He sent you $20, too? Did you send him a PM and let him know?

Revell 30 Model A Ford Production Halted?
Casey replied to Daddyfink's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It's clear there was quite a bit of demand for the '30 Coupe, and probably five(?) times more than for the '29 Roadster (Brett, maybe you have could share a comparison ratio of sales numbers?), so Revell could return the '30 Coupe to production status, pump out more as originally designed, and have no worries. There are going to be future variants from this common design work, so making changes to those variants, instead of making them on the original/repaired '29/'30 molds, makes more sense to me. *mic drop* -

wheels for 1/24 Italeri truck
Casey replied to Corsair's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
It sounds like Jeff is looking for wheels which fit the tires he has. Was there a specific wheel or source kit mentioned in the article, Jeff? Is it these wheels you are wanting?: -
As Mark said, keeps your hopes low and you won't be disappointed. Revell kits of the late '70s-to-early '80s weren't all that good, and this one is fairly typical of that "kind-of-looks-like-the-real-thing" feel which was common during that period. The engine block and transmission halves combine with a one-piece intake manifold/cylinder heads/carburetor, so while there are separate valve covers, don't expect great detail. I'm not sure if the 1/25 or 1/16 version came first, but they are basically the same, save for the size difference: There were also Pontiac Firebird models in both 1/25 and 1/16, and I believe they share the same chassis and engine with the Camaro kits, as was very common at Revell back then. The rubber tires are interesting, though I recall they are a bit undersized, and closer to 14".

I don't think I've ever seen any aftermarket company making them. R&McoMD, maybe?

Looks correct to me: I'm guessing changing the ink color is all that would be required when tampo printing the sidewall lettering, so we'll see what's included when the kit(s) are released.

Yeah, I thought that was a bit odd, too, but maybe it's only for this specific kit? *fingers crossed* I suspect there will be a few more show rod kits reissued which can utilize these tires in the next few years, kits such as the Barris 'T' Buggy, Tiger Shark, Raider's Coach, etc., which were reissued under RC2/Learning Curve which would require little more than new box art, decals, and tires. Let's hope the tampo printing is off-white in future kits, though.

1/25 Jeep Gladiator
Casey replied to Casey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I worked on the bed today, adding a front wall which was made from the Revell '65 pickup's rear cab wall, shortened (vertically) a bit. Not exactly correct, but it'll do: The off-white filler pieces were necessary due to the box-stock kit's too short wheelbase. When I originally cut the bed free separated from the cab, it made the gap between the front of the bed to the cab even greater, so I knew I would have to make that distance up at some point. I should've made some resin copies of the rear bed caps/ends, but I glued those to the bed sides, so that was no longer possible. I wanted to add some type of boxed in structure to the front vertical corners of the bed anyway, so this is a good start. The bed is as square as I could get it, and it matches up well with the cab profile, too. I left the filler pieces and front bed wall wider than necessary so I could sand them to match the bedside's profile: Below is the cleaned up frame in front of the cab and bed, with the rear axle centerlines aligned: The green marks on the front end of the frame are where the box stock axle centerline was located, which is a good 1/4"+ too far to the rear now: No biggie, really. I will add a filler piece to the frame rails to get thing realigned, and since I'm not using any of the kit's suspension, new mounting points are required anyway. I found a deep-dish style 5-lug, 5-slot style wheel which fits well inside the Goodyear Wrangler Radial tires, so I will probably narrow them a bit and add some hub detail. -
Revell 30 Model A Ford Production Halted?

It's hard to tell exactly what that third number is. I'm sure some would be happy to see either one reissued. -
Revell 30 Model A Ford Production Halted?

Most of these appear to be '50s and '60s era molds, and the one I was able to get a matching kit number off of (I think it was 12B above) was a Renwal prop plane kit. Maybe the Renwal Revivals are in there. If that red-faced mold on the bottom is indeed Revell H-1551 it should be the Allison Prop Jet Engine. the one to the right of it looks like H 12...31? Or maybe H 1251, which would be the Revell '62 Plymouth Fury? -
Revell 30 Model A Ford Production Halted?
Casey replied to Daddyfink's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It is a bummer, even if the subject matter doesn't appeal to everyone. I'm sure it'll be back, maybe even in slightly modified form. The '30 seems to have outsold the '29 by a good margin (4:1, maybe?), as there are still plenty of '29s available for $20 or so. '30s, not so much. -
Simply beautiful, in all aspects.

I could see a modified reissue with the half cab included, some custom (13", yeah! ) wheels, a light bar, and a few other small changes, but I get the feeling the original stock version was meant to provide the bulk of the profits. I guess we'll see how well this original version sells/is selling (I suspect very well). Perhaps there will only be this version, and no future modified reissues.

1954 Maxim 750 Pumper
Casey replied to Chariots of Fire's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Seeing how you break down the complex shape of the cab into smaller pieces, then bring them all together is what makes your projects so satisfying to follow. I just looked back at the photo of the real truck on page one, and I'd say the headlight bezels will indeed be a bit of a challenge, but I suspect you can handle it. -
Thanks, guys.
