  1. I like this build. I've been in the planning stages to build one of these Malibu's for some time. I was thinking of using a Monte Carlo hood as a basis for the non-cowl induction hood. Have you considered?
  2. They look like parts from electronic equipment. Do you have any old VCRs or DVD players? Probably find a few in there. Or try electronic supply stores.
  3. Yeah, and it used to be FUN trying to bid - hoping for a great deal on something! Now, prices are stupid high and quality doesn't match the price. And if the price is low, Guaranteed the shipping will kill you! Ebay just leaves me uninspired anymore.
  4. I've got a few of these Mercs. Not bad kits. Bodies look pretty accurate. Hood easily trims out. Has definite detailing possibilities. I started one years ago to shorten it to make an SLC.
  5. Makes me think - How cool would this be as a dune buggy version? Any takers?
  6. Your Ford/Willys combination is a natural. Looks factory. Great job!
  7. You're gonna have to raise the price. $800 bucks is a steal for this generation of Trans Am. T/A parts alone are worth more than that!
  8. I like the way the air cleaner emphasizes the belly of the gremlin. Very nice build.
  9. That just looks scary fast. The only car I know that the driver can race, crash and be buried in!!!! ? Alright, morbid - I know.
  10. Looks cool! A creative build on an otherwise useless model. Very well done!
  11. Great job! But what happened to the rest of the castaways? I hope they're still not out in the water! ?
  12. Actually the car in the movie was a 73-74. Take a lot of work to convert it to the movie car. But that chase scene is epic! Well worth the effort to make the car. BTW, Jimmy Flintstone sells a resin copy of the 72 for a fair price - so what are you waiting for?
  13. I've done a few 16th scale cars. Liked MPCs 78 Corvette and 79 & 82 Trans Ams. Revells 83 Firebird and Z28 came out really nice. But AMTs 64.5 Mustang was the WORST! Barely any detail with opening doors that didn't open to show anything worthwhile. Turned me off from anything else they had in that scale. Kits in 1/12. My favorite was the Revell/exRenwall 65 Mustang GT. There are a lot of great kits in this size. 1/8th has even more winners, especially Monograms Corvettes, T/As, Jaguar and Big Rods. And if your wallet can handle them - look for the old Pochers. Those might be a little difficult with shaky hands, but if you're able and have the tenacity to finish one, what a prize to have on your shelf!
  14. Please paste the pictures here so readers will be able to compare the parts in the future - after this ad is gone.
  15. Actually, the SS nose piece is separate from the body. Recreating the stock header for the early and later versions along with the bumper would be pretty easy to produce and would give us more choices than the limited edition Choo Choo Customs version. Replacing the E.C. script would be a bonus! The rest of the kit is stock as it is.
  16. That would've been my guess, as there are even less of those around than the Mac. And it's a pure piece of history!
  17. It's a good looking car, but price is low due to "supply and demand". There just aren't that many diehard collectors lusting after cars like this anymore. That generation has mostly gone away. Younger buyers were chasing the 50s graffiti era cars back in the 70s and 80s. Now the next gen buyers are paying big money for muscle cars, but even that will die out as they get old and pass on. I guess the teens of today are going to be hoarding 90s and millennium imports when they older. Time marches on for all of us.
  18. True. Please don't take my comments as as a criticism of your work, continue building as you desire. I think you've made great improvements to the kit already! If I had one, I'd be all on board to improving it too.
  19. MPC and Mono/Revell Chevy stepsides have the correct fenders, although, scale might be an issue. I never tried matching them up with this kit before. However, this kit was never known for complete accuracy anyway, so the fenders might be a moot point.
  20. Nice cars and great display. Welcome aboard!
  21. Makes the car look like it's wearing a helmet!
  22. Wow, those wheels and tires look great that way!! I've got a bunch of sets of each of these. Never wanted to do anything with them.... Until now!
  23. "Oh, so it's a profit deal!" - Steve Martin. "The Jerk" 1980
  24. That's just sooo wrong, but absolutely creative and executed very well! Looks like something Jesse James and Monster Garage would have done - but they wouldn't have done such neat work with it. Great job, let's see some more wild stuff like this!!
  25. Custom grille. Back when square headlights were a new thing, guys would take assemblies and swap out the round lights. Happened a lot on custom vans, pickups and lowriders!
