Outstanding!

Have you considered the Radirs from the Thunderbolt kit for the rears?
-
No, the Keith Marks decals is for the Road Runner, and does not have any 3-D effect.
-
I built one of those back in the '60's from the original kit issue when I was a kid. It was a treasure trove of parts.
-
I am a fan of NASCAR, even though I have absolutely no interest in building one. I hope that this endeavor is successful.in that the company may branch out into different subject matter that may interest me.

Finally!!!! Absolutely amazing work!!!!
-
I saw Brain's build, and I concur with Monty's statement about it. One of my S/C Ramblers came with a set of Photoetch emblems and side marker lights. I happen to like the '64 thru '69 Rambler American, as I have several of the kits, and only built one, and have 3 under construction. The S/C Rambler kit is one of those kits that will take a lot of work to get absolutely right , as the raw material is not a true '69 as Tom stated.
-
The only reason I asked about paint is that 90% of these kits I have seen were moulded In white, and in a lot of cases decals will pull up from the edges. I am sorry to hear that the Firebird decals did not work for you. I do not think that it was your fault, as the ones I used on my '60 Country Squire pulled away at the edges, but I was able to fix them.

Revell Olds Cutlass 442/ FE3-X kit review
Ron Hamilton replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I plan to buy two of them based on your review. One as a 442, and the other as a Calais utilizing the Model Car Garage PE set. Thanks!!! -
I plan to build a couple of those, and you are right about that kit. It needs a lot of work to get it to look right. I would have removed the door handles and trimmed the decals to make them fit better without resorting to the use of Solva Set. Did you paint the car? An unpainted model will affect the way decals lay on the car in that some residual mould release will stay on the car. There was a Rambler dealership 2 blocks from my elementary school, and they had a few S/C Ramblers from time to time, and I remember them quite well. I want to do both the "A" and "B" schemes, but the decal makers only did the "A" scheme. I have a Fred Cady sheet, and a JoHan sheet for the decals. It will be several years before I do it, as I have a couple of '66 Americans with the 6 Cylinders I want to do first as twins in the same color combination, (Yellow with a Black Interior) one being a Hardtop, and the other being a convertible.

I have an original 1963 Falcon convertible to restore. I have fixed the body, and I am considering the fixes on the interior. I may have to remove the bucket seats from the tub to add detail, and if I do, I plan to copy them in resin for the Pickup project. The resin copy I have represents a '62, but I have two other '63's. One, an original AMT, which I can back date to a 62, and a resin Flareside. On my pickup, I plan to take a couple of liberties, one an FX style dual scooped hood, a set of American Torque Thrusts, with the widened rears with pie-crust cheaters, and red paint, with white inserts in the mouldings. Just a nasty, street driven beast.

Revell Olds Cutlass 442/ FE3-X kit review
Ron Hamilton replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I have bought more than one model kit based on your reviews which I enjoy very much. Thank you and keep them coming. -
I have some model master paint that is pretty close. That car is stunning. I have the Steelers, dog dishes, and a set of AMT pad printed Polyglas GT Tires to pull it off.

Still needs some refinement. I may be wrong.

I really like those ' Cudas. I have a couple of those kits to do myself. I was watching Graveyard Cars this week, and I saw a Burnt Orange one that looked interesting. I like the steelies so I got a set for the build. Your builds look great.

I noticed that there are scripts on the car, but no wheel opening or body side mouldings that were part of the Dynamic 88 trim level. Some 0.30 half round styrene should do the trick if you want it to be a Replica Stock build I plan to build mine as a book end to my convertible as a tribute to my Dad's 65 Even though his was a 98 Luxury Sedan, I really liked the color combination. I have a 65 Buick Wildcat restoration to get back to.

To me the GP roof on a 65 Impala would look strange. In fact, I have never liked the way that Monogram executed the rear backlight on their 65 Impala.I always thought AMT did the job better, so I would use the Wildcat for a roof donor. I even considered installing an AMT rear window into a Revell 65 Impala. You are right about the Revell 65 being the better kit.

Several years ago, I was lucky enough to get a built-up 1965 Olds 88 Hardtop and a promo convertible with the windshield frame broken off. I made a nice car out of the convertible, and I was originally going to turn the hardtop into a Jetstar I, as I had an unbuilt 88 by hardtop, which I sold for some crazy money, so the hardtop I have will remain a Dynamic 88. I suggest that you turn yours into a Jetstar I, as the mouldings have been shaved. It would be a one of a kind build. I may still do it as a Jetstar I, as I have three 65 Grand prix the I can get the roof and bucket seats from.

The wheels that came in the AMT 65 Olds 88 kit are actually accurate. It is just that they were optional, and rarely ordered on the 88 and 98 series cars. They were called the Custom Sport Wheelcovers, and they were not alloy wheels. My dad's 65. Olds 98 Luxury Sedan Had them. He bought his car new on Easter Monday 1965. He kept then on the car for about a year, replacing them with a set of Buick Chrome wheels with Cal Custom knock-off spinners. I have another 65 Olds Model car to restore. I considered doing it as a Jetstar I, but it is too nice to cut up.

New! Improved! '69 Charger Glue Bomb Resto/Rescue New Pics 2/12
Ron Hamilton replied to Snake45's topic in Model Cars
It's so nice to bring them back from the dead. I have so many graveyard dwellers to work this year, I wonder why I do new kits. The satisfaction from fixing up bunkers is great! -
Thanks for the interior trim photos. I am happy that you have some good detail photos of the interior. If I were doing the interior in this manner, I would use some half round styrene strips for the upholstery inserts and Heavy duty thread for the piping, I did the same for a 63 Mercury comet S22 convertible project I am working on.
