  1. Beautiful job...especially under the hood!?
  2. Nice job! I love that colour.?
  3. Yes, I’m glad this build re-surfaced. It is absolutely outstanding in design and execution!?
  4. Maybe a thread like this should be a sticky? There are numerous threads on here about various tools. It would be nice to have them all in one place?
  5. Upholstery! I am trying to replicate the seat in my Willys, which is actually the rear seat from a 1980 Blazer. I narrowed the seat from a ‘56 Ford pickup. Then I added some piping (not quite correct, but pretty much out of sight). Then I found a picture of similar colour houndstooth pattern on the internet, re-sized and printed it. The last pic is some self adhesive label paper that doesn’t stick well enough. I’ve re-printed it on normal paper and am experimenting with different glues to fasten it securely. Then I will give the whole thing a coat of satin clear.
  6. On my way home from getting my first Covid shot, I decided to stop at a hobby shop in that neighborhood. To my dismay, I found out that the owner passed recently from cancer. Unfortunately the business is closing so I grabbed a few items
  7. If anyone has any nifty tools, especially ones that are not normally associated with model building...post them up! I don’t know where I got this? I found it one day in the garage with a bunch of drill bits. It has three collets that will take anything from a #80 up to 1/16”. I use it by hand, in my cordless drill and in my drill press. It runs very true.?
  8. Here is a sample of the effect of four different colour primers. The paint is Tamiya LP-46 Pure Metallic Red in the little bottles airbrushed. All were sprayed with equal coats...I don’t recall how many, likely two. This is Tamiya TS-60 pearl green aerosol that I decanted and airbrushed. It covered the red oxide primer in pretty much one coat. The only way to know for sure is to experiment.
  9. Good luck Rick. You may be better off ordering some. I know Scenes Unlimited makes some nice ones. And remember, on a 4x4.....bigger is better!?
  10. The two sheets on the right arrived yesterday from Slater’s Plastikard. The two on the left I got last year but are too large of scale. I think I originally mis read how they scaled them 1:25 is not the same as 1/25 ? These are 8”x12” sheets and I ordered a few of each to be safe.?
  11. I picked up these two tweezers for $6 in the male grooming section at Marshalls. I have two pairs that I use constantly...one doesn’t open very wide and the other is “magnetic” and frustrates me all the time. Hopefully these will be a treat.?
  12. Looking good there Bob.?
  13. Harbor freight and Princess Auto are hit and miss at the very best. For 3 bucks you might get a few useful bits...but if you zoom in on the picture in your link you can see how well sharpened the smaller ones on the right are.?
  14. These aren’t specifically what you’re looking for but this is what I have for 4x4 tires.: From the Godzilla Jeep kit, 5of these; .625idx1.09od From the Revell GMC plow truck and the Jeep Honcho kit(same tires) 4 of; .70idx1.2od. From the Revell early bronco, 4 of; .57idx1.125od. From the AMT crew chief blazer, 4 of; .61idx1.21od. From the Revell Jeep Rubicon, 4 of; .625idx1.39od. And from the MPC Commando, 4 of; .77idx1.56od.
  15. Looking good so far, ? A nice gloss on there should really make it pop.
  16. I bought a set of these recently at my local hobby shop. They are the best ones I have found so far. Vallejo T101002 Drill Set-wire gauge – sizes in U.S. inches Including sliding top index storage dispenser. Twenty high-speed steel drill bits with a handy slide-top box that releases only chosen drill bit. Drill numbers: 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 78,79, 80.
  17. I didn’t think it was possible to be less aerodynamic than a brick....but I guess I was wrong.?
  18. I agree. I love these trucks but I have yet to see one that has been turned into an extended cab that looks good. All the Mack parts just don’t blend well at all.
  19. I don’t think any sprue cutter is going to stand up to any sort of steel wire. Soft aluminum, copper and brass maybe. That’s probably the best idea is to buy a chap set for hacking and a better set for precision work.?
  20. I just use these cheapies. It’s my second pair since I wrecked the first ones by cutting wire.? I have often thought of buying a better pair but can’t bring myself to spend the coin. I just cut as close to the part as possible and trim any remainder with a hobby knife.
  21. I decanted some paint this morning by spraying it through a large straw. A bit spattered on the rim of the paint bottle so I picked it up with a paper towel to wipe it off and....fumble!? Wound up dumping a bunch all over my hand.
  22. Nice work on the foil. The colour looks good on it too.?
  23. How do you Guys keep your superglue bottles from clogging up? I do try to burp it a bit after use so that it will suck a bit of air back down the nozzle which usually results in glue running down the outside of the nozzle. Lately I have been removing the entire cap and dipping my applicator in, instead of putting a bit in a bottle cap to use. That resulted in me knocking over the bottle once when I picked up the applicator that had glued itself down to the paper towel I had laid it on. ? The tip of this bottle actually twisted off and is glued inside the cap.
  24. That turned out great! It looks like those two kits were meant to go together.?
