Revell 1966 Chevy Fleetside
NOBLNG replied to Mike 1017's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It is the same as the ‘65 Stepside. Check my build thread. https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/132080-65-chevy-stepside/ Here is a pic of the ‘66 that 426 pack posted on my thread. -
Game has lasted a lot longer than I anticipated.

Nice work on the engine Jim! I usually bend exhaust pipes cold or pass them quickly over a candle to heat them. It would be nice to have a mini heat gun that was tapered down to like a concentrated 1/4” outlet so you didn’t have to roast your fingers at the same time.

It’s amazing what younger people wear to go out these days. Our parents would never have let us out of the house without washing behind our ears and putting on clean underwear. I’ve seen people in stores wearing pyjamas and fuzzy bedroom slippers…in the middle of winter yet.🙄

Bugs Bunny was one of my favourite tv shows as a kid and I especially liked Foghorn Leghorn.

In my experience, a 90 degree joint can be made more accurately by joining two square ends at….90 degrees than joining two 45’s, which is why I eliminated those slots. 22-1/2 degree slots would be more useful I think. If you want a 45 degree bend though, you could butt one square end onto one 45 and trim the excess length off the 45.

The interior and dash look fabulous Steve! Where do you get the tiny little keys, keychain and water bottle from?🙂

So the cable guy came today. He unplugged the ethernet cable and it works fine now.🤬 Apparently the ethernet cable can only be used with a non-wireless modem. You would think that one of the 3 or 4 techs I talked to yesterday would have clued in on that? The very first guy I spoke to that told me I needed a new pvr said he prefers to use the cable rather than use it wirelessly….so I hooked it back up the same way the old one was. The second person I talked to after the new box didn’t work had me switching cables from another pvr to make sure that the cable was not faulty. Bell called me earlier this morning with an automated survey about my service experience. Needless to say they did not get a good review!😡

I got this idea due to the mitre box discussion in the “cutting styrene” thread. This box has a very wide slot, so I added some pieces of 1/16” aluminum. I put a layer of masking tape (.003” thick) on the blade for clearance and epoxied them in place. The slot is snug enough now to actually hold the saw up off the bottom, yet the saw still slides freely. I know Les (stitchdup) has done a similar modification using plastic. I don’t ever use the 45 degree slots so I deleted them.🙂 I plan to fill the first slot on the bed with styrene or aluminum yet to get more stability for rectangle stock. There, the slot is filled

Spray Booth Exhaust Venting

Use metal pipe instead of flexible ducting and you will have far less restriction. -
I’ve been sitting here with the tv showing a blue screen for a couple hours, and after another 1/2+ hour on hold with tech, I was elevated to “level two” tech and spoke to the same woman that I spoke to this afternoon just before everything stopped working. She said there was no one scheduled to come out tonight and she shows everything as working. So I turn around and look… and the tv is booting up. She wouldn’t admit that she did anything wrong this afternoon, but I suspect she messed up the reset somehow? Everything works now except the replacement PVR, so they are supposedly sending out a serviceman tomorrow.🥴

Bell/MTS!🤬 I have 3 pvr boxes and one of them recently quit working. It’s happened before and like last time I was told I need to get a newer box. No biggie…I went and swapped it out at a fairly close by B/MTS store. Well it would’nt work. Spent well over an hour on the phone with tech support switching cables and unplugging/plugging things in. They eventually agreed to (after 3 requests) to send a tech out tomorrow. Well shortly after I hung up I realized that nothing works anymore.🤯 None of my three pvrs, not my internet, not my security cams, or my wifi. I called back and they said they could have someone here by 8pm today. Well it’s 7:15 and I’m not optimistic.😡

I’ve found notes I left to myself that I have no idea what I meant.😳

Won’t ammonia harm some types of clear finishes? I’ve never used it, but assumed it was fairly powerful stuff?

1941 Willy's Pickup

I think those headlight bezels could be foiled after they are installed Bob. Just a thought. -
Very interesting! I’ll follow along.😎

With the Permatex 5 minute epoxy that I use, I would expect that I could wait no longer than 3 minutes +/- before it would be too “set” for any part to be added. If I was to use this method, I would mix up a test batch, spread a thin line out and try every 15 or 30 seconds (assuming 5min epoxy) to stick a piece of sprue to it. Record the results so you know what wait time is optimal. I’m pretty sure Steve must have done this?

Keyboards are a great tool for exercising your dexterity…unless like me you type using only one finger.

Looking for replacement blades
NOBLNG replied to dragstk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The OP is looking for new blades, not handles, I assume the blade he has is worn out. I suggest he contact Tamia to see if the 74160 blades will fit his existing handle. If not then…yeah he needs a new handle or a different brand of scriber. -
The suggestion for epoxy or watch crystal cement sound good for a painted surface. I try to pin tiny parts before painting….if I remember to. You could practice all these techniques by attaching bits of sprue to a scrap body or something to see which works best for you.
