  1. Thanks for the heads-up on the holes. I thought something looked a little off. That said, I do see the advantage of the flashed-over holes, depending on the goals of the builders, and this may actually be a goof that works out well. Charlie Larkin
  2. From those instructions, the only real wart I could find was the missing oil filler tube- a trademark of an Olds V8, and fairly easy to replicate. With only very minor massaging, this car can be built into a Cutlass Calais (name used 1981-84, then the Cutlass Salon when the N-body Calais was introduced,) so that's a plus. Charlie Larkin
  3. What a neat little kit. This will be in the "seriously considered" list. Charlie Larkin
  4. Don't forget the 1986 Salon and the 1987 models, and the 1988 Cutlass Supreme Classic with the half-grilles, although getting the composite headlamps could be interesting. MCG could also do the standard wheel-discs and maybe even the wires and hood ornaments (the crest for the Canadian-built cars and the Rocket for the U.S.-built cars.) My major concern with doing this, though, would be, as stated above, all the interior modifications. An enterprising resin-caster could get very wealthy doing standard bench seats and Brougham interiors with those beautiful pillow-tufted seats. My mom had two '86s. One standard car with the 231 and a Brougham with the 307. The Brougham was a very nice car, and I miss it. I've actually been glancing around casually for a Cutlass, and if the right one presented itself at the right time, I'd go for it. Charlie Larkin
  5. My only real gripe is the lack of a bench seat. Not sure what I should be thinking about modern radials, either. Perhaps the next issue should be a Slant Six or 273 car with a TorqueFlite, dog dishes and bias-plys, and a bench seat. Charlie Larkin
  6. Where can the scripts be found? I'd seriously be willing to give this a shot- I love the screwball Canadian stuff. Wouldn't the interiors be closer to the Bel-Air/Impala, or were those identical (or at least close) to the American Pontiac? Charlie Larkin
  7. Superb. Charlie Larkin
  8. I do like that color combo and the wheels are great. The ribbed inserts on the seats and carpet should be closer to navy blue, but the light blue vinyl and dash, from what I've been able to tell, are right. Another super-nice job. Charlie Larkin
  9. Best Model Car Parts is a great source. If I want something else, or something special, I go to www.licenseplates.tv, and then pick the plates I want. You can create your own plates, and then copy and paste into a graphic program and print it on an index card. Just be sure to set the printer to "photo." Assuming you're using standard size plates, resize them to 0.46875" wide by 0.24" high. I use the drawing program in Open Office to do this; you can probably get it to work in Microsoft Paint, too. Charlie Larkin
  10. I saw Bob Downie recommend Formula 560 (I think?) canopy glue, which sounds like it'll do exactly that. Charlie Larkin
  11. Awesome. Charlie Larkin
  12. We haven't driven everyone out of the PAL building yet, Tom. Give me a little credit. And yes, I'll be there, K-1000 and all. We should tell him, though, Tom, if Scott thinks we're overload together, wait until he meets the rest of MassCar! Charlie Larkin
  13. Add Slant Six and TorqueFlite, and it'll look good on my shelf. Charlie Larkin
  14. Couldn't have said it better. Charlie
  15. I might have to go get one of these. That came out nicely. Add a 6, dog-dishes and blackwalls- instant almost any small business. Charlie Larkin
  16. We're waiting for the finished product, but Dad and I are seriously considering one of these. Very handsome van. I think the T&C is going on to some kind of Journey-like anti-XC70. I drove a 2006 or '07 Pacifica for a test-drive. I liked it. Charlie Larkin
  17. Which group had test-shots? I need to see! Charlie Larkin
  18. I'm getting at least one '48 Ford. I like those cars, and it'll be nice to build a stock one. The Cutlass- if they don't muff this one, pending further news of any other variants, I'm in for at least one. If this one is set up for easy modification, this is no joke, I'll buy a case of the things- there are so many Supremes I want to do, it isn't funny, including both of the ones my mother had. If MCG steps up and does the photo-etch for all the scripts and the lower mouldings, once I can figure out how to modify the interiors properly, I'm in good shape and can make a whole series of nice cars with little extra trouble. Now to figure out how to make the disc and wire wheel covers, and maybe the Super Stock II wheels. Charlie Larkin
  19. What car? Charlie Larkin
  20. So...4 doors and no plaid seats? Well, at least they kept the go-fast parts. GTIs were never really my cup of tea (seriously, think about what I drive!,) but I always thought they were cool little cars that gave you a lot of scoot for not a (comparatively) lot of money and that made up for a lot of that. What I found most interesting (and perhaps most upsetting) was your description of your BMW as "boring." Never thought I'd heard a BMW described as that to drive.I'll grant an X-1 might not be a Z3/4 or one of their sports cars, but that's still kinda depressing. Also- out of curiosity, did Flynn buy out Haddad? I seem to remember them and Pete's as the two big dealers around there. Charlie Larkin
  21. A 4-door GTI?? Although the 4Motion (or whatever VW calls their 4WD now) does make up for a bit of that. Too bad they'll only be given 1/dealer. Most dealers here could probably sell one a week, if not more. Charlie Larkin
  22. Outside in filtered sun, not too hot or cold, will yield good lighting. If I want quick on-the-Internet pictures, I have a point-and-shoot Fuji digital camera that does a nice job generally. For more thoughtful pictures, I use one of my 35 mm cameras, sometimes with the macro lens, sometimes with a wide-angle if I want a panoramic shot. If you really want to get fancy, you can always go find a Linhoff or similar technical camera, and adjust the depth-of-field manually so you can have surrounding trees, buildings, etc., scale in exactly with your model. Charlie Larkin
  23. Why do I bother? Meh, I still have fun. Red is cliche' with these cars...or most any mid-late '50s Chevy. But in this case, it's a VERY nice cliche'. I'm very impressed with that paint. I remember those 850s new and saw a couple of them. Nice looking cars, and I'll be interested to see what you do with it. I remember one that was this kind of smoky silver with an off-black interior. Very sharp. Charlie Larkin
  24. Awesome. Let me know how you do on finding someone who can do some photo-etch artwork; I have a couple of ideas in mind for p/e, myself. Charlie Larkin
  25. You don't even have to feed me, I just don't go away! So? It sounds like New England in a bad year. And I actually wouldn't object to trying lutefisk if someone actually knows how to make it. Side-note- was that bit about the Irish developing it as an anti-Viking weapon a joke or real? I mean, it does sound like something some inebriated leprechaun would devise. Side-note 2: G, I actually kinda like gefelte fish; not wild about the texture, but it doesn't taste bad. Blame it on my Jewish ex-girlfriend. Charlie Larkin
