What did you see on the road today?
Zippi replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It was nice. I spent more time looking at it than the wife liked. -
Thanks buddy. Wife and I had a good day at the car show Yesterday so I thought I would get after it this morning.

It was all about the look back in the day. -
Thanks Carl.

Thanks Dave. These are the products I normally use. I'll see how these work out. I'm going to let the paint cure for a full week before I start polishing. I have everything covered with a plastic tub for the time being. I'll probably remove it in 48 hours as it should be fairly dry to the touch. I think it will cure faster with the tub off.

Nice looking van Tony. Love the color. Just wouldn't be right without a little fun in the back.

Thank's for the nice comments fellows and I think your right Ray.

I saw a video of a fellow (Dave G.) airbrushing Testors thinned with lacquer thinner at 50/50 and the outcome looked pretty good. I thought I would give it a go this morning. The subject body is the Revell 1956 Ford pickup. I bough a bottle of the Testors Gloss Tangerine and thinned it with the Sunnside lacquer thinner that I keep on hand. I did not prime the body and this is a first for me. Air pressure was set at 35 psi running through my Paasche H airbrush. By the time I got done with 4 coats of paint I had used the whole bottle. Except for some trash in the paint (I paint outside) it came out pretty good but not as good as Dave G. red that he airbrushed.

If you followed my build you know I had a problem at the end of the build. With that being said I got everything put back together except the interior. I cleaned it up and glued it back together but I still couldn't get the body to go all the way down. I wasn't going to fight it again so I left the door panels and dash out. I also got the decal fixed I guess. Looks a little crooked but that's the best I could do. I tried polishing the paint in the area that got messed up and it looks better than it did but still looks bad. Enjoy the pics I guess fellows.

Nice looking collection of cars. They look really nice.

NIce looking pair of dune buggies. Reminds me of when my father in-law had a couple of these. They were a hoot to drive.
-
Nice looking restoration. That Tamiya paint looks slick. Well done.

That's a good looking Caddy. Did you have any of the sheet left after doing all that foil work ☺ The color looks great. NIce job.
-
Your doing great with the new camera. Nice looking old school cars. The nail polish finish looks great. I like the blue double nickel.
-
Great looking little Mini Cooper. The color looks nice.
-
Nice looking Chrysler. The color looks good.

NIce looking 36 Ford project. The white walls give it that old school look and the slotted mags give it the Hot Rod look. I like the mags.
-
Thanks Dave. We don't really go for the trophys but it's nice when you win one, or two. We like the Hot Rod seen, all the cars/trucks, and swapping lies with other fellows.

At Walmart (at least one store)
Zippi replied to Classicgas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Our local Walmart doesn't normally carry much in the way of models. I'll have to check the next time I'm there. -

Thanks Carl. Wife and I took our 1949 Chevy pickup 1:1 to a car show yesterday about an hour from home and we won two trophys. One for Majors choice and one for best of show. It's got me in a good mood so I'm getting on the 41 Willy's this morning.

Like you have said Bob and others as well. Just need to walk away for a few days. In the famous words of Forest Gump, Sh*t happens. Thanks for the encouragement fellows.
