What Did You Accomplish Today? (Model Car Work)
Ulf replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
On wheels, one thing I learned on this forum is to dare to use different types of glues, thanks to all who contribute. The MPC's axles are very weak so there will be a compromise with support. If I build another one, it will definitely be brass wire in the axles. -

How cool is that? I give a big extra plus for the CAR CRAFT sticker. It must have been a wonderful time.

Atlantis releases Ex Revell 1/32 scale 56 Buick.
Ulf replied to John M.'s topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Regardless of the scale, agree that four doors are a winner. The original edition of Revell's Ford Sunliner was a 55a, such a backdating of the the would be something. I am open to building everyone in the series. -

Hi Kurt All your knowledge of is gratefully noted. Ahead of the release, could you not consider writing something a little longer about these pickups ?

Great glass house, glad you're back, I've been keeping my eyes open for updates on your cool project.

Exciting, I really like the position of the front wheels, it gives the car confidence.

Crack magnifier, sometimes better than a caliper. Not cheap as measuring instruments are a real material sport but I really felt I wanted one when I saw one. It is millimeters. It's certainly not motivated by my ability to build model cars but the urge was great and I've actually gotten a lot of use out of it.

Would it be feasible...
Ulf replied to Earl Marischal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hello Alan Fantastic build, nice to know who built it. I just like many others saw the latest episode of Model Car Muse on Saturday morning and saw once again this amazing diorama, a couple of button presses and my iPad had a new background image 🙂 Does anyone know if there is a list of the cars in the diorama, who built these and maybe even something written about the building ? Finally, your roadster is really amazing and that it is so nice after all these years. -
Painting wiring on firewall
Ulf replied to Redisetta's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Assuming you are working with white primer or painting without primer on white plastic, you can try painting the cables black first and wiping off excess paint with a cotton swab or brush dampened in Tamiya Lacquer Thinner before painting with the body color. When the paint has dried, the black shines through and it is enough to paint a little black gently on the cables. I sometimes fill in the door gaps with black or gray or a darker shade before painting the body. try Google ”pre shading”. -

DTR/AMT 1932 Ford Jalopy kits
Ulf replied to Chris V's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Building AMT classic 32s is a stable subculture on forums and Facebook groups, Round2 should see the intangible value in this and reissue these. -

What Did You Accomplish Today? (Model Car Work)
Ulf replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Circumstances have led me to have several projects started but now the conditions are better and the plan is model building day and evening. Many thanks to NOBLNG for the tutorial how to make window cranks and door handles. -

There is actually an ounce of truth deep down in history that justifies a reasonable stash, I remember the 1990's when I could only buy AMT 49 Ford, Mercurys and GMC step side at the local hobby shop, the rest were obscure Revell and Monogram. Today with Round2, Moebius and new kits from Revell the situation is different but the trauma is there deep down.

Great build, I like the stock stearingwheel, heritage and history !

Building the AMT Ford F100
Ulf replied to OldNYJim's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Nice build, After the owen cleaner, Tamiya lacquer thinner take the undercoat away over nigth. I put a chromed part from Round2 directly into Tamiya's lacquer thinner and after 18 hours I just had to brush it lightly with a toothbrush and the chrome flakes flew like light snowflakes. Now I will skip the mess with my decanted oven cleaner as long as the crome part fit in the thinnerjar. I have stripped old Monogram and new Round2 overnight and even a couple of nights without problems but you should probably test with a piece of the sprue to be sure.
