That's really nicely done, you've given it so much character. Some of my kits would benefit from being shown like that, but I simply don't have the skills to make it look convincing like you've done here. I went to East Berlin in 1988, just a year before the wall came down. I'd never seen these funny little cars before, certainly saw plenty of them that day!

So much brown! Looks great, always good to have fun and experiment and it's certainly worked here.
-
That's very nice! The colour choice, lowering, spats etc make it look so long and elegant.

Nice one. Is this the old Tamiya kit or recent Hasegawa version?

A couple of recent eBay purchases: Really pleased to get one of these, the level of detail is fantastic. Lots of separate and remarkably delicate mouldings and I can see how they could spin-off different versions in the future. They could use the Skyline GT-R's engine to create a Z432R, but in the meantime it's great to have a nicely rendered version of the classic L24 straight-six (there's a 1:1 version of that in the bonnet of the car it's sitting on here). The G-nose isn't my favourite style, I think fatter wheels would justify the arches and balance out the looks. Haven't yet compared it to the Hasegawa kits I have, which until now were probably the best Z kit available at 1:24, but it was amusing to hold it up against the old Monogram 280Z. That being said, I'm still fond of the latter and it's fine for a quick, fun Z build. This Tamiya kit will be a more thorough undertaking...... Also couldn't resist this one. Seems like an unusual subject for them to have done, but I presume it's well-regarded at home and it's always good to have something obscure on the stash (and hopefully on the display shelf, one day). Another candidate for a wheel swap however!

That was me! A slightly cartoonish version of a Maserati, but I like how it turned out.

Very nicely done, I like it in that colour as well. I have one in the stash, have thought about rodding it somehow.....

A really nice job you've done there, and great photos too!

Great to see a stock example, looks really good! I have the slightly later (c. 1990?) reissue which I built as a custom, took over 25 years from start to finish. For a kit that dates back to the '60s some elements of it were impressive and overall I thought it went together pretty well. I failed in getting the doors to fully open (my lack of patience/skill there I think) and I found the glass fit was marginal. Still got the engine looking for a new home.....

1978 Ford Courier
Spottedlaurel replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great finished result and I like the backstory. Good to see one of these Couriers built. I vaguely started one last year, to be fitted with a '90s (ish) Thunderbird V6 engine because of a backstory. I mocked it up but remember the bed sitting a bit high, never got beyond that point! -
Good to see, a clean build of an unusual subject. Nice work!

Love it, great photos too. Imagine the look and sound of it at 1:1 driving around NYC!

That's brilliant. The finished result looks so smooth, and the driver certainly adds some character to it!

Great to see this one finished Steve! Looks really good, and that interior is something else.

Very sharp build, nicely done. You have nowhere to hide with the black paint! I built the more basic Fujimi version earlier in the year, still got the Tamiya to do someday. Looks like it justifies a bit of attention to detail.

Great to see another one built, despite you saying it was a just a quick build it still looks really good. Certainly eye-opening to see where Hyundai have got to since the Pony!

Nice work Roger, interesting concept very nicely executed. Always good to try out some different ideas and have a bit of fun.

Fantastic work Chang! I'd really like to get hold of one of these kits. Someone I knew had a 1:1 example back in the late '00s, very rare even then. It's still around now I believe, but seems to be out of use on a driveway and not looking as good as above.

An interesting looking place there Pierre, and well done for moving everything OK. My built models are still in storage at the office, but after we moved into the new place last month and I started to build shelves and get the garage tidied up I brought most of the unbuilt kits home at the weekend: Just got the last 30-40 to go. At the moment it's still something of a WIP in here - I painted the blockwork side walls white but the rest of the floor needs to be painted, three more shelves built (plus a load more extending up into the loft) and a big sort-out and tidy-up to be undertaken. Also, these aren't the shelves they'll sit on, but I needed to bring the kits back and they'll be safe there for the moment. The timber shelves above are primarily for my magazine/brochure collection, there'll also be a load of ex-shop shelf units where all that stuff is in the middle of the floor. No room for another 1:1 car in there - I had to sell four to make this move work! At least I can keep my favourite Datsun undercover. Not yet sure how or where built stuff will be displayed. I'm hoping to get a cabinet up on the wall of my half of the study/studio/hobby room inside the house, perhaps including some storage space for WIPs, tools and materials and maybe one or two prized unbuilt kits.

Been a while since I've had anything to contribute in this section, but now our house move is out of the way I can get back to normal: Lexus looks like a nice model. 300ZX is a duplicate but was cheap, especially considering it's got a separate engine/gearbox assembly that could easily go into something else (like Tamiya's previous-gen 300ZX, or an Aoshima Nissan Cedric/Gloria which come with a top half engine only).

Hello Michael! Good to see you here. Great work on this kit, not one I'd have the patience for.

I've had a busy summer and have got out of touch with WIPs here, but it's great to be reminded of this one and see how it's progressing - looks fantastic Steve!

The 21' Cannonball Ruse build thread
Spottedlaurel replied to disconovaman's topic in Community Builds
Great to see some more making it across the line, they look great, and also to see others making good progress. My house move (not something I knew I'd be doing at the beginning of the year) has rather delayed progress on current kit builds. However, I brought the WIPs and tools home the other day and as I've done the body paintwork on my entry I reckon I can get it done by the end of November......... -

Not a challenge I'd be up for, but what about "One piece at a time" Cadillac by Johnny Cash?! I think I'd go for something simple like a shiny Datsun (or Buick!) thanks to Sheryl Crow. I also like the birth year idea. Got one or two things in the stash which would cover me for 1970. -
Fancy curtains! Looks like you have plenty of room. I look foward to getting to that stage. My accomplishment is something of a step backwards, as it looks like our house move should happen at the end of next week and I realised I'm not going to have time to finish anything off. Before: After: That lonely-looking little bundle contains most of my current WIPs. Spent a fair bit of time at that bench (actually an old drawing board), now it's on the skip pile and everything's boxed-up. The built models were packed and moved to my workplace a week or two ago, the unbuilt kits can wait a few more days
