  1. silver or gold. Tires were most spcificly Firestone 500's. Firestone even made special front tires with the name Ronnie Sox in the sidewall. They did this fo a few other pro stock drivers.
  2. How differnt is this kit than the tuner series car? Also any sources of aftermarket decals? I remember this kit back in the day and is one of the few I sold I regret selleng. With a little detail work it was outstanding.
  3. Awesome detail.....
  4. What's your source for the Don Grotheer decals? Mike
  5. Earlier in the thread the size of the metalflake was mentioned..... I'm pretty sure that the flakes were part of the gelcoat of the fiberglass.
  6. I think the original issue had spy parts. My Dad and I built it. While I've got a couple of other models we built that one seems to have vanished. I'd love to get the spy parts and recreate my memory.
  7. Just fix the stupid gas gauge and look at it..... If you get stuck by the road because you ran out of gas maybe that's a life lesson you need.
  8. I remember those.....great to see them in color instead of grainy black and white.
  9. THANKS for the photos....I've got two of these that are waiting for restoration. Those will be a great help. Mike
  10. I just completled a trade with br67, Brandon Robertson. I'll admit I was a bit hesitant as he's in South Africa and often international trades cost so much in postage that I can buy whatever I'm trading for for less than what I'm paying for shipping. The way Brandon handled this was he had a person in the United States colect the parts from me, and then ship them to him in South Africa. He sent me notice that the person in California received my end of the trade and he then posted his end from South Africa with an estimated delivery time of two-three weeks. The actual delivery was about a week. TWO THUMBS way up. Brandon figured out a way to make this work to the benefit of both sides. Mike
  11. If you have any in progress pics of the Ferrari I'd love to see them. I have this kit, but lack the courage to attempt it. Mike
  12. Amazing.....great inspiration!
  13. I wish the fan shroud was a seperate piece. I want a couple for drag projects and they rarely run the shroud.
  14. Never seen a resin one but there was at least one done as a diecast.
  15. I'm looking for resin COT parts to update and convert AMT's COT's to Nationwide cars. I saw them on eBay at one time but failed to buy them when I should have. Any suggestions where to buy these? Thanks, Mike
  16. Shirley's car was a hand me down from Connie Kalitta with an older chassis with a newer body. It was intended more of a match racer than a national competitor. Remember this was the time frame when you could run three match races in a week and pay the bills. You'd show up for a couple of national events for noterity to get bookings. Note the Chi-town Hustler and Jungle Jim. Both legendary teams with minimal national event wins. Here's another body up picture of it. 17. I wonder if I could use household silicone to make one..... I don't have resin casting supplies although I know its a skill I'd like to learn.
  18. The mold for the tuck and roll, what is that made of? Resin? This is an idea I really want to try.
  19. The motorcycles that most want are the Harleys..... I think Revell has doubts the price of the kit with the licensing fee would be too high for most hobbyists. The licensing fee would more than likely push the price to $12-15. It would sell to some diehards but most would pass.
  20. I'd love to find decals for the later version of the Revell Kit Mustang.
  21. It was the Hawaiian that either flew at the Winternationales or its replacement. It was originally published in one of the car modeling magazines of the era. I believe it was Car Model magazine but it could have been Model Car Science. It was posted on the Straight Line Modeler website but it appears that site is down.
  22. I could see this on my shopping list.
  23. My only complaint is the subject matter. There are several Kia's and Hyundais I'd much prefer in kit form. I really find the Veloster appealing (yes my taste can be questioned). I'd also wouldn't mind a Genesis. I'd would really like a Tiburon.
  24. Thanks for posting this.....I can't believe it was so long ago that drag racing was so good.
