There are no problems. It's a great kit, and I'd say one of the best released during the Revell-Monogram era. The optional flathead hop-up parts are more modern than vintage, so that could be viewed as a negative by some? Buy it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Is the material used for the curved, front end the same as the sides? Maybe start with something a little newer, like so, which has a flat front?

That's a different kit than the one being discussed. The kit you saw is this one:

1/25 AMT Kenworth/Challenge Transit Mixer
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Thanks. Sounds a lot like other AMT tire caps(?) I have seen. Is the Challenge mixer in the AMT kit a 10 yard mixer? This (below) truck is described as a 10-yard model with a chain drive motor which is what I think the AMT has/represents? -
Interesting bit of history regarding the '70 kit I was not aware of: I guess the 1/24 Monogram Turbo Trans Am is gone for good, then:
-
Monogram didn't specify a model year for its 1/24 scale Trans AM Pontiac kit, but I think their was intent was that it could be built as either a '77 or '78, depending upon which hood bird decal the builder chose to apply. Here's a look at the original issue, kit number 2247, from 1979, courtesy of various eBay listings: I never realized two hood birds were included until just now, but it does appear both '77 and '78 style birds are included: But wait!, there was also a companion Trans Am Street Machine kit, number 2258, also released in 1979, which featured a custom nose piece, hood, six-spoke wheels, bucket seats, turbocharged induction system, and "Turbochief" decals: The stock version has been reissued a few times since 1979, and now exists as a 3'n1 kit, shown below in the "Warbird" box: The Street Machine version was only issued once, and never seen again... not necessarily a bad thing.

I had no idea. Probably not on the second version then. -

Why? I mean, it makes a lot of sense from a "how do we release what appears to be an all-new kit from something which already exists in or inventory" line of thinking, and Round2 does it all the time-- same basic kit, new decals, a few new parts, new box art, and wham, "new" kit. Grease is a pretty popular (and by now classic) movie and musical, so, why not? People are always clamoring for a totally stock kit option, too, so here they go. I don't think those are cheater slicks, are they? I think they are just the stock 16" tires (quite nice, BTW) with a bit of artistic license sprinkled in.
-
The wheels may be the same steel wheels the kit has included with the stock option, but it will be interesting to see if new baby moon hubcaps are included or if the builder is expected to use the stock Ford dog dish hubcaps, leaving the left rear one off. Either way, it will be interesting to see how much of the original ProModeler kit is still included.

Thanks for posting that, Tim...I need to get my butt to Sandy at some point to check out the Museum. I think Jesse/Daddyfink may have posted some pics if the 1/10 Revell Attempt 1 master being loaded up to head to Utah from Tom West's(?) place a few years ago? I recall that dull black finish on the master and a black early Ranchero... -
1969 Dodge “Country Charger” R/T by round2
Casey replied to Nick Notarangelo's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
No, this about licensing from Warner Brothers, period. Was it "PC bs" when Revell did something very similar with the ProModeler '69 Dodge Charger R/T kit over twenty years ago? No, "bs" is when a person publicly lashes out at a forum owner, has his membership deleted, then sneaks back in a few months later under a new name. That is B.S. -

Hard to tell if that's scratchbuilt or heavily modified from the IMC tanker trailer: -
Revell's "new" Jeep & Snowmachine kit

If anyone has built the snowmachine snowmobile yet, could you please measure the overall length, from the tips of the skis to the rear grab handle? -

Applying the same logic, shouldn't there have been Street Machine options for Monogram's '70 Superbird and '70 Pontiac Trans Am kits too? I wouldn't include the '70 Road Runner as it was created long after the other '80s Monogram Mopar musclecar releases. -
Were these Halibrand wheels originally part of the Revell Drag Racing Wheels parts pack, pictured in the bottom right corner below? And the American wheels in row two, too?

I recall hearing something about that Studebaker sedan/post body previously, and it may have from one of your posts, Mark, but thanks for the backstory. The chassis looks really worked over, but the two braces forward of the rear axle kick-up do appear to be the same: The Blown '58 Chrysler V-8 Engine, Custom Car Frame, and Drag Racing Wheels were the Parts Packs which were pirated, and at least some part of each re-used as part of the Miss Deal kit if I understand correctly? -
Thanks for looking into that and taking the pic, Kari. This makes AMT's decision to make the Gremlin seats so narrow even more puzzling. The Gremlin kits really need a LOT of work to get them to a decent level IMHO, but the funkiness of its design is just irresistible.

MCRC's 73' El Camino review?
Casey replied to Sergey's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Consider me duped. Nice work on it, and hopefully someone who has purchased the MCRC '73 El Camino kit can provide some direct feedback on it.
