  1. sorry for the"dud"post, read the next one.:-)
  2. I think what he meant is that other than decals & a tire & wheel change, these sprint car kits are unchanged since their introduction in around 1987. There is a few places where you can get the parts & pieces to update one to current styles.,Great job on those decals, they can be a real thrill.
  3. I know that they don't make it real clear in the instructions, but the "ribbed" area on the dash it these old Olds were stainless, but could be painted in aluminum & it would appear very close, it isn't clear on the instructions either but most of the clock housings in the dash center were chrome.
  4. This kit was originally released as the "Little T" it has pretty much copied the releases of the Big T until the changes on that kit to the rear suspension. The black & gold release went along with the "Black Gold" release of the 1/8 scale T in the mid '90s.
  5. I like your concept, it's coming along well. I don't know what happened on that firewall to floor pan, on both of the Fairlanes I got (the stock kit, & the NASCAR kit) the firewall fit like a glove, I didn't have to do anything but clean a small amount of plastic "weld". I use liquid cement & liberally at that, it softened the two parts to the point that there was a small amount of plastic that oozed out of the joint, after it dried over night a sharp # 11 blade trimmed that away & it looks as though it came fro Revell as a single molded piece.
  6. I like the little Valiant, I'd like to find one of those in the plain Jane sedan version.
  7. That one puts you one up on me for the year, but I do have a lot of started ones.lol Beautiful job, makes one wonder what it would be like if you had used the Revell kit instead of the old AMT dinosaur.
  8. Nice build, & don't worry about the undercarriage or the shine, they are both about what would be expected in the time period had this car been used as a trade in & got a "new" paint job to spruce it up for resale.
  9. Personally I REALLY like the red one with the subtle top chop & one piece quarter glass.
  10. Nice job on the patina, looks like it's on the way back from one of the local tracks. (lol)
  11. read closer, he won the Ranchero as an award, driving his '33 Willys, that had the Caddy engine in it. If we got the car that he won "Little Eliminator" with it would be nice, an early version of the Willys Coupe that we already have, if I remember it was basically a stock body unlike the release that we have now (the one with the "cammer" motor.
  12. It's actually the Revell '34 Ford fenders that fit so well, the kit used for the model I'm building as a street rod came from the black molded one, it's the Hot Rod version I think, or the same fenders come in the burgundy '34 Ford roadster kit also.
  13. I came into this build really late, as I could have saved you a lot of work on that SHO motor, waaaaay back when SCCA ran a truck series, Saleen Racing ran Ford Rangers with the SHO motor, connected to the stock, Ranger 5 speed trans, now for the work saving part, they somehow turned the intake plenums 180 degrees, with the intake portion facing front, I don't know if you can still find any pictures of these, but they look like they came from the factory that way, its a real shame Ford didn't pick up on it as an option, it would have definitely made for a real street sleeper.
  14. I know that most manufacturers would let you do that, I don't know about any of the others, but if you tried to order a combo that they considered "non-resellable" Ford would not accept the order. I know of a lady that worked with my wife that tried to order a 1978 T-Bird in black with a green interior, & they refused the order saying that if she were to trade it back in at a later date the it would not be a car they deemed sellable.
  15. If it's in 1/25 scale, couldn't you use the Revell '37 panel Delivery for a lot of the stock parts?
  16. Being from Redding, the home of bothe Roger Whipp, & Don Hammon, I got to see quite a bit of this car, personally I was really disappointed when the switched from the early Hemi to the "Baby Hemi" Daimler engine. I looked like someone left it in the dryer to long.
  17. Know where you're coming from both with the thumb, while working on a boat in my younger days as a body shop owner I was using a 15 lb. slide hammer & talking to another person not paying attention to the placement of my upper hand, when I pulled the weight up to hit the stop imagine my surprise so find out my thumb was in between the two, popped my thumb on both side like a ripe plum! For the back just recovering from a disc removal, installation of a titanium cage (2) & two titanium rods to hold the vertebrae apart while the bone grows enough to fill in the space, still have another 8 months in the brace before rehab starts. Hope you get back on the project, it's really looking good & I could use some of your work as an instructional.
  18. I can already see a TON!! of Dale Jr. cars on the forums.
  19. you can get some pieces you might need to finish off the interior & boot area from the AMT '51 convertible kit, both same basic body from firewall back, & both kits are same scale.
  20. I think it would look really nice if you sanded off the body reveal around the rear fender openings & used some appropriate sized half round stock to raise the line to match the radius of the rear tire a little better, just a little trick that will actually make the body look much closer to the ground visually.
  21. I've always intended to actually build one of the half dozen or so that I robbed the tires & wheels out of, but I was gong to separate the front fenders & hood assembly at the line just above the side scoops to make it more like the C-3 'Vettes.
  22. Wouldn't the guy from "Graveyard Cars" have a conniption over this one? How would he ever restore that one, it has neither a born on date or a died on date.
  23. I have had Pinto's & Mustang II's since they first came out in '71, My first Mustang II was a '74 2.8 4 spd car, I had the 2.8 re-done by a local engine builder it was a super runner right at 350 horsepower, after the Mustang got sort of worn out on the body side I took the V-6 out & put it in a '74 Pinto runabout, the Pinto's were almost 1000 lbs. lighter, it was the best runner I had, I did build a '72 Runabout that had one of the high compression 302's in it with a C-4, & the V-6 was better to drive due to the weight balance, but the V-8 was most impressive as I kept the D50x13 rear tires on it. You could stand on the pedal at 70mph, & kick the tranny down to second & it would smoke the rear tires until either you ran out of balls or it got fast enough to shift. The V-6 had enough power that it would pull 7000 RPM's in 4th gear, no idea how fast that was as it ran out of speedo around 5500 rpm.
  24. Ask & you shall receive! it's on the shelves now, your're much luckier with your wishes than I am, all I want is the '71 Ford Pinto from AMT it is the only sedan version released all others were "Runabouts"
  25. The Revell '55,56 had the early cast iron PowerGlide not the one anyone would want for a modern drag car. You would want one from a '62 or later kit, even though the '58 kit has a TurboGlide, that kinda resembles a PowerGlide, but was more of a variable speed trans than a two speed.
