  1. I can answer the hot-dog roll part, anyway. A friend in lodge is a baker at Gold Medal Bakeries in Fall River, Ma., which is a large bakery that produces incredible quantities of mostly private-label bread and does a lot of contract baking for several of the major brands. Hot-dog rolls come in two types, New England style (opened on the top,) and Coney Island style (open on the side.) Depending on the style being made, the pans will hold either 48 or 54 rolls, which is why Coney Island are usually packaged in packs of 8 or 12, and New England style are packaged in 6. As to hot-dogs...I remember reading somewhere that it had to do with weight, but now, with all the dumb screwy weights being used in everything to squeeze every last haypenny of profit out, maybe they should standardize on 6 or 12 packs. 2. Sorry to hear, Mike. I've been skating since 2008, so I hear you loud and clear. I decided to go self-employed because at this point....I have nothing else to lose! Nobody will hire me to teach anymore (I guess I make too much sense and actually care about achievement too much,) and too many employers I've seen seem to not be interested in anyone that does teach, or I can only get commission or really low-end jobs that, in all honesty, I can't afford to take, because I'll still not be able to pay my bills. In addition to this venture, I was finally able to land something for the tax season with Block, so I'm hoping between it all, I'll actually make enough money this year to make it worthwhile and with my own enterprise soon coming, I might still not be rich, but I'll be happy. And that is payment in and of itself. Charlie Larkin
  3. Saw this on the news this morning. That little girl is T-O-U-G-H. I'll chip in. Charlie Larkin
  4. The Cutlass is allegedly going to be announced next year sometime. They've been teasing us with this for nearly a decade, so I'm not holding my breath. If this is done properly, I'm in for at least two. The 88 is another matter. The closest thing is the Jo-Han '63 Starfire, which is starting to get expensive and difficult to find. With that said, with the resurgence in the popularity of early '60s big GM cars, there is a (very) outside chance a new Starfire could see the light of day. Charlie Larkin
  5. I like that green. Charlie Larkin
  6. Definitely a very good story. Looks like a great model, too. Do you have any pictures of the car in its current state? Charlie Larkin
  7. Nice, Tom. Whose trailer is that? Charlie Larkin
  8. Looks great, Al. About the only thing I'd do is paint the rear side-marker lenses. That color looks very nice on the car. I have the convertible I'll be building sometime. Charlie Larkin
  9. Our world has gone insane. I really think that as much as we needed mental health reform all those years ago (and still do,) we let too many crazies out of the asylum and we're now seeing the results. Charlie Larkin
  10. They did this in 1/24, I'd be in for one. It's a neat piece. Under $25? With postage? At that price, I might actually grab one of these to settle curiosity. Charlie Larkin
  11. Try thinning the paint with lacquer thinner. It will speed drying exponentially. Light coats are your friend. Stir, shake, agitate- the bottle, that is. The more thoroughly mixed, the fewer problems. Charlie Larkin
  12. Very nice build, Peter. Charlie Larkin
  13. Well done times 2. Charlie Larkin
  14. What a nice collection. Charlie Larkin
  15. That came out very nicely, Steve. I wasn't sure of the colors, but they look very nice together. This is definitely a 10/10. Charlie Larkin
  16. Looks good, Bruce. In a way, the blackwalls look right on it. Charlie Larkin
  17. It is definitely an acquired skill. Been trying to for over 25 years. Charlie Larkin
  18. No truer words have been spoken.... I find it very sad. Charlie Larkin
  19. Just for giggles, I hit Kanter to get some kind of a gauge for exhausts. You weren't kidding! $1100, but it's stainless, so I can work with that- lasts much longer. Interesting about the deck-lid? Does it have effect on the car's structure, as well? I can imagine the interiors are expensive- Bridge of Weir leather isn't cheap, and I would imagine the nylon broadcloth is rather pricey, too. Add in all the detail, and I can see it going up pretty quickly. Even simple interiors are a pretty penny to re-do. I appreciate the pointers. And if this comes to pass, you'll be the first to know. Charlie Larkin
  20. Looks great so far. I would suggest a light wash of The Detailer brown or very heavily-thinned brown paint (like 5:1 thinner/paint) to help bring that a bit closer to the walnut pattern Chrysler tended to use. Charlie Larkin
  21. I got a good deal on a '66 over the summer, so I jumped at it.I I'm debating colors, too. I'm considering blue, myself. I agree that the Sandalwood would make a nice choice, and I think it would look infinitely better than the molded-in color. The Monaco had some rather interesting details, like wicker trim with the vinyl interiors. That was light cream-beige. You can see the engraving on the seat-backs and the upper part of the interior side-panels. Here's a quick run-down of the interior features, unfortunately, no pictures. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1965-1968-dodge-monaco-and-5005.htm I would recommend pairing it with the cordovan interior. If you have the vinyl top texture on your body molded in, like mine is, I think a white top would look exceptionally nice with it. This car is Cordovan; the interior is about the same tone. http://www.flickriver.com/photos/36340269@N06/4887769583/ I think with the wicker accents and the brushed aluminum trim, the Sandalwood/white/cordovan would be most striking. This will give you a general idea of the interior material's patterns. http://imperialclub.org/Yr/1965/ChryslerBooklet/page50.jpg This will be an outstanding model in your hands, Steve. Oh...one heads-up. The correct engine turquoise is a bit tough to get. When I got mine, I found it was back-ordered at Chrysler. You can get it, but it might take a couple weeks to get it, unless you can get a dealer that has some on the shelf. Charlie Larkin
  22. I would suspect not as much as you think. And I agree that it would probably be a pretty good to very good seller. Charlie Larkin
  23. Hmm...we get smoked. I think I now know where to find fresh. I'll make a couple of phone calls and see what I can scare up. Charlie Larkin
  24. Great to see you here, Glen. Folks, this is one nice guy and an excellent builder. You'll enjoy his company, I can promise you that. Charlie Larkin
