Jaw-dropping fantastic. Orange/pearl/clear gives a wonderful illusion of a fade paint job on the hood. Kit rims or other?
-
Greg, I don't think you should blemish a record of not having owned any Tamiya kits. I'll gladly help you out. Just send them my way! LOL

Bill Eh? replied to Ahajmano's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For manufacturers that I have bought from, Tamiya first. Then in no particular order Fujimi, Hasegawa, Aoshima, Revell ( formerly GMBH ), Heller and Protar. -
Revell Ford GT LeMans 2017 Motor Sports?

Tower Hobbies --> Late April Would it be too much to hope for that a few might be available at the NNL East? -
Revell Ford GT LeMans 2017 Motor Sports?
Bill Eh? replied to 64SS350's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
On the page that Steve linked, you can download a .pdf copy of the intstructions. After clicking on the instructions link, look for 07041. I downloaded a copy. It will be interesting to see if the instructions included in the Motorsport boxing are the same. -
Do you/can you use nail polish for paint.
Bill Eh? replied to Heartattaq's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As far as thinning goes, this video from Doctor Crank's Lab-RAT-ory might help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5w8KFSUjEl4 -
I went to the Group 25 Model Car Flea Market and picked up a few things. I really shouldn't as my trip to the NNL East is less than 2 months awy. LOL

Time For a Workbench Makeover!
Bill Eh? replied to 2002p51's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Gary, some of those bottles must be quite old. It has been a very l-o-n-g time since those larger size Tamiya bottles have been available in stores around here! LOL -
I'm probably reading to much into this, but "Win A Ride" indicates to me an RC product. On the up side, RC products are sometime indicators of 1/24 plastic kits that might also get released.
-
It would be nice if they came out before the NNL East rolls around. I will probably buy 2, as well as a 2nd Beswick car. LOL
-
I picked up the Beswick kit back in November at the Detroit show. I wish I had gotten a couple. Could the delay of the Dyno Don version be a result of Moebius now being in Pegasus' hands?

Hey administrators! Can we get a new topic!
Bill Eh? replied to Pete J.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not trying to be smart aleck, but does not the pinned topic "Buying my first airbrush Questions", serve the same purpose. I think the thing that annoys me the most, is the number of people who sign-on to the form, ask a question/opinion, and are never heard from again. LOL -
Thoughts on having a "For Sale" section ...
Bill Eh? replied to kitbash1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Gregg has made it more than clear as to his position on this. No selling on the board. Trading section works just fine. -
Tamiya '60s F1 Kits?
Bill Eh? replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi Richard, Douglas and Ken have given you some options to consider. I only started following F-1 in '76 when I attended my first two GPs. I have been following ever since. My stash of F-1 kits (1/24, 1/20 and 1/12; Tamiya, Fujimi, Heller, Protar, and ?) falls into the more-than-enough-for-my-lifetime category. LOL -
Tom, Dale and Pete thank you for your detailed explanations. So, although flat paints have the required "tooth" for a colour coat, they unto themselves do not have the necessary adhesion characteristics required to sufficiently stick to the bare plastic surface. I will stick with purpose-made primers, before spraying any acrylic colour/top coats over them. I appreciate this forum for the generosity of the members in taking the time to share their knowledge.
-
I paint mostly with acrylics. Is there a specific component of acrylic primer which sets it apart from using, say a flat grey or flat white acrylic paint? Does anyone just prime with an acrylic (name your colour) flat coat before applying their acrylic colour coat? My apologies for being lazy. I guess I just need to do a spoon test to find out the answer to this question. I hope all of my fellow forum members are having a happy and restful holiday break.

Luminess air brush system ??
Bill Eh? replied to gbdolfans's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Luminess systems typically use airbrushes made by Sparmax. Sparmax does make good quality airbrushes. Even though they are gravity fed, the color cup is usually of a smaller capacity. The part that I would question would be the "compressor". They are designed to output a lower psi, as they are only required to apply makeup. They also do not have any pressure adjustment capability, or the ability to trap moisture. I would also suggest saving for something better, as this product might only lead to frustration, and then giving up entirely on airbrushing. Just my 2 cents. -
This is a link to a build-up of the Tamiya Ford GT, as done by Andy of Andy's Hobby Headquarters. An amazing kit, due out in January 2019.
-
Tiago is a member here. He has an awesome Youtube channel, TM Modelkits , where he chronicles his builds through video. You should check his channel out.
-
But Paul, nowadays Tamiya uses 1/20 for F-1 cars! JK
-
I'll probably get two of this kit, along with the Revell full detail 2016 LeMans car.
-
Tom, just a heads up for you. This is a great kit to build, and is unique as an F1 car. It does originate from the days when Tamiya used battery powered electric motors. The structure of the model does still include a battery compartment and a plastic insert which served as the battery compartment door. Bill A.
