  1. Wicked little Bantam, Karl. It turned out great. Really digging the Hudson 6.
  2. It's coming along very nicely, Ron. Fine attention to detail. Looking great.

    The "Trio"

Nice trio of ponies, David. They look great displayed together. Nice work.
  4. Thanks for the Turbonique info. Such a cool device. I was always curious about these things when I would see them as a kid in car magazines., but couldn't quite understand their operation. In that era of cheesy performance add-ons for cars, even then I had wondered just how legit the power claims were. Years later, as I came to better understand turbines, I realised that the power potential was significant, and wondered if any were successfully employed.

    1957 T-Bird

    Nice classic T-Bird.
  6. Primer, lots of light, and magnification. The neutrality of grey primer makes it particularly well suited for inspection of flaws and previous repairs, easier to read than white or black. It will show everything you need to see. Apply primer and examine thoroughly (with light and magnification), noting imperfections. Then lightly sand with a fine abrasive (preferably block sanding), clean, and inspect again. Address all issues and repeat. For inspection of heavy body mods, especially those that required a lot of filler, use the guide-coat method. This requires two colours or shades of primer. Apply one colour, once dry apply a light coat of the second colour. Then block sand the area, low spots/high spots will be revealed in the contrasting colours/shades.
  7. Cool! Good looking old modified. I loved these MPC modifieds back in the 70s. They go together well and always look great on the shelf. That last pic of the Ford and Chevy together brings back memories.
  8. Good looking Woody.
  9. Coming along nicely. Good attention to detail. Watch out for that rabbit hole, some of them are deep.
  10. Just catching up on this build again. Lots of great work here David. The interior is fantastic and your burl is stunning. Too bad about the glass.
  11. Welcome back Joseph. That was some errand. We would love to see some of those vintage NASCAR Sportsman photos. Post some up in the '1:1 Reference Photos' part of the forum. Cheers.
  12. Very impressive! That is some fine model building. Looking forward to seeing more.
  13. I am a proponent of the nose oil method, too. I discovered this method when I was a kid and have been using it ever since. It works great, but I had thought it a quirky thing to do, and was sure I was the only one doing it. Many years later when Internet forums became a thing, I was amazed to find that model builders all over the world had discovered and employed the same method. I kind of thought that was a cool thing. I usually do this with Testors enamels. They respond well, and almost impossible to overdo it. I can get very aggressive with the rubbing to get the desired effect. The paint holds up very well. I have also used a similar technique using Tamiya wax and a small piece of leather glued to a stick. I apply wax to the leather and give the paint a good rub. Works well on larger surfaces like a dash pad, etc.
  14. That is a very fine looking Woody, Mario. Nice finishes, especially on the wood.
  15. Very cool Ford. Great looking truck.
  16. Welcome to the forum, Joe. Cool stuff, getting the kids involved. Cheers.
  17. I saw this in your intro thread, and I think it's freaking cool. I am certainly interested in learning more about it. I would like one for my desk at work, but if I had one, I would never get any work done. I'd stare at the smoke for a couple hours, watch what it's doing, then take a piece of clay and add a feature or two, then watch it for another hour or so, change the clay.... Then the next day I would try it all over again with a different car.
  18. Wow! Is this body intended to be used on a model project, or as a standalone art piece?
  19. Good looking GTO. LOVE the colour.
  20. Nice kitbash, Greg. That Mustang interior integrates with the vintage T_Bird nicely. The bumpers look great, too. Well done.
  21. I dig it! 37s make great gassers, and you nailed it. The gold paint has a cool period vibe.
  22. Cool! Wicked Cammer.
  23. Some very nice work going on here. Looking good.
  24. Shipping is the killer for me. Shipping to Canada from the US is minimum $30-40 for a kit. This puts a serious pinch on buying kits. The initial buy-in has to be stupid cheap in order to make a purchase worth while. For me, this makes any currently available kit purchase untenable. In the last five years I have bought maybe five or six kits on ebay, all vintage, all much wanted and searched-for kits, all snagged for unusually low prices. Curiously, all other countries are much cheaper to ship from, with the possible exception of Australia. It is almost always cheaper to order from, say, UK, Poland, Germany, Ukraine, or Japan, etc. than from the dozens on offer on this continent.
  25. Now that's pretty cool. With the dynamics suitably scaled down, I wonder how the model fares compared to the 1:1. Welcome to the forum, Grandpa.
