  1. Not much. Got a Racing Champions diecast 1970 Petty Superbird in 1/43rd. Box is present but trashed but the car is in real good shape. All of $5 at an estate sale. Gives me a grand total of 3 diecasts and 2 Monogram Cobra kits in 1/43rd. At least that portion of the model collection remains under control.
  2. Personally, I'd settle for modern, safety featured innards (COT being an example) with bone-stock bodies and aero mods for high speed stability at the appropriate tracks. Just putting a Chevy sticker or a Ford sticker on the front of the same body means nothing as far as fan identification with the product. Just change the engine and last week's Ford becomes this week's Toyota. The Mustang/Camaro of this year is a move in the right direction. I know they've been pushing the NBA idea-the players are the attraction and the vehicle is just that-a vehicle. How's that been working for them?
  3. Oh, sure. Bring reality into the conversation.
  4. New Corvette price-$100K (+/-)? Ford GT laughably above $500K with draconian re-sale restrictions. Honestly, except on the track I don't see them competing head-to-head.
  5. I recall a Road and Track cover story of a rear engine Corvette with a Wankel engine about 1971. Some timelines just don't pan out. Of course, the 1990 Mustang was supposed to be what was eventually released as the Probe, basically a Mazda 6 series under the skin.
  6. My list isn't long but it is fervent: '67-68 Mustang notchback. It far outsold the fastback (still my favorite body style of any car-full stop) but they were everywhere and had most of of the options of the f/b. Shelby Trans Am cars, anyone? An up to date 68-69 Torino. A hardtop would be great but even a fastback would be awesome. Add to that a wish for the 68-69 Mercury Cyclone. Dan Gurney/Cale Yarborough editions. Now for a laugh: an AMC Rebel Machine. In real life a day late and a dollar short but unique lines and color scheme.
  7. Ah, a sighting of the rare IH drywall catcher in its native environment. Two things I noticed: its missing a side mirror and (2) was that a for sale sign in the rear window?
  8. I just looked my over. What I found was two engine block/tranny assemblies. The sprue with the Boss 302 model specific parts (rear window louvers, etc) had the oil pan and all the other parts included though the attachment to the oil pan sprue was very thin. The other, with the main body/frame parts, didn't have the pan or pretty much any other engine parts. So I got a tranny and engine block extra.
  9. The first 10 minutes of "Le Mans" with Steve McQueen for your sounds. Turn it up loud. (Strange thing that: between "Le Mans" and the chase scene in "Bullitt" my wife always knows when I'm in the midst of a "McQueen Marathon".)
  10. I always entertained the theory that some Pontiac chief ("chief": get it? I slay myself) came up with a product and pushed it so hard that no one had the cojones to tell him/her "Boss, that's a gawd awful design" so it sailed through. Bad groupthink would work too.
  11. Never let a classic idea go to waste: Los Angeles Jan 2018 Yes, that's a Volvo s/w
  12. Pretty much everything on the outside of a Pontiac Aztek.
  13. Early in my Ebay experience, I won two ESCI 250 SWB kits. I just saw 250 SWB. When I got them I found they were pretty much glue bombs and had no tires. I went screaming back to the original listing and.....glue bombs with no tires. Slapping of head ensued. And a lesson learned-read carefully.
  14. I'm hoping this works out. I found a Fujimi Porsche 917 on Amazon last week. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MMWAFVI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The thing is; it was priced at $7.14 with $0.00 shipping. Obviously that's changed in the interim. I pulled the trigger on it because: why not! I just got a shipping notice and its supposed to be on the West Coast (the Best Coast) between the 8th and 23rd of April. I'll let you know how (if) it works out. It sort of reminds me of when Model Expo was blowing out of the plastic model scene. I got two Accurate Miniatures GS Corvettes and a Tamiya Skyraider for (basically) the cost of shipping.
  15. 88 parts and a level 4 grade. I'm not thinking its a snapper. Take a look at some of the detail pics on the link. https://www.revell.de/en/products/modelmaking/cars/motorsport/ford-gt-le-mans-2017.html https://stage.revell.de/fileadmin/import/images/bau/07041_%23BAU_FORD_GT_LE_MANS_V01_02_LOW.PDF
  16. https://www.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLHML&P=7 Its projected at a good price for me, I'll probably end up with two.
  17. I never watched the show but I heard that one point late in its run they were reduced to using AMC Matadors as victim cars.
  18. I'm looking at the 1-1 and I'm thinking "I hope they've got hydraulics on that thing because the only way to access the lug nuts to change a flat would be to take the fender off." Cool job
  19. There used to be a plethora of great hobby shops in the SF Bay area; San Antonio Hobby, D&J Hobby, Franciscan Hobbies... Now there are darn few and none of which would I call a good old time hobby shops. Berkeley Ace Hardware had an entire basement full but it moved and is now just a shadow of its former self. Hobby Co of SF on Geary was just OK the last time I went there. OTOH a few blocks to the west is Ton Kiang, some of the best Dim Sum in the city. Or go to Boudin Bakery at Geary and 10th for the best SF sourdough bread at its point of origin. Sorry
  20. Just the new 1969 Revell Boss 302 Mustang. I haven't bought diddly squat in a long time but I pulled the trigger on this one. I was going to turn it into a Trans Am racer (Dan Gurney with Fred Cady decals) but I really like what they did so its going to be stock. Maybe another kit is in the shopping list.
  21. "A long time ago in a country far, far away" (Actually June 2016 in Montreal during the run up to the Canadian GP) They had closed a few streets downtown for a vendor/spectator fair. Somehow, someone thought it a good idea to put this out in the Porsche display. Dents, scrapes, rust... Never realized carbon fiber could rust like that.
  22. You've got a local hobby shop. You lucky bum.
  23. You can also go here: http://www.mshobbies.com/belkits-wrc/ No connection with the seller but I've bought from him a number of times. Mark's a good guy.
