  1. Fortunately, I have no wife to deal with, but a house shared with parents and it gets a bit tight at times. One of my major goals for the next 18-24 months is to get my own home again- either a decent-sized apartment or a house/trailer/something, and then I'll have room enough for everything again. Charlie Larkin
  2. Some very nice work. Charlie Larkin
  3. Oh, I'm thinking if you want to make a copy of a script to apply to another model. An example being the GALAXIE lettering on the back of the '63 Fords; the AMT 500-XLs didn't have it, but the formal hardtop promos do. Resin would work, but as you pointed out, you usually have to buy a fair amount of it, and it has a limited shelf-life. Charlie Larkin
  4. I'd be in for one or two of each. I'm actually toying with grabbing a Cherokee if I can scare one up someplace for reasonable money. Charlie Larkin
  5. I remember seeing a trick using aluminum foil to cast scripts. I wonder if that might do the trick? Mold, cure, perhaps sand down a bit, and glue. Charlie Larkin
  6. Near-0 cold. I was talking with Dad last night. The idea of perhaps selling the house, picking up a duplex here and then maybe someplace more southern to re-locate to for January and February is starting to look really good to both of us. Charlie Larkin
  7. Very nice. I have a Motor City resin to do. Charlie Larkin
  8. That woodgraining is excellent. The wire rims and blackwalls add an interesting touch. Another fantastic job. Charlie Larkin
  9. When I was in 8th grade, one of the custodians bought one of these LeMans 4-doors. I remember him saying he liked driving it. What I thought was most interesting was about fifteen or twenty years ago, I was in the showroom of a longtime Pontiac dealer, and the owner was saying "the most comfortable seats of any car I've sold or had, and I've sold thousands and driven hundreds, were in that cheap little six thousand dollar Pontiac LeMans the Koreans built." I guess even a generally not-great car can have one or two redeeming features? Charlie Larkin
  10. I usually can't stand altered stances, big wheels and blackwalls on cars of this vintage, but I have to admit, that looks pretty good. If it was mine, I'd throw on Diamondback Classics WW radials; that to me would be the finishing touch. Charlie Larkin
  11. To clarify, Dave, there will also be a regular, street-going Cat, too, or just a NASCAR? Charlie Larkin
  12. It does look good. You can see why it was the brochure picture and one of the more common color combinations. Charlie Larkin
  13. Remarkable. Charlie Larkin
  14. I never would've thought to use BIN for a sealer for plastic. I'll be curious to see how it works. Charlie Larkin
  15. That's coming right along, Al. I can't wait to get to mine. Charlie Larkin
  16. What did you use for the walls? It looks like counter-top? I would suggest a coat of gloss white to look a bit more like a more typical exterior. It might be wise to put a light coat of white glue on, followed by some N-scale ballast to give more of a stucco texture. The basic start you have here is very good, and could become excellent with a little more time and effort. Charlie Larkin
  17. Very nice job. Looks to be at least partially scratch-built? Charlie Larkin
  18. I agree...S&H Torino for the undercarriage and engine/transmission. The interior would probably be best-sourced from The Modelhaus, as I think there were a few differences in the '72 vs. '75-76 interiors. The Revell '70 can supply the Magnum 500s and decent tires; you'll need to trim the S&H suspension mounts a bit to get to stock ride. Charlie Larkin
  19. ^ This. Or, as my 6th-grade educated in a one-room schoolhouse in Nova Scotia great-grandfather, who went on to become one of the most respected home-builders in Greater Boston would say, "measure twice, cut once." If what Tim has said is true, it's unfortunate. Charlie Larkin
  20. Mine was at my local shop Sunday. Excellent kit. The only issue I have is the box. It's nearly impossible to put all the parts back in due to the quantity. Moving to a slightly bigger box would be a good idea. Charlie Larkin
  21. The Pontiac would be a cool model to have re-issued. If it can be done, I'd be in for one, maybe two if I liked it. Charlie Larkin
  22. One of these moments I'm glad I don't have a wife to answer to. I'll just slip one of my friends a few bucks and ask her to go get them for me. This is a great idea, and I can see it working pretty well. Charlie Larkin
  23. Or, in my case, I paint it flat black because anything around here would have had undercoat applied. If I were restoring a car today, I'd probably paint the floors with POR-15, followed by a correct coat of red oxide primer. That way, I get the best of both worlds- looks right and rust protection. Charlie Larkin
  24. Indeed most unfortunate. From reputation, Good Guys really does do its best to live up to its name, and has done a lot to help promote the 1:1 car hobby. The promotion of modeling was a nice bonus. Hopefully, I'll be able to make their Springfield show in 2016. Charlie Larkin
  25. I wouldn't write it off, either, especially if it meant saving a mint on eBay et al. Charlie Larkin
