  1. More information on the situation here
  2. Those flanges to align the body are elegant, brilliant, yet simple. Hopefully my brain will allow me to file them away and recall them when I need it
  3. My understanding is that it does fit, with minor rework of the interior tub for clearance. I have the same thought for a future project.(item #1723 in the future project list )
  4. And remember, the AMT kit doesn't even have a bucket interior, the side panel details are engraved(poorly) on the inside of the body. These parts are an incredible upgrade over what the kit supplies.
  5. Since I'm building an AMT 28 sedan, i searched for others on the forum and this one came up. This is so sweet Drew. Clean build, tidy details, and great color choices. Glad i found it
  6. Great news Steve. I've been a big fan of your work for a long time, so I'm sure the 68 master will be first rate.
  7. Thanks Mark. Like I said, I'm currently building the sedan with the flathead, just daydreaming about a potential future use for the wedge, which I think I have settled on. When I do, I have no problem swapping a better rearend for drag racing under the fenders. I was just commenting on the design of the original sedan kit, having many cool drag specific pieces, but only the stock rearend.
  8. So, as I pawed through the parts for the 28 sedan kit, the engine choice started making a little more sense. There's not a true "hot rod" version in the kit, it's more a 2 n 1, with a stock and DRAG version. So the inclusion of the wedge makes sense for a drag car of the era. My first clue was the set back firewall/dash combo piece. This sets the firewall clear back at the dash location, making room for the wedge engine. The oversight that i see with this is the only rear in the kit is stock model A. Still, cool kit. Glad I have a couple of them. For those of you that took the time to add your input, thank you
  9. Greg, i appreciate your enthusiasm with all the reference pics you posted. But they're not answering my actual question about scale sourced alternatives for this engine, preferably with a hot-rod bent Glad i'm not the only one Chris. And thanks for the heads up on the Pontiac FI. I just happen to have a couple more of those that I bought from Ed sitting around here
  10. Honestly Snake, I think it's my OCD, because the carbs aren't in a straight line. I'm sure real world there's probably not much better. Just asking about options
  11. Daydreaming about a future project while I'm building an AMT 28 Ford sedan. I'm putting a flathead in this one, but thinking of future uses for the "wedge" from the kit. Is this the same engine that's also in the AMT 49 Merc? Seems like an odd choice by the kit designers for a hot rod or custom engine in the early 60's, but what do I know? Anyway, what are some other intake options for this engine in scale? More hot-rod-centric than the offset carb intake is what I'm looking for
  12. Stunning build. Black with red interior is obviously a classic hot rod combo, but the addition of those wheels and tires set's this one apart. nicely done
  13. I may have missed it, but has anyone tried fiting these parts on the new Revell 68? Just for fun?
  14. This will help you make those Buick's more streetable if you have the inclination...
  15. Alan, this is looking great. I'm a big fan of this kit. You know what they say about great minds...
  16. I've been through the entirety of this thread multiple times now, and it's a pleasure to read through your buildup every time. It feels like it's actually getting close to a final mock-up before paint. I'm really looking forward to that.
  17. You may have missed it over on TRaK, but Chris Drysdale has come up with a set in his Shapeways store, Maple Leaf Modelworks. He pulled them offline because he wanted to refine them a little bit after receiving his first samples, but plans on putting them back up soon. I can't wait because this setup is so cool. Your scratchbuilt version came out great
  18. Has the BM 70 Phase III corvette been available anywhere, either resin or plastic? A quick google search showed one from Mini Exotics. I love that body style.
  19. I really liked the blue version, but it's your model. It still looks cool with the new color. I dig this, it reminds me of something out of The Fifth Element. The display base is cool too. Maybe a piece of clear acrylic rod would give a better impression of actually floating Cool stuff
  20. Tamiya lacquer sprays can typically be removed with 90% alcohol. You may be ok to soak resin in it, but test if possible on a small disposable part Edit- like I said, you MAY be ok to soak it. I've soak resin in alcohol before, but just overnight, but apparently other have had issues. Others also say CSC is fine, but I have had it destroy resin. So, test if possible with any method. BTW, CSC won't help you with Tamiya or Testors lacquers. I've soaked items painted with them for weeks in CSC and it doesn't touch them.
  21. Back to the subject at hand... Jeff, you note that you are planning to re-do the paint. If you are planning to remove the old paint be careful what you use to remove it. Castrol Super Clean and many other paint removers commonly used in our hobby can damage resin. Do you remember what type of paint you used the first time. that could help us help you figure out the best method of removal, assuming that's the way you're heading.
  22. Replicas and miniatures of Md doesn't have a website, but they offer some of the best quality in the business. Here is a link to my personal Fotki page that has a ton of photos of their products. This is all stuff I have purchased myself over the last twenty years. I am not affiliated with or compensated by RMCoM in any way, this is just shared for educational purposes since they have no web presence of their own. Prices shown on the packaging may have changed and some items may no longer be available. https://public.fotki.com/crstan/replican-and-miniat/replicas-and-miniat/
  23. If Casey's link doesn't give you what you're after I can probably mail you one of my sets. i never use them anyway ;-)
  24. Maybe I misunderstood, but I don't think Dale is getting out of the business. he is suggesting that someone look into getting into the business to help shoulder the load with him and Kustom Khrome. ChromeTech Bob is the one who retired.
  25. Stumbled on this while searching for something else Well, it only took 6 years, but the 34 pickup is finally being released back under the AMT banner!
