Original is not in the cards for this one ... the promo collectors would have heart attacks viewing my On the Workbench thread! I'll have to delve into my polishing bits and see if anything small. Thanks for the comments.

I'm working on a '51 Plymouth promo and need to smooth out the cast metal grill/bumper so I can alclad it. Every surface has to be glass smooth for chroming with Alclad. The surface has a bumpy texture that I have to remove. I have filed some of the surfaces but the deep inside ones are not easily filed smooth. I tried a wire brush on the Dremel but this just works over the whole surface and not smoother level. I'm just looking for some ideas on how I might do this, crazy or not. Thanks in advance. here's a couple shots with different lighting

Very nice interior

This is cool ... 1:1and 1:24 going together. The dash looks easy to make RHD, especially with the smoothing it's had. Sanding down the dash is a good start, even add a smooth plastic sheet cover if needed. The gages and such can easily be added to that. The steering wheels and petals will move over easily.

Don't get discouraged ... I liked that rising sun hood. Maybe try painting hood blue first then mask off just the circular sun and then the rays if you're having trouble with edges. This would also let you do a good circular edge with sharp rays .. especially where they join. -

Glad you channeled it beyond the box pic. -
I'm usually chassis, engine, interior and body last or sequencil if it needs lots of bodywork. Mostly cause I hate painting

Tool Extension possibilities

Yeah, Jon. Just do the back slide for the '50 ! My '49 is stalled because I want the '57 Packard tail lights I have on it ... -
That looks grand! I have always eyed these kits and never took the plunge since I didn't know how they were. That's interesting having to extend the frame ... and you'd never know it looking at yours.

2x Ace! I just stop and come back when something gets me up again ... usually a different one than I stopped on. My oldest WIP is a '59 Impala needing just more BMF to finish, put aside last century.

It does look small, but casts a big shadow! My fingers ache looking at those windows! very nice.

Building a car you owned is my favorite kind of build ... I'm working on many of mine. You're off to a good start ... nice cutting on the T Top.

Let's See Some Glue Bombs!
Foxer replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There are some tough restore material here! This is an AMT 1961 Valiant I got just because I always loved the body on these cars and it was cheaper than dirt. I think the builder used every custom option on it secured with gobs of tube glue. I've gotten thru the body restoration and deciding how it's going to be built. Maybe a Mild Custom as some of the original parts are missing, like a few tires. -

Nicely done! -
I never minded doing decals and have been doing them since before AMT Kit Decals existed, but this is a genius idea! ... simple and effective. One of these is going on my bench.

'57 chevy panel
Foxer replied to dieseldawg142's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
so simple, but a match made in heaven how the beautifully finished body meets that chassis -
How could small parts be any simpler!? Thanks for the tip
-
I had big troubles with my camera settings and most photos were out of focus. Many will be posting theirs, so I just put the ones that used the NNL East 30 decals. I tried to get all of them, even included one's that were on other tables. Sorry for the bad focus to everyone. My NNL East 30 Decal photos
