  1. I really like those ' Cudas. I have a couple of those kits to do myself. I was watching Graveyard Cars this week, and I saw a Burnt Orange one that looked interesting. I like the steelies so I got a set for the build. Your builds look great.
  2. I noticed that there are scripts on the car, but no wheel opening or body side mouldings that were part of the Dynamic 88 trim level. Some 0.30 half round styrene should do the trick if you want it to be a Replica Stock build I plan to build mine as a book end to my convertible as a tribute to my Dad's 65 Even though his was a 98 Luxury Sedan, I really liked the color combination. I have a 65 Buick Wildcat restoration to get back to.
  3. To me the GP roof on a 65 Impala would look strange. In fact, I have never liked the way that Monogram executed the rear backlight on their 65 Impala.I always thought AMT did the job better, so I would use the Wildcat for a roof donor. I even considered installing an AMT rear window into a Revell 65 Impala. You are right about the Revell 65 being the better kit.
  4. Several years ago, I was lucky enough to get a built-up 1965 Olds 88 Hardtop and a promo convertible with the windshield frame broken off. I made a nice car out of the convertible, and I was originally going to turn the hardtop into a Jetstar I, as I had an unbuilt 88 by hardtop, which I sold for some crazy money, so the hardtop I have will remain a Dynamic 88. I suggest that you turn yours into a Jetstar I, as the mouldings have been shaved. It would be a one of a kind build. I may still do it as a Jetstar I, as I have three 65 Grand prix the I can get the roof and bucket seats from.
  5. The wheels that came in the AMT 65 Olds 88 kit are actually accurate. It is just that they were optional, and rarely ordered on the 88 and 98 series cars. They were called the Custom Sport Wheelcovers, and they were not alloy wheels. My dad's 65. Olds 98 Luxury Sedan Had them. He bought his car new on Easter Monday 1965. He kept then on the car for about a year, replacing them with a set of Buick Chrome wheels with Cal Custom knock-off spinners. I have another 65 Olds Model car to restore. I considered doing it as a Jetstar I, but it is too nice to cut up.
  6. I have one. I bought mine from " afx on scale" on EBay a few years ago. I planned to do the same sort of build with mine.
  7. It's so nice to bring them back from the dead. I have so many graveyard dwellers to work this year, I wonder why I do new kits. The satisfaction from fixing up bunkers is great!
  8. Thanks for the interior trim photos. I am happy that you have some good detail photos of the interior. If I were doing the interior in this manner, I would use some half round styrene strips for the upholstery inserts and Heavy duty thread for the piping, I did the same for a 63 Mercury comet S22 convertible project I am working on.
  9. Excellent rear end treatment!! Makes me want to do one.
  10. I did not answer your question to be a smart---. If you look at Rick's photo, one wagon is true to the one-to -one with smooth, straight edges, and the other is mis-proportioned in that the rear compartment is too short and the roof has as many waves in it as my hair. The good one with the woodgrain is from The Modelhaus, and the other is from whats his name.
  11. Excellent!!!! Great attention to detail!!!!
  12. I got mine, and I am very impressed, except that it needs a set of Cragars, which I will pluck from my '61 Catalina kit. One question, did the real one have a roll bar?
  13. I love this truck!!!! I have a resin short bed Ford in my stash to do something similar. I just bought a twin scooped hood for mine to give it some flavor. I have to do a little research to see what else I have to get. I know you will do this build justice!
  14. I dare ya!
  15. It took some serious practice, but I am satisfied with my Motolow pens. I am still using Bare Metal Foil for most of my chrome work. I cannot afford the other stuff.
  16. A few years ago, I restored a beat up Red '66 T-Bird Town Hardtop promo, using parts from a $5.00 Convertible kit, and it came out great, Strange thing, I have the original annual kits of the Town Landau, and the Convertible, as well as a couple of the later issues of the kit , and a rather ratty '65 Thunderbird Hardtop, which I plan to turn into a '66 Hardtop. There was a white one-to-one, that I really liked.
  17. I still have several of the old annual and the original "new tool" 1966 Fairlane kits in the stash to build. I probably will not buy this version, but the box art, and the white styrene are very nice selling points.
  18. I pulled out the "California Flash" version of the Moebius '65 Plymouth Belvedere I, and it looks to me as if it is a very good representation of a 1965 A990 Car, in that it has a proper race hemi, and the appropriate interior upgrade , with the rear seat blanked out, and the shipping exhaust system. The original Moebius 1965 Belvedere I sedan is at best, an upgraded street machine, that cannot be built as a replica stock automobile without a trip to the parts box and some scratch building. I looked at a photo of an actual A990 car that was recently sold at auction, and I noticed that the kit lacks a NHRA legal roll cage, and a set of Cragar S/S wheels, even though I saw a few pictures of one running the American Mags, which are in the kit. The body is very nice, and highly polished. I will probably have to get another one of these to do an accurate "Black Arrow". I'll have to source an automatic transmission, column shifter, and a roll bar. An A990 Dodge Coronet would be a very nice addition, as well an altered wheelbase version.
  19. Look hard at the pictures. Rick has done a lot of work on the model, and while they are not of Modelhaus quality, the subject matter is interesting. If that is acceptable to you, go for it!!!! I am not going to write anything disparaging, so there.
