  1. So, so much this. ^^^^^ I always get a chuckle out of the "I would buy that if they reissued it!" comments. Why not just buy one original kit instead of two reissued kits? Now there are exceptions (One Armed Bandit, Monogram Sport Coupe, and so on), but many times, all it takes is paying double, exactly as Tom stated.
  2. I remember it being on clearance for $13 or so, and I still passed on it. Not a whole lot of "extras" in that particular kit, and the particular box art and decals were less than enticing. Maybe Revell's just-as-easily found '66 Chevelle wagon has contributed to that lack of want, too.
  3. I recall reading about a tire cutting method using a horizontal single edge razor blade, mounted to a block, which was somehow height adjustable. No results when I searched here on the forum, so it may have been elsewhere on the web. Maybe the mention will trip someone's memory, as I seem to recall it was a great idea and gave good results. I want to say it was posted by someone who built heavy trucks, but don't hold me to that. Here's a kinda-sorta similar post?:
  4. Chuck mentioned such a thing in the Ford C-series Reference topic:

  6. You did see the '57 Chrysler 300C is being reissued, right? I don't think that ever came with a continental kit (the kit, not the real car), and not sure if it'll have the custom parts, too (like the '62 Pontiac Catalina), or not, though.
  7. I managed to find some pics online showing the frame a little better/more clearly (well, at least the frame wasn't obscured), but I don't want to put all my faith in one 77 year old truck in case this frame was modified from how it was made at the factory. It does appear the taller added frame piece has a rather abrupt step, but the piece appears to continue along the entire length of the frame rail...at least that's how I'm planning to create mine.
  8. FTFY. Come on Round2, I promise I will buy two! (not cases, just single kits)

  10. Perfect, thank you. Just a smidge over 15" in 1/25.
  11. I was (and still am, though a little less so) hopeful this kit would be announced for reissue after the the other former Lesney era VW Scirocco , Sunbeam Tiger, and Datsun 280ZX Turbo kits were, but nothing...yet.
  12. My guess is they decided to simplify the kit and release multiple versions of the same basic kit, in an effort to recoup some of their investment. They were molded in polypropylene, and designed to be played with, so more toy than what most of us would consider a legitimate display model:
  13. I'm guessing Revell based their kit upon a real Bronco which had the flares, and a quick Goolgle search turns up at least one wearing the flares and also equipped with Gates Commando XT tires as Erik mentioned above. The sidewall ribs look a bit too heavy/thick to me, but maybe that can be toned down a bit via some sanding. I'm perfectly at ease with fender flares at both ends, as having them at one end only looks imbalanced. While that may not be correct for a factory Stroppe Bronco, I doubt the handful of people who bought the kit intending to build it exactly that way will be too turned off. Erik, could we get an O.D. measurement of the wheels at the lip, where they poke through the tires, please?
  14. Is this a "known" car, as in the VIN was known and the car's whereabouts have been traced? Not sure if it was even a street legal car or just a prototype/test car, but that display really puts it over the top. That's a lot spikey things to make for a scale diorama, though.
  15. That's a nice metallic blue. Make sure you prime all the body parts white before you spray the blue, or you'll lose some of the "pop".
  16. In Revell's defense, they chose "Sedan Delivery", probably knowing full well there was no such thing in the 1931 Ford lineup, and simply adding close-out panels to the existing 55-B Tudor Sedan kit to gain a "new" Sedan Delivery kit. Factoring this is a pure Street Rod, I don't think it's a huge sin on Revell's part.
  17. These 1/12 scale American Racing Torq Thrust D style wheels are now available. PM me for more details or info, please. These drop right into the Monogram Goodyear Eagle ST tires from earlier issues of the '69 Camaro Z/28 and '57 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop kits, the Tamiya Goodyear All-Weather Racing Tires, and more.

  19. Nothing specific, but I do like mine double ended pin vise, which has reversible collets to fit many different size drill bit. I would suggest one with a ball type end, as mine digs into my palm when drilling for a while, which is not ideal. I don't even recall where I purchased mine, but they are easy to find online. Here's one that looks comfortable to use....*edit* so I just bought it and will LYK how well it works:
