While I appreciate the majority of current race cars, the term that comes up most is the "brutalism" of them. I so much prefer the smooth and organic lines of the 50's and 60's cars. I'll even go so far as to say I like the lines of the Ferrari F40 (Enzo's last effort) far more than the F50 and follow-ons. Yes, I am old. And yes, I'd buy a kit of the Callaway (most likely it will be a resin conversion when/if offered). It will go with my C5R/C6R/C7R kits along with my upcoming purchase of the Ford GT Le Mans edition when it comes out.

Got mine yesterday. Good work and thanks for your efforts.

Can't have a Cobra . . .
The Junkman replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Another nice addition is this one: https://www.amazon.com/Shelby-American-Racing-History-Friedman/dp/0760303096/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1519672933&sr=8-1&keywords=shelby+american+racing+history Nice detailed overview of Cobras, Sunbeam Tigers, prototypes, Trans Am efforts. I've reached the point where I have to touch any new volume to decide whether to add it to the pile or not. There's a lot of overlap between the various books. With just Cobra, Shelby, and GT40 I think I've got close to 30 soft cover and hard cover books. -
Somebody (Perry's Resin?) had decals for this one and I think it was made for the AMT kit. Always thought it would be a good counterbalance to the all white factory Cobras.

Any Ferrari with Lusso or GTB in the title. -
Someone say "D" Type ?
The Junkman replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've got the predecessor to the Fisher D Type (Dragon Model Works) and I've got to improve my resin mojo before I attempt it. Its a bit rough. I also have the Revell XK-SS kit and was considering doing it as an Ecurie Ecosse racer but am now thinking of doing an homage to Steve McQueen after having seen his original last month at the Petersen Museum in LA. That means probably getting a Fisher kit to continue with the Ecosse car. I would almost kill for someone to put out an affordable C-type. I've always liked the lines of that one better than the D. -

While you've have his attention would you ask him to do some late model Mustang stripes?

What did you see on the road today?
The Junkman replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wore shorts, short sleeved shirt and ankle socks today in Nor Cal. If I need to gloat I call the in-laws in.....Toronto and Cobourg. Yes, it is pricey but I just need to buy a slightly heavier sweatshirt to make it through winter. And one set of tires. To keep this on topic, yesterday I also saw a Citation in rural (affluent!) Marin County. Probably the first in 20 years. 10 minutes later a Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer, again 20 years after the last one I'd seen. -

Twice, 2001 (above) and 2008. They came in black also. Sorry, Highland Green or nothing. -

Drove up from LA yesterday. Had to visit a sick aunt. I did take time to go the Petersen Museum. If in LA do NOT miss it. Its not every day you find yourself in a building with probably $200 million in auto hardware, on one floor. Had a 70 years of Ferrari exhibit. 1958 250TR Pontoon Fender, '63 330 LMB, 65 250LM, "Christine", Back To The Future DeLorean, Magnum's 308 GTB, a magnificent Low Rider exhibit....it just goes on and on. At the intersection of Wilshire and S. Fairfax-right outside the museum I first heard then saw this one or very much its mate: even had that gawd-awful satin finish. (There, I said it). I'm pretty certain this is Volvo Woody I saw just north of Santa Barbara, didn't have a surf board but did have a paddle board on the roof rack. And before I forget: -
Oh so close! The "96" roundels and black stripes get me about 1/2 to one I've wanted to build in worst way. The sponsor logos, driver/mechanic names, and the "Executor" on the rear fenders are all missing, along with the "kidney bean" Halibrands. Patto's Place out of Australia has a set, ALPS printed I believe.

Favorite Movie 2017, which one for you?
The Junkman replied to 10thumbs's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
What I (also) enjoyed from Baby Driver was that all the stunts were done without CGI. Early in the chase when the car goes up the incline and makes a violent u-turn to go the wrong way up the freeway ramp, note the lack of pre existing skid marks on the pavement. That tells me (1) the driver did that on the first take or (2) it got cleaned up in post production editing. I prefer to believe (1). -

I really liked "Baby Driver". I went in without preconceived notions and was thoroughly entertained. (as an aside check out this precursor done a few years ago by the same director. And If you can-turn up the volume!) I really liked "Wonder Woman", I thought "Logan" was superb, Guardians of the Galaxy was a good 2 hours (+). Oh, and not to forget "John Wick 2". Waiting impatiently for "JW3". -
What non-auto model did you get today?
The Junkman replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Beats me. Revell, Monogram, ICM, Tamiya. I have scored 3 Classic Airframes P-51H kits but haven't gotten the gumption to try them yet. What I AM looking forward to is the new Revell 1/32 kit. Street price is supposed to be about what I paid for the Airfix. -
I am informed I violated the rules with the above posting. Thus I bring up what I bought the day before yesterday. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/255016397633481422/ It is, however, molded in the most vibrant orange.

I was told that I violated some nebulous policy by posting this in the wrong place. Hopefully the gods are now appeased. https://www.airfix.com/uk-en/north-american-p51-d-mustang-1-48.html Very nice and worth the price. -
I got one of these. https://www.airfix.com/uk-en/north-american-p51-d-mustang-1-48.html Between the 4 wheel variety and the propeller version, I'll bet I've got 50(+) kits and over 150 decal options.

I'd expect his hair was puffed on top and falling down his neck like a waterfall, even without the shorts. -
You do have a number of factory correct colors for the GT500 or just paint it any color you like. http://www.nvsaac.com/Details/1968_ford_mustang_paint_colors.htm

What would YOU like to see as a model
The Junkman replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank you. Little known fact, the Mangusta was the only car specifically exempted in the California Vehicle Code from the minimum height requirement of headlamps . Every other car has to be a minimum of 24 inches above the ground. The only way the Mangusta could do that would be to "donk" it. de Tomaso could have stopped there and looked back at a fulfilled life. -
Your favourite Box art
The Junkman replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just an indicator of the "ugly stick" Palmer used to beat all their kits. The stick was then passed along to Starfix.
