1/12 scale bbc questions
dino246gt replied to Fantom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The 3D stuff I've gotten in both 1/25th and 1/8th scale are better than kit parts. -
Sort of like the REAL ones! Nice work you did on that, so someday I'll try it, at lease I know it can be done! Cheers, Dennis

Here's how I made the chopped 3 window roof fit better: First picture shows the side body line where the roof part is proud at the rear and the opposite at the front. Second picture shows after I sliced the body to allow me to fit scrap styrene into that slot as a wedge to keep the body lined up. Third pic shows the consistent reveal of the body line from rear of kit roof to front. I guess it would've been easier before I glued the roof on, but either way, it works.

Wow, that' so cool, I've often thought about opening those doors, looks intimidating, how was it to do? Sure looks cool!

Beautiful build on my favorite Ferrari, love it!

Amazing work on an oft overlooked kit, and I've seen this in person, wow!

Here's how I did my interior, and I have a suggestion for you, IF you plan to display it with "doors open". Glue the inner and outer door parts together and fill the seam and THIN the edge before painting. This necessitates removing the pins that the side glass glues to, no problem, it'll drop in after and probably fit better! On mine, the finished product is a bit of a let down because of that door thickness and the gap between the inner and outer, plus the side glass doesn't sit down far enough, imo. Cheers, great kit though!

Raised details, like trim and badges
dino246gt replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Yeah I don't know why all model cars don't include those dry transfer scripts like Tamiya, Aoshima, Fujimi, etc. does. Makes the paint easier to polish and they have a scale thickness to them. I guess it's only because of cost. If an aftermarket company could make them available, wow that'd be so cool! -
Beautiful vintage hot rod, I love it!

Nice yellow Dino, you KNOW I love Dinos, and Ron, Dino was Enzo's only son, who designed the V6. Enzo was all about V12s. Tragically Dino died young. The 308 was a V8 version of Dino's fabulous V6. 2.4 liter 6 cylinder, hence the name 246. 3 liter V8, hence 308. Older Ferraris were named for the displacement of ONE cylinder, because Enzo knew they were all V12s. 250 is 250cc per cyl. x12 equals 3 liter, yes those Ferrari V12s were only 3 liter.

Scout Parts

Here's how mine ended up, no hood latch yet but mostly complete, I did an easy hood hinge, which I can explain if anyone's interested. Not totally accurate but WAY better than "out of box", not? -
Wow, that's pretty amazing bodywork, I'd have not thought of doing it that way, very cool indeed!

Tom, I removed it at the drip rail, then using an emery board, sanded the roof section down just a bit, then glued it back on, keeping the rear where it belongs, only shortage was where the windshield header mates. The roof was vinyl, now it's smooth so blending it in at the top of the windshield header was easy. In scale, 1/8th of an inch equals about 3 inches! So at first it was going to be a high end modern custom, then I thought maybe better as a '60s surfer woody, but I also thought about making it into something like a Dodge Power Wagon, 1 ton!!! Still dreaming and working on the interior panels, slowly between other projects!
-
I"m thinking of light tan, which I've already painted it in, but I've dropped the hood 3 times and each time it chipped, so a repaint is in order. I've re-designed the rear wood configuration and fitted the Chevy dash, still making interior panels, remember it started as a 4 door Ford.
