  1. You could save some cutting off grief by soldering a flat piece of stock to the round rod and then desoldering it loose after machining. Even the thin flange could be machined in the part as one piece.
  2. Got a Danbury 1925 Model T touring car. Looks like it was never removed from the box. Like to get a couple more, but rarely for sale. This is the only one I've seen.
  3. Not set up to conveniently take pictures right now. The FM Chevy Confederate roadster is right up there in details and quality. I have three of them, two yellow and one blue. Hood vent doors open. Wire wheels match the DM LE real wire ones on the 1932 Ford roadster.
  4. There are model builders that build Big Rig trucks, but I've noticed there are a number of truckers building them and it's these guys that truly understand the importance of a Truck Stop. They also take accurate detailing very seriously. Think about the real truck world. Primary ingredients are a Trucker, a Rig, a road, a load and the Truck Stop. They love their trucks and with good reason. I love them because much of my business was involved with lighting and mirrors for them. Whenever I travelled cross country in my Hot Rod coupe it's the truckers that were the most courteous drivers on the road and their Truck Stops the best places to get gas and a damned good meal 24 hours a day. Quite interesting shopping in their trucker orientated store. Once upon a time there was The Truck Stop on this forum. Bad idea to eliminate it.
  5. When I get one of the DM models I have to play with it. Sometimes it's to find what is missing or damaged, but mostly to discover what has been detailed and to what degree. Well, I got a 1931 model A Woody a few weeks ago and found it exceptional. Then spotted another, but without the side curtains installed. Delivered today and in playing with it found some broken parts and a missing radiator cap. Then I found some very interesting details. The seat cushions are open on the bottom revealing real springs. The wood panels are actually wood. The rear doors have check straps and the doors have piano hinges. The windshield can be tilted open. Both rear wheels are broken free of their hubs giving me the opportunity to see how they were made, real wire spokes, and maybe how I can make them. The 1931 Model A Roadster is commonly offered on ebay relatively cheap and I suspect it's because of the rather bulky looking molded yellow plastic spoked wheels. I plan to replace them with real wire versions eventually. There was a gold plated LE version that had the real wire ones, but I didn't like the gold or the price.
  6. Good find. Has the very small heat shrink I had been looking for. Easy to browse for sure.
  7. My wife isn't a problem at all. I am the problem. Totally disorganized with a wide variety of stuff.
  8. This seems a logical separation for diecast models. Other than the metal vs plastic distinction what is really different is the fact they are factory manufactured finished models. I'm especially fond of the "Mint" models and my wife likes them. I don't keep them in their boxes like a collector might, but keep the boxes. Had to educate my wife to recognize the boxes that under no circumstances go to the recycle bin. She does not appreciate my plastic model stash or my 3D printed parts scattered throughout the house.
  9. Charlie, you're hitting a bunch of my hot buttons with that 3 window, but even more so with your building style. Most curious about your background and the machining tools you have in your shop.
  10. Found a recipe via Google since you didn't divulge. https://divascancook.com/no-bake-chocolate-chip-cookie-dough-truffles-recipe-eggless/
  11. From where?? Some secret sauce place?? Really enjoyed following this build step by step.
  12. I'm retired with no local family members and not very social. Only a couple very minor inconveniences. Market crash affected stock portfolio, but I know not to panic and did some bargain buying. Went on a diecast buying binge to keep my spirits up.
  13. That is an accurate representation of a hot rod almost any industrious teenage gearhead could build on a gas station part time job budget in the late forties to early fifties. Glory years for the Ford Flathead V8. And they were quick. Pure fun to drive.? I often wonder how many were built back then. No John, a funny car is Not a Hot Rod.
  14. 3D printing is a very viable solution. Can you sketch a profile with a couple desired dimensions? Or a photo of the part you're wanting to replicate.
  15. Figures are nicely detailed except for the glossy finish. Enjoying studying the details and imagining the stories they might be telling.
  16. Not so. I just now edited to clarify what I really said.?
  17. Internet security people often advise avoiding "subscribe" links. It's a poor way to get to the Host site. Just needs to have (/forum) deleted from the existing lnk at the top of the forum page.
  18. Once I found this forum I created a one click favorites link directly to it and totally forgot about it's host website. Hadn't been to Model Cars Magazine for over a year and a half. Lot of stuff there, including various forms of ads it seems. Mentioning this because, as far as I can tell, once I use my direct favorites link to get here, there is no obvious link on the forum page to the host site, which is more interesting than I realized. Seems to me a dedicated ad promoting and linked to the host site could suffice and allow the forum to exist free of banner ads. The Model Cars Magazine link at the top of this page is currently a link to the forum page, NOT a link to the magazine.
  19. I wouldn't want to snipe them from a guy who really needs them or run up the bid.
  20. Went to buy a Fujimi set and got "out of stock" at a couple places, but found them on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/p/1600469808 Is the price for real???
  21. Should you find a need you might try laying in a cheap black synthetic wig hair using mousse or moustache wax for stickum. Not tried myself, but worthy of an experiment IMHO. Vent windows more likely to benefit, if it works like I envision.
