into the driving lane and now he's on her tail - the car I'm trying to pass. LOL!! She looks in her rear and sees him. Needless to say, she's aggravated. She looks at me and shook her head and points behind her. I smiled at slowed to stay perpendicular to her side - we basically boxed him in with zero chance of passing either of us. Now the idiot has no where to go. I can see him getting dismayed and impatient. ROFL! We went on for about a mile and a half and thinking that's enough. As soon as I was able to return to the driving lane, I moved over since I needed to get off the next exit not even an 1/8th of a mile. He blows pass me, flips me the finger. LOLOLOL!! As I was getting off the exit, he. too, wanted to get off and does so crossing over from the passing lane. Now he's stuck behind a pick-up. LOL!! I catch up to him a safe distance behind him as we approached the acceleration lane in a construction work zone. He speeds up and passes the truck IN A CONSTRUCTION WORK ZONE!!! Where's a cop car when ya need one? He got off the very next exit as I was too. He's sitting at a light for the right turn, I'm going left. I cnever understood why he was in such a hurry to go .... NO WHERE!!!

What did you see on the road today?
BlackSheep214 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No pics because I didn’t expect to see this many any classic on the way up to and fro Carthage for doctor appointment today. 1969 Buick Wildcat ragtop outside Boonville Three classic station wagons - 50 something Buick station wagon 50 something Ford wagon ‘55 Chevy Nomad 1965 Dodge Coronet in somebody’s driveway - Liberty St. in Carthage Either a ‘68 or ‘69 GTX or if it’s a ‘69 Dodge Super Bee sitting amongst tall weeds by roadside just outside Port Leyden. Couldn’t tell for I caught a glimpse at the last minute passing by it. Two vintage trucks for sale - 1966 Ford F-100 and the other I forget possibly a early 70s pick up truck. The ‘66 is immaculate. I may take a ride up there this weekend to check it out. Located in Barneveld. And finally going the opposite direction, a gorgeous yellow ‘67 Chevelle SS muscle car heading north just outside Lowville. -

Who doesn’t love a ‘59 Impala. Rare indeed. Consider yourself lucky to find one in the Land down Under. Did you get more pics of them ‘59? -

B-52 BUFF
BlackSheep214 replied to Kit Basher's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
I built the old 1/72 scale Monogram B-52 as a kid so yeah... she’s a big girl. As for 1/48 scale bombers to display them. Hang them from the ceiling. LOL! -
Need a car recommendation
BlackSheep214 replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Depends on what you can afford. So many good choices yet it’s something you’ll have to live with. Any rough terrain will be hard on any suspension system no matter what vehicle you choose. There’s no such thing as a bulletproof vehicle.... except a tank or military vehicle. LOL! -
Yup. I found out the hard way when I first bought this kit way back in the late 70s early 80s. It fought me all the way when I didn’t care about building it seriously as a kid. I have a plan to fix the doors on this one just as I’ve done to the ‘57 Ford Fairlane kit - glue them shut. Aside to the hood, the trunk I’ll keep to open and close.

I have Spectrum cable and internet provider. My bill is over $200 / month and I don’t even have HBO, Showtime or Starz included. They screwed us over by taking those away to cut cost. I call BS on those greedy SOBs. They don’t want to help give you a good deal for the money.

Funny... I checked my local Hobby Lobby and their stock aren't on clearance nor any model kits. I wonder if it's a regional thing.
